  1. Thanks for the links, guys. I'd really like to find this last pack I had. In it were at least a few dozen maps that were titled in a way like "AXASFactory" which would mean the map is meant for an Axis assault on a factory, or something like that. The email of the guy that originally mailed it to me is effectively lost, and unfortunately I'm not sure I'll ever get it back. Talk about el sigh!
  2. Does anybody here know of any good map packs I could download, and where from? I had a great map pack but I had to wipe out my hard drive and now I'm wishing for some of those great ol' custom maps, and I'm terribly bad at finding them myself. Thanks for any help!
  3. There is a Turtledove website with a chronological listing of the novels that you can find through Yahoo. The concern of helicopters is still a big one, since they're such a big part of combat in the book. However, I see no reason why the rest of the engine would be hard to modify. The Lizards have really good tanks, artillery, and firepower, with pretty weak tactics and inexperienced men. A mod for this would be great; I'm surprised no one has done a mod for it through any systems.
  4. Anyone read these novels? They take place during an alien invasion during WW2. The aliens are smallish lizard creatures that are similar to us in many ways and have military forces that strongly resemble that of the modern US army. For those of you that have read the book, wouldn't this make a cool mod? Don't ask how helicopters would be modeled, but theres plenty of room for tanks, infantry, armorerd cars, and air strikes.
  5. Anyone know of any AAR's on the battlefront forums or anywhere or similar quality to the one being put up now by Master Goodale and Parabellum?
  6. A friend of mine downloaded and tried to install the demo for his Mac and this happened........
  7. Thanks for the advice. Will the Move to Contact order let the men move up to throwing range before they throw their weapons, or will they stop as soon as the see the tank? I've had little luck with the sneak command. Should you target the tank or just let the men decide when and if to do it themselves? Thanks!
  8. I'm still at a loss as to the best way. Should you run towards then, advance, sneak, assault? How many meters is a good bet?
  9. Any tips on how to pull this off? The British navy is so huge compared to the Kriegsmarine and I need the money to build tanks and armies for use against the English and the upcoming war with the Russians, and I don't have a dollar to spare on any more than one or two ships.
  10. Thanks for your help guys; I'm still uncertain of any major differences, however. I can't help but think most of the time I'm just gonna randomly pick which one I want to use!
  11. One problem is that I often don't see the difference between say, calvarly or airborne or security. Whenever I start a quick battle, their squads are usually identical to me. Is there really even a noteable difference besides the uniform? Thanks for all your responses, guys. I really do appreciate any help.
  12. I'm never able to pick! I know exactly what "Combined Arms", "Mechanized", "Armor", and the like mean from CMBO, but the new division thing in CMBB can confuse me sometimes. "Security", "Calvarly", "Infantry", "Mountain" and the like has got me plenty confused as what to pick and how it's gonna affect my force. Any advice out there?
  13. It doesn't seem like I'm ever successful at getting my men to run up to a tank and take it out. I'll often merely use the "move fast" command if the enemy is nearby but I'll still get shot to pieces. You guys are saying that "sneak" or "assault" works better? Whats this "Follow vehicle" movement you're talking about?
  14. Is it really done that well? An entire hex and 450 mpps for a unit that can't do anything besides sit there? I think the HQ system needs overhauling, such as the ability to assign a commander to a certain theater.
  15. I think it all comes down to the fact that Italy is actually useful militarily. How come their armies and corps are just as good as the American, British, Russian, and German ones? I read a book about the war in Africa and very small numbers of British soldiers would routinely butcher huge numbers of Italian soldiers, which were more often than not completely worthless or all too willing to surrender. I played a game as the Allies and the Italian army and navy often gave me as much trouble as the Germans. *sigh*
  16. I'd suggest they patch it up, and well then. I really wanna enjoy this game because I love the premise and the fact that it's not gonna require 45 hours for me to learn the basics (ala Hearts of Iron).
  17. Easily discouraged? I'm on the easiest mode, and my defending level 2 jet planes will lose 5 points to attacking level 0 German fighers, without inflicting a SINGLE loss on the Germans. Yes, I have an HQ. Is that correct, though? Things like this happen two or three times a turn. This is really ridiclious; I haven't seen an AI that cheats so badly in a long time.
  18. I still routinely see computer planes, attacking and with little more experience than my defending planes, score overwhelming victories. WTF? This is just terrible. I'm ready to throw this stupid game out the window. I really want it to work, but so far it's not.
  19. Why is it my level 2 jetfighters in England ROUTINELY get BUTCHERED by attacking AND inferior German planes? This is pissing me off more than a little bit.
  20. How can I get my engineers to use their satchel charges? Whenever I have them run up to an enemy vehichle or house, they still never use the charges. Thanks for any help
