  3. Congrads and good luck!! It's a good thing being hitched!! BigMik1
  4. A forum of a military history mag called www.armchairgeneral.com I am talking about CM. I am in a PBEM battle with another regular on the forum and he is making it into a very cool story. Here is the the thread: http://armchairgeneral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4165 Many folks are learning about CM and are showing interest. One guy just bought CMBB. BigMik1
  5. I am seeing allot of buzz about this game. I want to check it out also. BigMik1
  6. I totally agree with this......I love the pictures, but I can open anyone of my WW2 books and get more info than I get from the show. BigMik1
  7. No ASL is not killed off. I am a member of a ASL group in Houston and it's running strong and many members just came back from a Texas tourny in Austin that I was told was well attended. If you visit sites like Web-Grognard or The Wargamer, you see board games are doing well. Also on a site I vist alot now is Armchair General and they have a forum that has a board game section and those guys would disagree with you big time. I play CM alot and I love it. I play computer wargames all the time now, but I do play a board game from time to time. That is where I started my hobby. BigMik1

  14. I love the big battles, bring them on!!! BigMik1
  15. I think you would see that dust cloud coming up. With wind and everything else you will see something coming. Remember the hills in the desert are not that big. I think the dust cloud helps the realism. BigMik1
  16. Thanks for the info my fellow grogs. Alot happened during that time leading up to Operation Overlord. God Bless those men. BigMik1
  17. I was just looking at a History Channel show on Great Military Blunders about nine German torpedo boats stumbling on an Operation Overlord training mission called "Operation Tiger". The German boats killed over 800 Allied troops that day. Ten of those men had info on the Normandy landings. I had not heard about this incident, I swear you learn something new everyday!! BigMik1
  18. I agree very much with you. I am a wargamer, first and far most. When my mother bought my first wargame "Submarine" by Avalon Hill in 1978, I was hooked and AH was my forever friend, ASL, Panzer Leader, FlatTop and many others. I then moved over to the computer games and played an old, old game, Under Fire by Avalon Hill. I truly belive this is the great grandfather of CM. Then I played other computer wargames and had fun, but not a real big spark and they came and went. But then a game comes along and just drops you and it was CM. It was a wargame and a great one. It rolled ASL, History Channel and Under Fire all in one game and I love it still. It thrills me like IL-2 for flight Sims. I am glad it came along. BigMik1
  19. The thrill of victory against a human in a head on head battle is enough to thrill me. I guess that's the old grog in me. So the PBEM and online is king in my book. If I want the rewards and such I will pop in my cd of Call of Duty or Battlefield:Vietnam. But I can understand your point if this was just a singleplayer game. But, PBEM just gives you too many joys!! BigMik1
  20. Well I will throw this in the hat!! The best panzer commander: Michael Wittmann It's a honor when everyone tries to take credit killing you in battle. BigMik1
  21. What does this have to do with units and individuals whose training and bearing made them the "best of the best"? As I recall, none of them got a single hit. Not that I doubt their courage, but it seems a bit off topic. </font>
  22. Ahhh, my honored opponent Ken, thanks for your words, but your defence is quite impressive also. I have tried every kind of flanking move and you counter it with units popping up out of foxholes all over the place. Now in turn #4 your forces are too strong as my poor British troops see their goal just a few yards away and can't move without getting shot at. As to Emar, your op is a challenge for the Allied side and I fully accept it and I like it, but you could give the Allied player that air and artillery support that they are suppose to have. Plus those additional troops. BigMik1
  23. Wow, my battle with Scheer raised alot of answers to that question he asked. I couldn't believe my Greyhound punked out on a MG42 after I sneaked it behind the Stug and pumped a BUNCH of 37mm into it to kill it. But, I understand now, keep your light armor away from those damn well made german machine guns!! I saw on the history channel some nations still use the MG42, wow. BigMik1
  24. Nice option for wargamers who want to experience the long rules of board gaming. Wow, I looked at the rules and setup and started to shake. I will wait for Quick Campaign Lite, unless someone can tell me what's the easier why of getting this started? It looks like a mountian of stuff. I would love to try it but wow that's alot of stuff!!
