  1. I had something stuck in my eye and it clearly said "Shock Force 2 Orders Available" for small while!
  2. 1. In alamo the Syrian tanks seem to be too good spotters, the can come up full throttle buttoned up and spot my antitank teams easily, faster than the veteran soldiers can spot the tanks (which would never be the case IMO) 2. Very often the soldiers lose sight of the tanks rolling around nearby, probably due to the small dust clouds, tank should not be lost easily after they have been sighted 3. Soldiers should not be eager to shoot 40mm HE rounds on syrian tanks. It causes them to lose cover quickly and die.
  3. Hello, I now have Alamo demo save that crashes every time. 1. Press the next turn red button 2. Forward to the end of play 3. Press the red button to end replay 4. Crash File here https://ufile.io/sk3gp
  4. Hi, Game needs to take look at the static displays with larger screen resolutions. I have 40" 4K display and the menus are almost unreadable (tiny). Also the options menu has hilarious stock resolutions, gets me back to the good old days..:) I was unable to use the numpad as commands for some reason, had to use shortcut letters instead. Not sure whats the deal there. Other than that there was no issues.
  5. The look on your mothers face was no joke either, when she received the phone bill.
  6. I hate that there is no solid way of playing decent multi player battles currently. Because of this i will not buy/play CMBN before this feature is implemented....10 hours i spent yesterday with the Demo does not count! Actually the counting will begin tomorrow, because i have to try a new brilliant tactical maneuver in the Bocages today, but after that, it´s bye bye!
  7. Does this mean the things crawling on my scalp (damn buggers!) can also end up in other hairy areas? Or is it a German thing?
  8. The TOW platforms are useless, their capability is random at best. This is now with 2 days intensive testing, playing only the initial 20-minutes. Results of my tests: 1. When your foot-HQ is on the move, it can have radio contact to higher C2, but its subordinates can NEVER have other than direct com (visual, speak etc.) until HQ stops. By this conclusion, NEVER move your important HQ:s on foot, you will break too many things. 2. Indirect spotting information is passed only trough the C2 levels, never on the local level ie. footsoldier from different branch, does not pass information to other branches directly. This could have large impact on army with limited C2 like syrians, unrealistic impact. 3. I did not get any satisfactory results from trying to help TOW platforms trough C2 information. They can sit all day staring at downhill and never spot the 3 question mark tanks from 1km away. Any other team, non binoculars even, were faster spotters than LAV-AT, even without any C2 information. 4. The LAV-AT either saw the question mark as tank rapidly (say 1-minute perioid) or it did not, at all. 5. Enemy ATGM can see you if you come out of hull-down, provided the hard-terrain does not restrict. Particularly the orchards. Yes, your footsoldiers also. Yes, at night. Orchards = death traps. 6. Many of the problems were probably due to the tank-ditches, because M1 had similar problems, altough their better instruments seemed to compensate some of the failures. In conclusion: Some unknown LOS bug restricts any non-random (in a tactical sense) direct fires from your initial ridgeline, better not to try. Don't keep your hopes high for spotting any entrenched enemy units until you stand on top of them (recon troops), so most likely its complete waste to try recon anything. Do not move your recon HQ out from the vehicle.
  9. Thats similar to IED and should be abstracted in the same category. There are multiple ways of distrupting supply lines, but spearhead of combined arms is very different story. If you find enemy APC sitting next to you, the ones in grave danger can be found outside of the vehicle and not the other way as it is now. Unless you have the means of destroying it, which is something else than frags and 7,62mm ammunition. Right now pinned troops getting accurate coax fire from their target, can chuck frags at it and win.
  10. Is the CMSF interpretation of severe harm against armoured vehicles without AT weaponry too far fetched? As it is now, even routed single conscript usually detracks/destroys any vehicle in the game when it gets to throw the grenade of doom at it. Whenever you pass enemy infarantry at relatively close distance (under 30m), its almost guaranteed that you lose that vehicle. I know troops can carry antitank mines, but using using such methods out of their design envelope will precede legendary effort and a lot of planning, not something every soldier is capable of and i would imagine, in assault phase such opportunities would not be presented time-wise. IMHO, the possibility of succeeding should also be heavily penalized by the relative experience between the vehicle and trooper. Should conscript soldier try to disable crack uparmoured hummer, success should be next to zero. I'm just saying that if you do not have the means (correct weapons) and/or training, you will die if you are stupid enough to try.
  11. Helmets are actually protection against low mass objects which will be abundant when explosives are involved. Many of them could kill or cause disabling injury without adequate shock absorber, which are the nylon bands underneath. Head has special functions when it comes to fighting, you can take beating anywhere else but not there (well, your "other" head aside). I believe that the description about helmet against frag could be true, most of the objects coming towards would be piles of dirt, rocks etc., lacking penetrating power but otherwise lethal against skull. They are secondary fragments, caused by shock blast and/or primary fragments. Against veteran troops (resistant to blast waves and noise) outdoors with small cover, i think that grenades would be less effective than shooting unless you are very good throw.
