  1. Ever since the infantry durability got downgraded to realistic levels from the original CMBO, I've been wary of using them in AT role. If Jtcm would've had some element of ambush on his side, I might've cheered for the use of pioneers. Tell me, when would have the pioneers ever gotten within 30 meters of the German armor in this battle?
  2. I beg you pardon? Pioneers aren't exactly what I call a reliable AT defense. Yes, the satchel charges pack a punch, but only at a range of 30 meters, and there's just two of them. It's been a while since I've played a game set in '41, but to my knowledge, for the price of those pioneers the player could've had an additional AT bunker, for instance.
  3. A mortar spotter would've been most useful in broken terrain; I don't think it's cost-effective with a grand total of mere 800 points. Although the puny 50mm field mortars weren't exactly the best investment either; I usually only use field mortars to attacks immobile, dug-in infantry or field guns.
  4. You mean the one that came with the image you downloaded? Just kidding, you may cool down.
  5. I know that your budget was tight, but I personally would've probably purchased some additional AT assets. Rifles and lighter guns perhaps? Although their potence tends to be poor against even early German armor, they're great for spooking your opponent, and the guns can slap infantry around a bit.
  6. Indeed. Cover arcs only control land target selection.
  7. I always thought that the shaped charge of a HEAT round would create a focused pinpoint of pressure that'd manifest as a dart of plasma or something. If temperature is not an issue, then why are modern tanks equipped with ceramic plates? I used to think that the plates were used to create heavy duty insulation, is it a case of dispersing kinetic energy instead? Also, about attaching the magnetic mines: weren't they magnetic to begin with?
  8. Using the 'print screen' solution is really clunky; someone should really point out a functional, freeware screenshot applet.
  9. If I remember correctly: the remote MG is treated like a flexible one, and it can and will be fired, even if the tank is buttoned up.
  10. *honk honk* Shake your booty, girl.. for the People!
  11. There is an important distinction here. I'm against "comedy", not comedy.
  12. Hasn't it been argued before that the German improved optics in CM prove not the accuracy, but the field of vision for the tank's crew?
  13. Ok, "hero metal" isn't an actual genre, just something I categorize all the melodramatic metal under. And still going strong! Off the track, I mean! (All questions regarding actual topic still welcome)
  14. Whaaaat, a German who doesn't listen to Nightwish?
  15. Most probable reasons: 1) Finland has had an active gaming culture for the past several decades, with several revered magazines that have been around all this time. 2) A rather high amount of internet connections per capita. 3) Our participation in WW2, and the mandatory military service we have today both probably increase our interest towards war games.
  16. Shouldn't cream taste like milk? Yes, yes. I know that unflavored ice cream is not commercially sold (not at least where I live), and thus vanilla is the "basic" flavor. Anyway, enough of that. I think everyone got the point.
  17. I'd wager it's because "vanilla" is the most basic, generic flavor of ice cream. If not specifically said otherwise, ice cream tastes like vanilla. All three open topped. I'm a genius.
  18. Well, if you ever witness this behavior again, take a screenshot.
  19. Are German armored cars truly AA capable? Maybe the open-topped ones? I have a hard time picturing a closed turret vehicle aiming at aircrafts... The flexible MG's the halftracks carry aren't the most potent AA weapons available, except the late war 251/21; the MG151 that it carries makes it possibly even more deadly against infantry and air targets than the Allied M-17.
  20. Appears so. Although if the unit is camouflaged (haven't moved, fired, non-ME), it's usually quite invisible to hostile planes
  21. Well, a truck suicide run yo be more exact. Can be considered gamey, especially when you know that the opponent will use air power. I wouldn't count on it. I'd say go for 2-3 flaks if you want guaranteed results. One flak will likely drop or scare away the bird eventually, but not before the damn plane has already peppered most of its munitions on your units. Especially if it's a Shturmovik.
