  1. WONDERFUL!! Thanks for this. Will be in touch this weekend. I bookmarked your website (really good!), so I'll look for a contact link there. Glenn
  2. OK, will give it a go! Thank you for that. Ya gotta admit, I never start with the easy stuff, eh? By the by McAuliffe, ...Gonzo... - nice sites - thanks for the recommendations  http://users.pandora.be/aneric/index8.htm http://warfarehq.com/ Glenn
  3. Give Madmatt's idea a try there (will probably work). However, in case you still have problems, I have a Mat****a CD-ROM CR594 (32 speed I think) and an ATAPI CD-RW 48x16. Both these use the native Win XP Pro drivers listed as: Microsoft 5.1.2535.0. Now I do have a few issues with the ATAPI in that once I've been on the internet a couple of times in a session, Windows doesn't seem to recognize that there is a disk in the tray. I usually have to reboot to get it working again. I am now normally running off the Mat****a which works all the time. Hope that helps, and you're most welcome Let me know how it works out. Glenn
  4. I have to think this is a fault of the drivers for the CD ROM you have. I have almost the identical system to you, and I have had no problems starting or running either CMBO or CMBB. My CD ROM's are different to yours though. Perhaps take your machine into your local friendly (and trustworthy) computer store (maybe best to take it where you bought it) and have them try another CD ROM and/or drivers then try loading the game right there in the store. If one doesn't work, then they may have another brand they can try. If they won't do this without you first purchasing the CD ROM, then ask where their nearest competitor is and how to get there. That should get some results at least. Good luck! Glenn
  5. Someone here has a "signature" asking for scenario reviews. I can't find who it is now unfortunately. I'd like to review one or two so could the person asking for them please respond here with a URL that I could contact him by with a review? Thanks Glenn
  6. I just got my package (CMBO/CMBB) a few days ago after being on backorder for a short while. Let me tell you, I haven't been one bit disappointed!! It is really outstanding. So, while there isn't an online manual, for what it is worth, I'd definitely get the games. Hard to imagine that you'd be disappointed! Glenn
  7. Hi Guys, OK, thanks very much for the help here! The actual basic premise of the scenario was to have the Germans coming down the road in a column of trucks, only to get ambushed by the Canadians. The idea from my standpoint was to play the Canucks against the AI, but of course others may choose to do the opposite. From the sounds of it, this isn't very feasible, or at best, I can try what McAuliffe suggested. It's not a huge deal if I can't though, as this is more experimentation in how to do this while learning the pitfalls along the way. You folks have helped a whole bunch towards getting me through the latter here  . Much appreciate that. I'll check out your websites as suggested for further tips. If you don't mind, I may post back here with a Q or 2 more as they come up (and I'm sure there'll be a few ). Thanks once again for the help! Glenn
  8. Ahh, got it! I didn't even see that once the units were picked they were placed on the map right away. Probably not a good idea to set the weather as "Fog" when doing up your first scenario, eh? Thanks very much for the assist! Much appreciated. Glenn
  9. Oooooops. My apologies Green Hornet - you were absolutely right about the uniform designations having the 5 digit number. I didn't see them in my CMBO bmp folder because you actually have to download them and install them - they aren't default files. Ahh me, the learning curve can be steep in the beginning . I need to make another correction - I spelled Michael Dorosh's name incorrectly. My apologies to you as well Michael. Thanks very much for the help here Green Hornet. I'll spend more time reading and learning now rather than yakking . Glenn
  10. OK, what I so valiantly tried to ask in my post (but failed despite the 10,000 words ) was how to I get the units I've selected to be in the battle actually on to the map for the setup phase? Each built-in or 3rd party scenario has all the units starting at a particular location in a particular situation (i.e. in a foxhole or on a tank). When I called up the scenario I made in the game, all the units were lined up along the back line of their respective zone in one long line. So, how do I actually position the units initially on the map so the player can take over at the Setup Phase and proceed from that point? Thanks much again, Glenn
