Natter was far away from beeing an effective weapon. But it was an interesting technical project. The building costs were not so high because the frame was made of wood.
I see the Natter together with the V2, Me 262 (it has perhaps performed the first supersonic flight), the flying brigde, Sänger Stratosphere Bomber, Bv 141 (an asymmetrical bomber), Horten IX Nurflügler as interesting technical projects which let me thing about the war could be the father of technical breakthroughs.
Altough the V2/A4 reached the space Wernher von Braun worked on a two stage rocket A9/A10. I am happy that the war ended but what would he have reached with one year more time with his team? Perhaps he could have launched a satellite 10 years earlier.

The picture below shows a vertical take off and landing plane with a maximum speed of 900km/h. But the war ended before a manned prototype could launch, only a unmanned prototype launched a few times. It was called Focke-Wulf Triebflügel.

You are right. Fieseler Werke developed a manned version of the V1 rocket, it was called Reichenberg. Hanna Reitsch, the only female test pilot, flow in 1944 with a prototype. But this rocket plane never became operational because the pilot would have been died in the rocket when it were exploded near the target and the government did not wanted such weapons.Maybe he was the first man in a rocket but i heard about a pilot woman that manned the V1, (they inserted some instruments in the rocket) to see why there were failing so much, she discovered they didnt respond well to cross winds.Originally a kamikaze plane was planned called Me 328 B. But it never left prototype status.

Natter has become operational in April 1945. The first squadron was placed near Stuttgart in southern Germany. The Natter was far away from being operational. It was a death machine in 1945 (for their pilots only)The first succesfull unmanned test was at December 22nd 1944. The picture below was taken at this test.
The first manned test happened March, 1st 1945. Lothar Sieber was the pilot of the first manned rocket in history. Unfortunately he made a mistake and crashed into the ground where he died. It seems that he lost orientation in the clouds. His machine did not had an artificial horizon which was later included in all Natter rockets.

Dear friends,
perhaps I can translate tomorrow some of the discussion between Bohr, Heisenberg and Weizaecker. Weizaecker worked in the German atomic bomb program and Bohr worked on the Theorie of the US bomb. Heisenberg also worked in the German nuclear program but his statements are different to Weizaeckers so we cannot be sure about the status of the German bomb.

PS: This photo shows a flying bridge which is brought to the river by a plane! One of those crazy Germany ideas. The flying bridge was developed in 1941 and even a tank could cross the river over this bridge.

It is not clear if Germany had the capability to develop a nuclear bomb. You read a lot of material if you can read German here .Are this articles something to be trusted?Sven
PS: The picture shows a prototype DFS 346 of the German supersonic plane program.

Wernher von Braun is one of the person we can vote in our current votes to the "Greatest German of all Times". But I voted for Albert Einstein, Wernher von Braun is in second place for me.
Adolf Hitler is not votable.
Sven
PS: This picture shows the first manned rocket. It is called "Natter" and was operational short before the end of the war.

If you still need another European player...It would be an honour for me to play for Europe.
I have lots of experience against the AI and I normally win against the AI with the most difficult settings. I have only some experience against human players. I played once against zappsweden and it was an even game.

The fourth flaw. Allies do not get any MPPs from Sweden since Germany declared war on. Too much flaws to win as Allies.
-
May 1943:
Russia declares war on Romania. The war in Bulgaria is still going on, yet undecided.
In Iraq the war is also going on without any heavy losses for both sides.
Germany attacked Sweden early but because of Russian reinforcements Germany could not take it.

This is the time were the Kimbern and the Teutons , two tribes from Germany, invaded the Roman empire for the first time.

Norway was attacked by Axis. Reinforcement of Norwegian units was impossible. Another flaw for Allies
If Allies would get Canada they would not get the MPPs for. This is the third big flaw for Allies. A game cannot be won with so much flaws against Allies.

Yes of course this is wrong. I totally agree. France and Germany were foes for a few hundered years. But 800 a.c. a king ruled both countries. His name was Karl the Great. His capital city was Aachen a 2000 year old German city.Agreed entirely and glad you rounded the issue out. We see those border areas today as having been areas of conflict, but I think that's wrong.Later on the German emporers thought they were the heir of the Roman empire. The last emporer of Germany lead Germany into WW1 which caused WW2. I think he forgot the history.
The German tribes were the first who beat a Roman army. They weren't as primitive as the Romn generals thought. Ab big mistake. I think a similar mistake which was made by Adolf Hitler, a small stupid Austrian idiot.I believe the Germans who lived astride the Roman frontiers were in a very lucrative position. No doubt they served as the middlemen prospering from the import export commerce and lived much better than they would have either inside the empire or farther back from it. Naturally, when it became a matter of either moving within it's boundaries or staying outside and fighting the new hungry arrivals they sought the safest path, invasion of the softened Romans.Sven

Nice report JersyJohn. But do not forget that the recent law system of the most European countries based on the ancient Roman law system. the current system of countries and nations is 2000 yes old, based on the old system of tribes. Germany is still based on the old frontiers which where defended by ancient German triebes against the Roman invaders. Some of the German cities based on foundings of the Romans like Trier and Cologne both 2000 year old cities.
In most of the other European countries this is very similar.

Fall 1941:
The USA are heavily attacked but there is no chance to land troops for the Axis. Finland declared war on Russia but there is no progress for the German troops against Russia.
No technological advancements right now. Investment into research is worthless with patch 1.06. This was definitly a big mistake to change the game engine in the research area. the three research points of Russia when they enter war are wothless. The game balance ist lost. Even with the MPPs from Canada which are going to nowhere.

Canada is still in Allied hands but where does the MPPs go? There are going into a black hole. That is a flaw in the game which gives the Axis too much advantage.
-
April/May 1941:
England without any unit! But Axis forces could not take London and a new corps arrived in london.
Allied Coup! A corps takes Torino in Italy.
Yugoslavia joined Allies. Heavy fights there. Hungary have already joined Axis.
Russia prepares for war. The great war will start soon. The revenge is near.
May 1941: German troops take London, England is lost.

Spain becomes German in one turn without any messsage of joining Axis. Very mysterious thinks are happen.
-
End of July 1940:
Paris still French! But the Maginot line is damaged. British reinforcements arrive to protect Paris because french troops are very weak. Italian attacks still worthless.
Russia annexes the Baltic states.
-
July 1940:
French units retreat in panic from the frontline. Heavy attacks from German units kill thousands of soldiers.
-
Allied troops still not believe the war propaganda from the Germans.
-
June 1940:
First hole in the French defence line. But no real breakthrough for the Germans because British reinforcements arrive.
No attacks more from the Italian units.
Allied troops patienly awaiting the "Blitzkrieg".

General Montgomery lands in France to support his troops there. German fleet nearly destroyed, the heavy air fights are continuing.
No progress for German troops in France.
Attacks of Italian troops against Allied troops nearly worthless.

Game progress very slooooooooooooooooooooow.
-
Heavy sea fightes in the Mediterranian Sea causes high losses to the Allied fleet.
The Allied fleet attacks Axis fleet in the Baltic Sea.
Still no advances for the Axis troops against France.
