Really interested in this but the pictures are not coming up...clicking "show pictures" option does nothing either...what plug in do I lack that is preventing me from seeing these images?

One of my prized books is a first edition of The History of the War between Germany and France by James D. McCabe Jr. printed in 1871. Talk about jumping into a topic when it is still fresh! Anyway, you do not need the book to read it as here it is as a Goggle e book for free.....

Anyone know when the patch will be ready?
-
So what is wanted here is a turn based Hearts of Iron...been there...done that.....

Good and fair review, though he lost me at the end when he suggested companies should price their newly released games at $10...what nonsence....

You still alive? Are'nt you supposed to 90 or something now or is this your grandson recykling your user-account?
Though I seriously doubt that I'll reach the ripe old age of 90, I'm still kicking about today....

What's an SC3?
It's the game where we re-enter the world of hexes....
-
Clearing the cobwebs off this forum to inquire if there were any thoughts of resurrecting SC1 as an app? I think the IOS/Android market could use this game as it is streamlined enough to be functional....now onto to the Russian Civil War with the WWI expansion and let the cobwebs return....
-
For me the added Russian Civil War mod will make this a worthy purchase. Though I enjoy AGEOD's Russia under Seige, I have been waiting for a more traditional boardgaming type experience along the lines of, one of my favorites, REDS and (though I never had the chance to play it) Rossyia 1917. I'm sure this mod will fit in perfectly.

It has been a month of ages since I've been here and I come to find that there is an anniversary to celebrate. Congrats Kuni and I will always recall the website/blog that you posted which had numerous memorable quotes from some of the more vociferous members of this forum.
On now to concentrate on the upcoming Russian Civil War mod that will be coming with the WWI expansion!

I've been holding off buying the game, as it has been my policy to allow a proper gestation period, but methinks that after this next patch comes out, it will be time to take the plunge!

Has it been announced somewhere that an SC3 will once again be a 20th Century War? I ask because everyone seems to assume as much. How about the American Civil War, the Franco Prussian War, a Napolean Campaign? I'm a bit tired of the glut of WWII games, and suprisingly, ever since Frank Hunter paved the way with GUNS OF AUGUST, WWI games are becoming many as well.

JP,
Good ideas for speeding up the play.
I am not engaged with this current WW1 project. I had been modifying a few unit bitmaps and sharing with Dominik (screen name Kowalewski). The project on this thread is Dominik’s.
No need to start a new Russian Civil War project now, whenever the mood strikes is good with me.

Well as coincidence will have it AGEOD announced that it will be producing REVOLUTION UNDER SEIGE which concentrates on the RCW....I thnk I'll let those more capable than I handle it...

JP,
I loved the look of your Russian Civil War mod, but it was a bit of a resource hog. Maybe it will work better with the latest game engine.
I would enjoy collaborating with you on a remake of the Russian Civil War. In fact I bought a copy of the Osprey version of the war. The Osprey version was bit slanted toward the Whites, I’ll have to pick up something from the library to get the Red point of view.
Any ways, let me know if you are motivated to work on a new version with me.
Robert
Thanks for the thought and when you finish your WWI mod PM me and we'll see about cranking up the RCW beast again.. Probably reducing the map, the force pool, and the victory condition requirements, would help speed up the game..anyway, once you have completed your current project, we'll give it a go...thanks again
-
Nice to see a couple of my Russian Civil War sprites make it to your WWI mod and I have to say that your sprites overall are fantastic. I wanted to redo the monster RCW mod I made by scaling it down a bit to make it more AI freindly and I would really like to use some of your sprites with your permission when the time comes...I'm afraid my original mod was a bit of an out of control beast!

I just purchased the game and see that I need to install the recent update..I want to play this game on my notebook which only has dial up internet service....Is there a hard copy of these updates so that I can bypass the installer as I do not see one on the patches page?...a 10mb update takes forever and times out on ocassion....thanks

Was planning to enjoy my 3 day weekend by taking some trips...might need to reconsider my options as I download!
-
Well, there's the 15 lb hardcover, or the 4 oz paperback.
Good to see you, JP. Hope the snow isn't too bad. The last few years I was up there we didn't get very much; guess it was waiting for me to move south. Pretty considerate of old Mother Nature.
I'll be heading to work soon and I'll probably be living there for the next few days...the weather gurus keep upping the totals so NJ might get as much as 20 inches...You certainly did leave at the right time JJ!!!!

Wow...someone forgot to take their meds....
And by the way, you are not kidding anyone with the "I'm outta here" crap...you'll be getting your cheap thrills by reading the responses....

ahhhhh...the return of "Hexwars"!

Appreciated JP.
Somehow it worked out that I not only didn't have any extra free time, I actually wound up with a lot less time that was spent doing anything productive. Except for reading; I went on a big reading binge, mainly medieval history for a series of Norse fantasy novels I've been writing the past few years. From what I've been reading, the 10th-11th centuries are a good time to avoid when planning a vacation. Still, my characters seem to enjoy it there.
Your scenario sounds very interesting, I'd love to dig into it but about a year back I stopped playing wargames for precisely the reason you joke about, the time factor. Which is also the reason I stopped going to the Internet a few months back, most of my free time was being used in posting. Also, people kept sending fiction for me to read and I take a long hacking my way through these things. So, in the end, I figured the best course was to grow a long beard and live in a cave.
As long as you have some Mahler playing in that cave, then I see no problem with that!
-
Glad to see you are ok JJ and welcome back...if you had all of that free time, you should have tried my Russian Civil War mod...it would have taken you a good 2 months to complete a single turn!!!!...

I simply eliminated the silhouettes and replaced them with yellow dots to show who was activated with which HQ...a helluva lot easier and less of a headache.....
Christmas Time game?