  11. Okaayy, thanks for this. I had a look in the CMBO bmp folder and couldn't find the numbers you mentioned. From the uniforms I downloaded from Michael Dorocher's site (thanks Mike! ), it would appear that you have to reload uniforms for the season, based on them having the same number but different suffixes (which are not carried over to the CMBO\BMP folder). However, the Mad Dog terrain mods I downloaded do not overlap for seasons (each has a discrete number), unless I read it wrong  . I'll have to look into this further I guess, but I'm beginning to see your point about CMMOS. Probably once I get a set I really like, I'll stick to it, but the uniforms would change (if I'm right in my assumptions here) almost with each scenario because of seasonal changes, so CMMOS might turn out to be really important. Thanks very much for this! I'll a good look once again to see if I can sort out the bmp files. Appreciate the help. Glenn
  12. I'm pretty new at this so I hope you'll excuse the rather basic question here. I CAN tell you though, I did RTFM before posting this . I'm designing a scenario. I've got it all built in the Scenario Designer, my forces picked out for both sides, map built, etc. Now, what I WANT to do, is start one side all in trucks, with the other side set up defensively to guard a crossroads. The first side has no idea the second side is there, and they were on a routine transport mission to the front (this is based on a historical situation). I'm not sure how to "finalize" the scenario so that the units will be in the position I want them in to start (I know about the setup zones and whatnot, I'm mainly concerned with the infantry being positioned in the trucks to start with). Is this "do-able"? Is the scenario designer set up so that the designer would normally not do quite this much as a setup, but instead should let the AI perform the setup it would prefer at the beginning of the game (for the side that is being played by the AI)? Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Glenn
  13. Ahh yeah! Great idea - thanks for the tip! I have made bat files to do the same thing in Flight Simulator so I'll just apply that to here. One thing I didn't realize but I think I'm finding out now is that many of the uniform and vehicle textures have the same number from summer to winter (i.e. they don't switch from summer to winter unless you use manually switch them using whatever method), so I gather you yourself have to plug in what version you want for the scenario being played. Am I correct in this? I gather that is what CMMOS is designed to do using an interface for you then? And lastly, the bat file should be set up to "replace" (albeit I'm sure in not nearly as thorough a way) what CMMOS does? Thanks Pud - really appreciate the heads-up here. Glenn
  14. Thank you VERY much for this!! Much appreciate the quick reply. I'm adding some Canadian mods and yeah, it looks like there will be some tedious work involved, but definitely worth it in the end. I'll also have a look for terrain mods as I understand those are really great. Thanks once again, Glenn
  15. I'm one very happy camper!!! Got my copy of CMBO/CMBB today after the backorder of a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the speedy service Battlefront! That was quick considering it had to clear Canadian Customs and all. Appreciate the efforts there. The games are outstanding (got the bundle) and the manual is equally as great! OK, dumb question of the week time. Since I'm very new to this game, and I've read most posts regarding mods and definitely want to employ a good number of them, may I please pose a couple of questions on that here? 1) Are the tanks, uniforms, etc. that are used in winter the same ones used in summer in the game (thus the reason for the mods)? If so, I take it that each time you add a mod, you have to replace that unit with a season-specific version? 2) I've read some about CMMOS (?) and gather it is a very handy utility. I'm pretty much accustomed to making mod changes manually (in MS Flight Simulator) so I know exactly what is being changed, but with reference to Q1 above, that might get to be more than a small pain in the derriere if there is only one set of uniforms for all seasons. Could anyone please comment on what all CMMOS does and if it works well with W-XP Pro? 3) While I normally backup/zip all original folders prior to making any changes, are there any other cautions I need to follow that I may not have thought of when making these changes? As far as running into performance problems, I suspect I'm ok that way with a P-IV 2.26 and 512 MB DDR RAM, video of GeForce IV TI-4400 w/128 MB. If anyone sees a potential problem though, I'd appreciate any comments on that. I think that's all for now, but further comments beyond this are most appreciated. Again I do apologise for taking up valuable forum space on such rudimentary items, but hey, I guess we all have to start somewhere . Thank you very much in advance. Glenn
