  1. I have went through a lot of different sound mods but I've currently settled on Oddball_E8's mod. It has oompf in the ratatatata and blaka blat blat department but the most important thing is that it is easy to discern between different weapons systems.

It's also Swedish so it's trendy, chic and vogue.

Not sure what I've done wrong, but I followed Oddball's instructions for MG..

Create a folder named Z in your Combat Mission/Data folder.

Extract my mod into that folder.

There seems to be NO music intro (or any music) for CMBN, nor in CMFI when I copy the CMFI Music folder into Z in that program?

    Thanks

    Doug

  2. So feature #6 should satisfy the crowd that thinks buttoned tanks in general spot to easily.I am proud card carrying memeber of that crowd.

    Absolutely ... :)

I can't speak for anything except the Sherman, however, buttoned down you can't see Sh$$ .... ;)

We used to engage with the cupola hatch "cracked" open enough to stick a set of binos through the opening slot to be able to spot much of anything...

    Doug

  3. No problem.... I will look here for updates... :)

By the way, I appreciate your work very much....

It makes this game far more playable for me. Without it, I'd spend half my life checking and sending emails, plus copying files to the right in-box, depending upon which game it was...

I'm not sure I would have the time to buy and keep playing Battlefront's products ...

Battlefront should be making it part of their basic install package as an option ...

    Doug

  4. Apologies for answering when I'm not GaJ, but his first post in the thread included a new direct link which he asks to be used for both Mac and PC versions of 2.9.

I've updated to Mac 2.9 from there, works fine.

    Hope this helps.

    It does... thanks .. :)

Usually his new versions for my MacBook Pro just show up automatically in the Drop Box he had me set up originally, but I'll manually download this one and install it...

    Doug

  5. Your analysis of me is incorrect.

I'd just like the AI to perform the way a human would if they had just received 15-20 rounds of 60mm and 105mm HE mix.

    That's all.

That's entirely possible, but in my humble opinion, I think you'd have to spend a lot more then $50 for a game and have a mid-frame processing platform that costs tens of thousands of dollars to get that kind of sophisticated result. :D

It's a micro-processor based PC game, complete with all the limitations of processing power and cost of development versus ROI that determines what gets delivered to the end customer.

Personally, I love the game, even when the realism isn't there, such as with the Sherman tank which has a LOT of gamey unrealistic edges, that I could write pages of criticisms about. ;)

How do I handle that, well, I used to come here and whine about realism, then I gave myself a shake and read my own counter argument above. So, now I've learned to live with the game and engine limitations, but I've met some great folks in multi-player, plus had hundreds of hours of enjoyment getting my lights punched out by them. :P

If don't want to play it anymore because you can't get enough of a realism fix from it, then I respect that, but respect the fact that I (perhaps others) think it's a fantastic $50 entertainment value for a war game on a personal computer platform.

  6. It's classic BFC public relations: hint at an announcement, then go silent for so long that the only possible explanation is that the entire team died in a plane crash, and just when people start to drift away they give in and release a paragraph of info and two screenshots. Then Steve goes off on a least a few people, writing 6 paragraph long posts about how they are too busy to release more than a paragraph of information and how taking more than two screenshots just isn't in the budget. The inevitable grumbling about the lack of new features and "why didn't they include such and such" is quashed by the beta testers with an iron fist. People begin using ridiculous phrases like "our rights as customers" and "you should be happy with what you are given". Then, just when things look their bleakest (2-3 weeks later) they come back with a big release of information and screenshots and a video, to the joy of children and children at heart everywhere.

    It's public relations 101 really.

I kid, but only a little.

Classic. You pretty much nailed the process :D.

You guys sound incredibly addicted to a computer game ... :P

Is it really that important? :D :D :D

  7. According to my update that I'm downloading now, it does this ..

The 10.7.4 update is recommended for all OS X Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac including fixes that:

Resolve an issue where the “Reopen windows when logging back in” setting is always enabled

Improve compatibility with certain British third-party USB keyboards

Address an issue that may prevent files from being saved to a server

Improve the reliability of copying files to an SMB server

  8. Ahhh... nostalgia ...

I loved the 1960's as well... weed, free love and all that stuff we used to enjoy ... :P

However, I've learned that you can't live in the past and life is pretty damn good (and fun) with the current stuff ... :D

It depends upon whether you view the glass as half full, or half empty ... ;)

..... grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

    Regards,

    Doug

  9. Was there a massive amount of firing going on at the moment you tried it? Some times when there is an extensive amount of firing and other sounds being played I'll get anomalies...stutters, dropped sounds etc.

Other than that the only thing I can think of is the bit rates and the like are off...but they shouldn't be. Check to see if they are pcm, 16 bit, mono, 44,000 khz.

    Mord.

No massive amount of firing ...

I'm on a MacBook Pro and I've had no other problems with other sound mods or PCM settings ...

Don't worry about it.... I'll just stay with other mods which work fine ... Thanks for the feedback .. :)

    Regards,

    Doug
