  1. And a fine job it does too! It's just a shame that the mod degrades from immersion somewhat, so I'd reccommend getting (or creating your own) lowVis Grid version. I now no longer get a headache playing the game Although it's not perfect, and the engine could do with some work in this area, for now; it does the job and I'm happy. 2. I'm not sure if requests/enquiries are allowed. But, I was wondering whether there are any scenarios out there (or creators willing to try) mimicking The Thin Red Lines Opening battle. The part specifically where they need to take the hill from the japanese. I'm no expert, but with the engines height capablities, you could pull it off no? And with the new Grass feature it look even more the part (granted the opposing forces aren't the same, but... that's a moot point anyways ) I'm not patient enough to do it myself, and I guess I'll settle for anything that resembles it. (hopefully mentioning a holywood movie isn't an issue here ) Thanks.
  3. Well thanks for all the help (sarcasm ) I just needed to change my screen resolution to 800x600 (the lowest it will go on the desktop) and the game started up fine.
  4. If your talking about retail games, then yeah, go ahead. I'd be very surprised if you found anything suspect on a retail CD (provided we are talking mainstream ) But I'd stay clear of the internet downloads, and your email (if using something like outlook) Only if you were using something like cleansweep (?) another Norton/Symantec product would you want to wait. NAV is generally considered the best. It's just pricey, especially when you consider there are free Virus Scanners out there that do a modest job.
  5. No installation errors - using Winrar 3.0 Windows XP - Latest NVIDIA Drivers for a GEFORCE 2MX Also running powerstrip - but with it turned on or off it makes no difference. I've run the previous Combat Mission without any problems, and the the CMBB demo also without any hassle. The game starts like any other - resolution changes etc. but then flashes back to the desktop. Using task manager you can see it's not actually doing anything (0% CPU Activity). I've tried pressing Enter, space, escape etc on the few seconds the black screen is up. But nothing seems to do the trick. Obviously this is pretty annoying, and a restart (as somebody else has posted) did nothing. I dont seem to be able to get past the screen configuration - as it's not creating the config files in the game dir. So any ideas on what I should do? oh and alt-tab or just clicking the game on the taskbar wont work either. It will just go through the whole flash back to desktop. on another note, I am running Style XP - would that be a problem?
