  1. What were the options set too? If set to "Random" for minors, they should have joined. If "historical" then it depends upon the date. If "Neutral" then you won't see them.
  2. I also did not read these replies-sorry for the harshness of my last post, but all that I said remains. Any other questions, condemnations or otherwise from our audience?
  3. As I said in the post done just 5 minutes before you, I am not on 24/7. Perhaps I was at home brooding about all those Jews I killed during the war, and how I should feel guilty for Joe Stlin and his bunch of communist friends-Hitler was bad, but Stalin was worse-its just that he was on the right side of the line in 1945. I never killed one person outside of combat, and neither did most of the Whermacht and Waffen SS. (MOST, not all-we had a few, just like the allies.) I never "Defended my home in the sewars of Stalingrad". That particular "honor" goes to the brave men of 6th army, who like the Russian soldiers who faced them were merely fighting for their homes-only the German people were doing it in a slightly more offensive manor. And don't patronise me on that one-after the war the Russians conquered all of Eastern Europe by putting in place communist lackies. Even many of the jews (and even russians) who had experienced the pain and suffering at the hands of the NAZI's (not the germans, but cowardly nazi scum who's name I feel ashamed to have on my fine units bannor) agree that communism was just as bad, worse even. Its just that communism came out the right side of the second world war-History is written by the victors. I am not ashamed for what I did in the war, which was to fight as a soldier. Just like the American, British, Canadian and other allied soldiers who fought in that war, I do not loose any sleep at night. I was an honourable soldier.
  4. Willard, first off, sorry I did not reply-I am not on the internet 24/7-you'll usually have to wait 24 hours to get a reply like this, which is why they are usually soo long. It is unfortunate that I cannot defend myself in real-time, but there you go. The point has been raised about getting living space and wiping out peoples were virtually the same thing-I disagree. While I never fought on the Eastern Front (Thank whatever god there may be) so I cannot comment first-hand on the massacres that took place. The fact was that most of the massacres took place at the hands of special SS murder squads (not to be associated with the Waffen SS-the fighting arm, as it is so commonly done) and not your typical german soldier. As to the raping and pillaging, as Joe Stalin himself said after the war in reguards to his own soldiers doing the same to Germans, "These men have come thousands of miles through rivers of blood. Now when the feast in the land of their enemy, can it not be expected that they take the spoils of war?" I never murdered one single person in that war. I never dragged an old jew out of his house and shot him. I fought and killed SOLDIERS, just like me (although I was much younger than them) who were out to do the same thing to ME. Thats war. Though I must say, seeing as to my fanaticism back then (I grew up with NAZI NAZI NAZI blowing in my ears) and if I were given an order to liquidate a ghrotto of Jews, poles, gypsies or anyone else you care to mention, I would have. And I cannot say I have a clean concience-I once willingly stood by while 3 American prisioners were shot. I also shot one or two myself while they were attempting to surrender, though as you'll note from films like "Saving private Ryan" and films from other wars, that was common-in the heat of battle you don't always think to take prisioners. The same was done to us. perhaps if the moderators would be so kind as not to close this topic, but to move it to the general forums, as I'd like to discusse it in further detail and answer all of your questions to the best of my ability. And please, don't exprect a reply in 5 minutes-I'm not even in the same time-zone as half of you!
  5. Glen, just change the names a little-also, political debate ha moved to a clearly labeled topic
  6. Ok, I feel that we now need a topic for this. For those of you new to this debate, check out the post mentioned in the title. Some of you say we were all Nazi's in the 1940's-many were. there is a phrase in the "Band of Brothers" series which I like to quote: German "Ich bin kein nazi" (I am not a nazi) American: "Yeah, I've been in Germany 2 months now and I haven't met a single ****ing nazi" The truth was that the nazi's were (with a few exceptions, such as the men in my own Hitlerjugend division, who were more nazi's by indoctrination than choice) cowards who hid behind the ordinary German citizen after the war. We Germans were and still are a proud race, with a proud history. We are not ashamed of the First World war, or even the military aspects of World War 2. The killing of Jews, poles, gypsies and so on we are not proud of, and we consider it a great national wound that we allowed such things to happen. But when it comes down to it, we Germans were not nazi's-we were germans. We did not want to wipe out races of peoples, but we did want our living space. The versailles treaty after WW1 had deeply shamed our nation, and after the wall street crash and during the great depression, crippled out nation as well. The nazi's gave us a radical chance to take back our former glory and to go and take what was ours for the taking. Sieg Heil.
  7. I was once allowed to take Berlin (no fight) but Italy and most of the other axis forces (as well as the German army, who had not yet surrendered) counter-attacked behind my lines, cutting off my battered and bruised (russian) army in Germany while my opponent went and took Moscow. Odd in the extreme-the German army would have fought on to the bitter end to drive the Russians out of the Fatherland, but instead pissed off to conquer the Rodina. I learned a valuable lesson, though-always leave a rearguard and never leave a non-german in command of the German army.
  8. Yeah-and also, when you patch the game you can't use our old save-games.
  9. Rivers should incur a movement penilty, as even if there was a bridge, it took more time to get across. As well as that, bridges should be better moddelled, along with supply lines. You can't actually see bridges or major choke points of supply lines, meaning you can't take the allied stratigy of cutting them off by blowing up rail junctions, bridges etc. to slow down re-inforcements to the front. Also, ariborne units were used extensivly by both sides all throughout the war and I think it is a shame they weren't included. Patch, anyone? I don't want to have to buy another game for these two things which should have been in in the first place.
  10. Why can't you guys make smaller, update pathces? I'm on a 56k (danm broadband for being so expensive in Ireland) and I recently updated with the patch just before V1.06 came out. A few days later 1.06 arrived and I found I had to download the whole thing again, including all the features in the previous patch, even though I had just updated a few days earlier. And I suppose I'll have to do the same again with this patch, and any later ones. Release update patches as well, please.
  11. Well, they probably would have, had they gotton the time and the chance, so as they could have defended france easier. It was on the cards right up until the Germans invaded. And look at what happened in Norway-that big Allied army that was mysteriously there to "Rescue" Norway from German invaders were actually there to themselvs invade Norway and prevent steel from going down from Sweden. However the Whermacht got there first and the British had to fight alongside the Norwegons to try and save their objective.
  12. The reason it can be so easy to win as the Germans is that historically the old Corporal demanded that "Troops Fight to the death! No Surrender" and overruled his military commanders all the time as the war progressed. He threw away some of the best military units in the world and kicked out the best commanders in the world because he thought he was smarter than everyone else. Its a fact of life for WW2 game designers of games like SC that they have to cover up this historical fact by weakening germany and making the AI smarter. Imagine-if the plots to kill hitler had succeded, even after the Normany landings, the German commanders could have turned the tide to Germany's favour. As an historian later said "They put the best men, minds and equipment into the worst possable hands". We lost because of a cripple with a bandy 'tasch. Otto must have been turning in his grave.
