  1. You need to go to the forums at the site for Over Flanders Fields, and there's a stickied thread titled "phase 2 - DVD swap." Post in there that you'd like a copy and someone should offer to send you one.
  2. You could try Freetrack. Not sure if anyone's got it to work with OFF. The software is a free alternative that requires modifying a webcam and purchasing a few led lights. Haven't tried it, but it's got a strong, growing community.
  3. I was fairly interested in getting it until the reviews came out. Still, looking at some of the creatures makes me want to grow a few. That looks like more fun than actually playing the game.
  4. What are your specs? They've overhauled the whole thing, so it depends on your comp. You can request a free copy of Phase 2 in the DVD Swap thread at the OFF forum and see how that runs. One of the developers said if you can run P2 ok, then P3 should run ok as well. Of course, you can turn down settings as well. Here's a quote about testing: "Lowest we have tested so far is P4 2ghz, 1GB RAM, GeForce MX440 vid card (64 or 128MB?) which is pushing things some but it will run. But that will need minimal settings and some tweaking."
  5. CFS3 can be bought at Amazon for $9.99. The latest I've read says that with Phase 3 of OFF, you might not need to install it, but just insert it during install so OFF can get some files it needs. TrackIR does work... and if you don't have it, you've got to get it! The price just went down recently and it can be had for around $130 if I remember correctly. Also, if you go to the OFF forums, at the bottom is an ad for TrackIR that will discount $10. You might need to be registered with Sim Outhouse (the site that hosts the forums). I can't imagine how I played without it for so long. In my opinion, it's like flying for years without a keyboard before getting a joystick. You realize what you've been missing. Takes a bit to get used to (few minutes to a few hours, depending on you), but soon you'll really appreciate being to look around by just moving your head.
  6. I've been holding out on getting Phase 2, though not for any real good reason. I just stumbled across OFF a couple months ago. I guess because when I dive in I want the whole shebang, and P3 should be here quite soon. Also just recently got pedals and Trackir (can't imagine life without it), so really excited to get a break from IL2 and jump into some biplanes.
  7. Any flight sim buffs here? If so, have you checked out Over Flanders Fields? I haven't played any WWI sims since Red Baron 3d, but this thing looks mighty impressive. The final build (payware) is supposed to be out soon. ****** Whoops, my bad, I posted the link (infraction). Is it ok to recommend new/upcoming games as long as the link isn't provided? Or is that spam? Just thought folks interested in historical games/sims would be interested.
  8. What?! The game has gone gold??? WOOHOOO!!!! (runs off spreading rumors all over the internet)
  9. I don't know, but I haven't played CMBB in a couple years, and I intend to purchase it again with CMC when it comes out.
  10. Doesn't risktaking acknowledge risks? Granted, we've all got our preferences, and I for one like the fact that I can't take anything for granted with this game.
  11. I realize people make mistakes in the heat of combat, but 3 of 5 of my T-34's were making the same mistake at the same time. All had been given the hunt command to the top of the ridge, and 3 of them stopped in hull down positions (2 targeting same target, 1 targeting another), and each put at least 4 rounds into the ground no more than 5 meters in front of their own tanks. Now, compared to most other people on this forum I haven't done much reading on tank warfare, but from what I have read, this doesn't sound like it should be a common occurence. 12. I've had same problem. Several T-34's seeking hull down position on ridge would get clear line of sight to enemy tanks at slightly lower elevations, and proceed to shoot 5 or 6 AP rounds into the ridge 5 meters in front of them.
  13. Mr Beef may just have a beef, and I think I share your opinion, Terrapin, that his accusations, if I may call them that, are trivial and unfounded (in this instance, anyway). Nevertheless, I also don't believe he's a troll. Even if he was, your type of response is exactly what trolls troll for. I think, for the sake of this forum, which is unusually mature compared to so many others out there, best to be civil to or just ignore those who oviously won't get the point. Respectfully, Rich
  14. Typos aside, I'm really enjoying strat guide. As has been voiced already in various ways, I am grateful that we have a game made with such dedication to detail and with such a large, loyal community. Regarding all the comments of 'cheap moneymaking tactics' and 'suits', etc. well, it never ceases to amaze me the ends people will go to to gripe about something. Having been a lurker on these boards since before CMBO, my guess is if you conspiracy theorists had a chance to meet these guys, have a cup of coffee, or whatever, you'd realize that these shallow conspiracy theories are just that. Mind you, in today's market I can understand that people are quick to jump the gun. I'm not as much of a gamer as I used to be, and that's in part due to the rapidly declining quality of games ever since the 'suits' took over. Sadly, it's been a long time since I've seen a team work this hard to get things right. No one at Battlefront said they were perfect, and I wonder how much some people here truly appreciate how difficult it is to get through a monumental task like this without leaving out what others may think are 'obvious' things. Yeah, I agree that some things were left out of the manual. But there's a lot in the Strat Guide, in my opinion, that needn't be in the manual, and that no one needed to write a book about. No one's forcing anybody to buy the thing, and if you feel like your making some great statement by not buying it out of protest, well... I guess you gotta do what makes you happy (grandma's advice). I bought it, I'm happy! In the meantime, Mark, Battlefront, Martin, everybody who contributed... Thank you!!! [ December 14, 2002, 02:47 PM: Message edited by: Ultraman ]