  12. Then it was 9.3 (i just updated to 10.1), i know it was the correct one, as i have experienced the bug in question. I can send you the last savegame without corruption, by playing it for about 1h turn based, to see if its only my platform.
  13. 1. UK version of the campaing, second battle 2. Windows XP with 2gb RAM, Out Of Memory comes along with crash to desktop, dialog box. 3. Battlefront 1.21 with UK&USMC 4. I have zero mods installed 5. ATI Radeon 4570 with 9.4 catalyst (the one that does not have the memory leak bug, reported previously) 6. I guess its reproducable, as i have the same occurence with 3 separate tries (taken earlier save). 7.The corruption was ongoing as i have 2 consequent saves with corrupted headers, was able to play atleast 10 minutes in between and then some, without any pre-warning.
  14. Hi, i have been playing the Warrior in the sands campaing, and i am getting unexpected save game corruption. Also the game eventually crashes with "Out of memory" notification. 2 of the sequental saves are corrupted, which were saved some 10 minutes before game crash, do show gibberish in the description. If i try to load them, i get immidiately the "Out Of Memory" notification. This is damning bug, as i cannot know if the save was corrupted or not untill i try to load it. Where do i send the files?
  15. Steve, if there is any way i can help i will. I can replicate this issue like a clockwork with 2 cards, 3800 and 4800 series. If it were not the licencing hassle, i could do it with 2 completely different computers. It has something to do with memory leak as it will leak all available RAM 5mb per second once in the game. It is not a problem now, but there isnt any promise that ATI will eventually do something about it. 9.3 -> 9.8 i can live, how about 9.3 -> 10.5 next year?
  16. Confirmed 1.20 does not fix this issue. Bug: Newer than 9.3 Catalyst drivers (just tried 9.7 with no difference) do not work. Tried with Radeon 3870 and 4850. After couple of minutes into playing, Task Manager will start reporting steadily increasing ram usage until all is used, which leads to CMSF crash.
  17. This is very good news! I see lots of good things in the module approach, not least the affordability of them. You have successfully utilised internet for cutting the middle-man thus improving the quality-price ratio. We all know that it takes work on both sides of that issue to win. You'll be getting my money with every release on CMx2.
  18. Ahh those days, it took 3 hours to refresh the main page back then. All of the flash animations and banners were too much for the 300bps modem.
  19. Modding simple games like battlefield is pretty straightforward. ;AK47 ;Punch 70 ;Weight 80 'Russian ****y wepon!!11 ;M16 ;Punch 60 ;Weight 50 Its just rock-paper-scissor with prettier graphics. Things get ugly when you have to completely ditch gameplay aspects and start thinking how platform X actually performs in real world (not just in Wikipedia article). Thats where battlefield engine says no to your modding attempts and 2-hour attention span of BF fan is greatly overdue.
  20. Instead of 100 million gadgets, there should be more effort to build more disposable assets. Unmanned is the way to go. 99% of the current threats are in shape of high explosives buried in dirt roads. Tough nut to crack for smart people? I think not..6 years ago they landed 2 super high-tech, solar powered robots into mars which are STILL functioning. Get the guys from Mythbusters series and 10 nasa sensor scientists working for 5 days and i'm sure you have your first disposable IED buster prototype. You cant out-armor yourself out from the shaped charges but you can definetly out-smart few sand monkeys living in the desert.
  21. Tried first 9.5, which was just released hours ago, but the problem persisted. Then after switching to 9.3 everything is normal now, no memory leaks. So, 9.4 and 9.5 will not work with CMSF.
  22. I have this problem too with XP and catalyst 9.4. I will try to revert back.. Looking at the taskmanager whilst playing, i can see there is a memory leak. CMSF allocation goes from 400mb to 2gb within 5 minutes or so.
  23. Reason for combined marketing channel is to have scheduled releases for maximum exposure/profit. I would expect atleast 1 month between 2 important releases. Longer we have to wait for british troops, the better it gets. 1 month will mean hordes of additional features and bugfixes. Note for BFC: learn from the Marines release, polish the included campaing and have some sort of tutorial intro-campaing.
  24. Played 95% RT before blue bar, switched to 100% WeGo with blue bar. Realtime play does not lessen the burden at all. Still the same movements have to be plotted, but with less effiency probably increasing the workload (most of the time fighting the camera angles) Best part is that you can really see the astonishing engine at work by replaying the firefights. They usually last just couple of seconds, killing tens of people and sending RPG:s everywhere. Try to figure the mess out in realtime, especially when youre a the other end of 2km map re-routing humvee struggling with obstacles. That and the tactical challenge of planning things ahead of you. It just hits the sweet spot of this simulation. With modern combat 1 minute is almost strategical timescale, i say 45 seconds would be equivalent of CMBB 60 seconds.
  25. Shows well, how in light combat, casualties mount up with suppressive fire without you ever seeing the enemy. This is what CMSF still lacks, suppressive response and a lot of it. Not just one squad firing for 1 minute at recent contact, but the whole company until the threat either shifts or blows up.
