  1. Maybe the next module will be based on a hypothetical situation where Egypt defeats Italy in the World Cup, and Italy retailiates by invading. The Brits (beaten by Italy in the semis) come to the aid of the Egyptians. The new "Americanized" French join the Italians and we have a new game that's at least as plausible as CM:SF--World Cup War I.
  2. Bradley Dick: "while I'm clicking around figuring out what to do." Nail on head. This game is more like Close Combat III in 3d than CMBB or CMAK. And while I loved the CC3 series, even it, at times, became a clickfest. If there were ever a WWII module, it'd have to be scaled back like CM:SF, thus preventing us WeGo types from playing large battles.
  3. Yes, Steve, I agree. It would be silly to include the IDF in a war against Syria. Your little game's premise that the U.S. would invade Syria with less than an Armored Division or two is much more realistic and plausible.

  5. Yeah, the Syrians have extensive experience at having their asses handed to them by the Israelis. Me thinks the Americans would treat them the same way.
  6. And to the dude so full of confidence in the Finnish Army: sure, the Finns could give the Americans a decent go of it IN FINLAND for a while, but how about you Finnish boys come take us on in Texas. How long you think the Finnish Army would last anywhere but Finland?
  7. This is some funny stuff. I suspect a war between Syria and the U.S. would be much more like Desert Storm than Iraqi Freedon, which would mean WEEKS of Air Strikes and Cruise Missle strikes before anything else. To expect the Syrian Army to have any command and control after that is quite silly.

  12. A full movie playback option would be great, Especially if there was a way to save a tcip/ip game's full length movie and share it with others.
  13. Not very, I rarely come here, and I bought all three CM games through the internet from England. However, assumption is more often a bad thing than not, and of that, I'm guilty. I was really just trying to make a joke. Obviously, it was a silly one!
  14. I'm of the opinion that if no one else had anything to say on the matter, people would stop posting. Seems as if this is more a matter of what wants to be heard rather than what wants to be said. Sure is easy to see this forum is in the U.K. and not the U.S. KG_Soldier
  15. Ughhh.... I think not. The question is (to Steve of course), by what means do you know that there are more AI players than pbem players, which I don't believe was answered or asked in the locked thread. I also wanted to mention the fact that even if somehow they are not able to put in an e-mail function, you are able to save and resume tcip/ip games. KG_Soldier
  16. How do you know that there are more people who play the AI than play pbem? I don't mean to insult you in any way or say you're wrong, but I just find it hard to believe. I'm pretty confident KG_SSpoom and I have logged more time playing tcip/ip games than anyone. I love them. It's important to remember that even if there is no pbem function in CMx2, you can always stop and save tcip/ip games. Lately, SSpoom and I have played the full spectrum of games in CMAK late '44: meeting, probe, attack, and assault in mirrored qb games of 1500 to 2000 points. One of us may only have 30 minutes or so to play, causing us to save and resume later (actually, I -- Germans -- still have to assault him -- Americans). Problem for us boys over here at KG is that we just started actively pursuing and inviting you boys across the big pond to come visit our forums and get involved in our great team games. If there is no pbem function, it will be impossible and sad that good players from far different time zones won't be able to play each other. Good luck in finding a way to make it work.   17. I'm really KG_Soldier, but for some reason I'm no longer able to log on as such (probably due to lack of posting). Here at the KG clan, we make extensive use of Teamspeak, making tcip/ip games pretty easy to play. We also have several team games going on all the time through PBEM. Single player PBEM games abound too. I love the quick decision making required in tcip/ip games, but they do require at least 3 or 4 hours to play (which is hard to find for most). I purchased CMBO, CMBB, and CMAK. I plot on a pbem game or play tcip/ip almost daily (lately a lot of CMAK and rarely against the AI). As much as it hurts me to say this, I feel it necessary. I WILL NOT PURCHASE CMx2 UNLESS IT HAS AN E-MAIL FUNCTION! Sorry, KG_Soldier
  18. It's testament to both the short-sightedness and the cruelty of the Germans that the Bolsheviks were able to win the battle of the hearts and minds (so to speak) by default. The Germans had to be pretty bad for the average peasant to side with the mean ass Bolsheviks.

So, you don't think the German treatment of POW's and civilians early in the war, thousands and thousands of POW's put in giant pens and starved (see Alexander Werth "Russia At War: 1941-1945"), had an effect on the average Russian soldier? Werth asserts that the stories of escaped POW's hade a huge effect on them. Now, as to the validity of these POW's stories, I can't attest. But it is a reasonable point that if the Germans had treated Russian POW's and civilians better they might have won the war.
  20. Well... going back a bit... Blitzkrieg tactics (or whatever you wish to call them) making giant encirclement maneuvers and capturing hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers worked well until the Russian soldiers figured out that being a German prisoner was worse than dying in combat, hence the drop off in prisoners taken during the '42 offensive. The Russian soldiers didn't get a lot better, just more resolved. The war in the East was decided by German behind the lines policy, not the harsh Soviet treatment of its people. Had the Germans intended to liberate the oppressed people of Russia (like America in Iraq ) and not solidified the Russian soldiers resolve with their "untermensch" policies, the war would have gone differently. But that is a lot to ask of any European country in the early 20th century, all dominated by the social darwinist ideas of Herbert Spencer, preaching that one race was destined to rule all the others in Europe. The Germans suffered from a Classic case of the big head. Great encirclement battles (or blitzkrieg tactics if you like) were not feasible in the West because of Allied superiority in mobility and air power. Not to mention the worn state of the German Army in '44.
