  1. yes, but wouldn't it be nice to recreate battles from the 70's and 80's. BCT allows this and it is alot of fun to try to simulate actual battles. I can see that MP could be a problem with others having modified units. I was kind of thinking about making wessex helicopters and SAS special forces. LOL. I could live without a unit editor, but would sure like to see a SP scenario editor!
  2. I think Dave makes some good points on making TacOps more flexible and better. If a meaningful unit editor and scenario editor for Single play were added, TacOps would be the best game on the market..period. It is already close. Then add several levels of effectiveness for troops...green, elite, normal. Normal being as it is now, no interference by freindly AI. In short, make TacOps more flexible and everyone will find what they want. personally, I would like to edit units and create SP scenarios.
  3. I played DA for months and have now shelved it for several reasons. 1. It is not too dificult to learn to play. You must read the manual though. If you spend a couple evening reading, it plays in a straight forward way. 2. It is underdeveloped in my opinion. The user community is small, and the program has some minor but annoying bugs. Not game stoppers by anymeans, but annoying. When airlifting units for example. The Pick up menu shows units available on the previous pick up. You have to cancel and pick up again to get the right list. 3. The scenario editor is terrible. Impossible to trigger counter attacks, etc. Opfor can only be placed in a static defense. Attacking forces rush forward like a zulu charge. 4. the scenarios that come with it are pretty much all the same. And there are only a handful. The user community has created little. 5. Game has potential. But falls short in many ways.
  4. I have been learning both TacOps4 and BCT Commander and I would say quite simply, they both are very good. I will give you a single pro and con for each that I think sums up these games. PRO. 1. BCTC. Ability to write scenarios and edit the unit data base. Great for scenario design. If it had a map editor, it would really shine. 2. Fun. Very intuitive interface makes it simple to learn to play. But like chess, not so simple to master! CON. 1. BCTC. Terrible interface. Screen flashes when scrolling, lots of mouse clicking. Most of the initial learning is how to do something, and this is tedious. 2. No scenario writer for single play. If TacOps had this it would be spectacular. So, both are good. I would get them both. But if you are interested in a great playing game get TacOps first. If you want to design scenarios and can put up with a clunky interface, get BCT Commander first. (To the best of my knowledge ATF does not have a full scenario editor yet, and this is a drawback..could be wrong here, have not played ATF).
