  1. Just finished playing 'Stanichka' vs the

    AI (+25% troops)and achieved a Minor Victory...

    Another cool Naval Infantry battle...much

    enjoyed...looking forward to more.

    Thanks for your work Renaud.

BTW, whilst reading Erickson a few months

back, I noticed a reference to an amphibious

op carried out on the shores of Ladoga in

June 42...haven't had time as yet to follow

it up...but interested in whether the T-40's

(actually amphibious) had their moment of glory...

    Paloodra!

(I am assured by David C. Isby that this-

trans as "Look Out Below!"- is the battle

cry of the Soviet Naval Infantry...)

  2. Just finished playing 'Novorossisk_Ozereika'

Russians vs AI, and really enjoyed it...

A Minor Defeat for me...took me too long

    to get off the beach...

Great map with many clever features,

    very well done smile.gif

Looking forward to the next installment

Thanks for all your work, Renaud...

    Cheers,

    Matt

  3. Thanks, Jason...great info.

I discovered quite by chance that

one can equip Soviet Tank Hunter

teams with grenade bundles in the

Editor...but I'm sure this is common

    knowledge...

"Rocket propelled" is a post hoc anglo-ization of the existing acronym"

.....what is the 'R' part? the PG is

    something like 'pekhota grenata' ?

BTW, I'm in battle #3 of your Hunt Vasilli

Op...and finding out why it's called that...

  4. Hey all,

    Just re-read V.I Chuikov's "The

Beginning Of The Road" and was

    intrigued by this statement:

    "Our men treated grenades with

great respect and gave them pet names:

they called the 'F-1' grenade 'Fanyusha'

    and the anti-tank grenade 'Tanyusha'."

What is the AT grenade referred to?

Not the RPG-2 which CMBB introduces in 1943,

    I guess...

Would Tank Hunter teams armed with explosives

(grenade bundle)be any kind of realistic substitute for this weapon?

Thanks in advance for any info,

    Matt

  5. "I wonder how long it will take for..."

-Probably about as long as it takes me

    to reload the page...

Another "I Smell Nazis" session coming

    your way...

Was it Hearst who said "the purpose

of newspapers is not to inform, but

    to alarm"?

  6. Hello Santosdiablo-

You know how in the QB parameters screen

the Axis has various Nationalities to

    choose from?

Well on the Allies side there is a choice

    between 'Soviet' and 'Partisan'.

Bear in mind that Partisans are not

available until (I think) September '41...

and the Region of the USSR may also be

a factor...pick 'All Combined' if you like...

There is a mod for Partisans (at CMMODS

of course) that makes them even funkier...

Some officers get leather coats, which

I'm told are hip with the kids today...

  7. Hey Ram...

"Keyholing" is the placing of a

unit so that it has a fairly narrow

field of fire....eg an AT gun placed

to fire thru a gap in buildings or

    trees...or a tank placed among

buildings...or an HMG firing down a

    ditch...

The idea is both to set up effective

ambushes and to restrict how many

enemy units have LOS to your unit...

AT guns pin & die awful quick when

    many units can target them...keyholing

them (and adding MG's to cover approach

    routes) can prolong their lives

    significantly...

Multiple keyholed units can be set

    up to effectively dominate various

    chunks of the battlefield...

You probably have been doing this

    all along...it took me personally

a little while to get out of the

habit of trying to place AT guns

to cover as much as possible...

Once I began to keyhole, I never

    looked back smile.gif

  8. Just got CMAK (been playing CMBB for

a few years)and downloaded the CMETO

mod pack (thanks to all involved)...

Wanted to revisit some classic CMBO

Ops like "Drive To Mortain" and

    "Carentan"...could only find a beta

    version of Carentan (by Pud)...

Can anyone tell me if there is a more

finished version? And/or if "Drive To

Mortain" was ever converted to CMAK?

In addition, if anyone out there wants

to PBEM any large Normandy Op, I'm good

for 1-2 turns /day, more on occasion...

there are 1 or 2 Caen Ops out there that

    look good..

    my email: antman@chilli.net.au

    Cheers,

    Matt

  9. Just curious though; if your scenarios

are designed for CMBB, how come the

    Villalba Op has these forces:

    "Note: German as Nationalist,

    French & British as Republican"

-Can I play this one with only CMBB?

If yes, and anyone out there would like

to PBEM this largish Op (either side is OK)

drop me an email - I'm good for 1-2 turns/day,

    more on occasion...

I was just reading some rather thrilling

stuff about Pz I's and T-26's locked in fierce

    tin-can combat....

Oh, and can I rename one of my British squads "Orwell" ????
