  1. Pardon me for my first post please I was feeling bad after getting myself wiped out completely. After second try it turned out fun scenario. And what worked for me was not rush but very safe, slow attack... nothing gamey Will be fun play this as Germans one day !
  2. First let me excuse for my critics People tend to bother writing on the boards when something wrong... Some questions about Viennese Waltz player as allies vs AI: - Is it really a meeting scenario ? Number of German anti-tank stuff encountered almost immediately was looking more like an ambush Right, they didn't have tanks at start but my infantry was really outnumbered. With that much infantry and AT teams in the city I probably could hold russian advance even without any tanks. - I'd feel *much* safer playing russians in Jagermeister than this :eek: And they saying Jagermeister is hard... I'm sure I can win with russians but only knowing situation in front and applying "gamey" tactics like rushing all forward and setup ambush for arriving later german tanks.
  3. I think 'q' command should be improved. Like it works now it puts more (unnecesary) work on player (finding right firing pos). If you place firing point too far your tank may be knocked out before it fires which is bad. Worser is that your tank may fire first shot on the way to firing point because it spotted enemy too early, then get there and sit waiting for reload. It would be nice if tank would scan (cover sector) for targets, fire single shot and reverse. Kind of "Move to contact & Rev" but with taking a shot in when something was sighted.
  4. I've played it for Allied side, but probably for best results in human vs AI you should play Axis. Anyway - question is how score is calculated. And why helding 3 of 4 flags being in defence means a draw. After all objective was to hold high ground which is exactly what I did. ======= may be little spoiler ========= - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Just for refresh - its a hill covered with tall pines on one side and straight road coming to the hill across all medium map. Heavy German iron can be safely moving only on the paved surface with high risk of bogging off the road. Allies have 2 85mm AA guns, few smaller guns and about 20 tanks (SU85, 152, T34s). Axis attacks with Tigers, Panthers and HTs. I put all allied in hide waiting for enemy get closer to ~400-500m range where my rounds will work more efficient. Main guns were set to open fire when first enemy armour will get past my ISU152s sitting hidden behind tree cover with pretty narrow "Cover armour" arcs ~500m range. Then I would move all my other tanks fwd. All turns were basically about germans slowly moving along the road after bogging some Tigers. They've stopped ~5 meters before my traps. German infantry did not reach my forces in time (30 turns) either. I held all flags on the high ground, one flag was captured early by german squad rushing to it early in the game. I let them it to keep my units hidden. And result was draw. Was I supposed to counter attack and kill all assault force in this scenario ?
  5. I'd say just "forma" - no need for modifier. What you want to differentiate it from ? If you really need more specific name - "Pekhotnaya forma". Ekipirovka means complete set - like spade, flask, binoculars, first-aid kit. Basically its very close to english "equipment". [ January 13, 2003, 03:22 PM: Message edited by: RGL12 ]

  8. I insist on "Bezmolvie" "Zimnee Zatishje" is unlikely to be used as song or book title while "Bezmolvie" has more "art" in it. Another idea - if you mods contain some uniforms - name it "Valenki". Probably one of the best things a soldier could wish in the winter [war]. Vodka beats it of course, but thats about it
  9. I agree that "matushka zima (or zeema)" may have close associations with fairy tales and lacks brutality and other general attributes of war. On the other hand seeing winter mods set "Sobachiy Kholod" will make me think about some comedy-looking soldiers with red noses and blue faces in funny clothes with shaking hands and teeth. Almost like if it was called "dude its f'ng cold out there". I'm not a poet but "zimnee bezmolvie" (winter silence ???) would sound better than these two.   10. There is no phrase in Russian with "winter", "frost" or "mud" referring to anything like "important commander". The only thing I could find remotely close to your question is "matushka zima" (mother winter). One (of many) meaning may be "russians are so used to winter snow and cold (unlike germans) and winter protects russians like mother would". "Sobachiy Kholod" would mean just "very cold".
