  1. Thanks guys. Really helpful. Stupid me, I hadn't paid any attention to the errata thread about the strategy guide. Guess I'll wait until Feb like everyone else. Who knows, if the money works out I might go ahead and pick up CMBB by then. Have a terrific New Year!
  2. I just bought CMBO over a month ago and I'm really enjoying it although I'm not too swift of a commander. Still digesting all the tutorials etc available here. I was just wondering if the CMBB Strategy guide would be very helpful for someone playing CMBO? Thanks.
  3. You got it...Toad. Hit the nail on the head. You ain't related to the Kelley's or Salin's in the midwest are you? LOL Take care
  4. Man, I thought this thread had died already. No...it just got 'older.' Pun intended. Indeed...if I could have had this game 20 years ago it most likely would have come close to changing my life. Heck, I might not even be into many sports games if this baby had been around. I remember with fondness those days with my cousin throwing the dice...reading those detailed charts...and moving those little markers in the board war games. Not any more! And today I see they have this nice strategy guide for CMBB. Well, I love playing with the American soldiers with the flag on their shoulders. So I won't be getting CMBB soon but I figure I will later on. I'm spending half of my time dl mods etc. And I know it's a little crazy but my wife keeps saying 'Are you still reading that manual and marking all over it?' And I reply with a sheepish grin like a kid...'Uh...that's a big yes...honey. Want to take a look and see if I can get my guys out of a tough jam?' Take care everybody.
  5. Agree with all the posts. I've been a Tiger Woods 2k3 golf pc game fanatic the past month but CMBO now takes up 50 per cent of my gaming time. Downloaded so many scenarios I don't know which ones to try. So I have about 5 going. Guess I really should stick with completing one but heck I feel like a kid in a big candy store. I'm a lousy commander though. Got a bunch of my Shermans stuck in mud and boxed in with each other. Trying to get a few out but the Germans keep pounding me. Bad mistake. CMBO one incredible realistic awesome game!
  6. Ok...I guess for a 58 year old man (kid) to make this post will seem silly to some. Oh well. Game arrived today. Just ordered it Mon. From VT to IL in 5 days...yeah. Just simply awesome! Don't know why it took me over a year but the good thing is I have months and months to devour on the goodies...mods...scenarios etc. Just beginning and enjoying it to the hilt. Did my first battle and I had a neat little incident. Pretty well cleared out this town with not too many GI's left. Had about 6 groups left and they were going from building to building to find the remaining foes. Spread them out...some went into this building...some out front. Boom. On the roof appears a German with a flamethrower. He proceeds to send the guys inside scattering and stirs up the gang outside. Then all of a sudden the whole building is on fire! He runs out and is finished. 2 turns later they surrender. I score 76% on my first attempt. Cool beans. As I played I thought of my dad (passed away 2 years ago) and all his stories about the war and his brother. I actually got misty eyed once or twice. This game is so realistic...and the tab/2 cam is terrific. I'm sure way down the road I'll go ahead and pick up CMBB but I have to tell ya watching those guys with the American flag on their shoulder is just way awesome. Looking forward to getting more mods...etc. It seems endless. So many fan sites. So much data. Battlefront plus all the add ons makes this the best war game I've ever played. Sure a long way from the wargame dice games when I was a wee lad. Thanks for listening. Thanks for the helpers on my other threads. I'll try to contain myself and not post of my experiences often but just had to share that this old man is one very happy camper today. God bless
  7. Well...while I await the arrival of CMBO and since I've pretty well dl all the mods etc suggested at an earlier thread (thanks guys)...I have a somewhat inane question. In the demo when you click hotkeys you get that box with all these shortcuts etc... Will there be a special card or page in the manual showing these? I can't get my printscreen paint program to reverse some colors so I don't get a good print and I'm too darn lazy to copy them all down by hand. Just wondering.
  8. Thanks fellas. I'm heading to the sites now. Have a terrific day!
  9. Left a note with Treeburst on another thread but decided I would just go ahead and post this for any others who have the time. CMBO is coming in the mail finally after months of playing the demo from time to time. While I'm waiting could some of you guys advise me on what extra's I should be dl while I wait? I have cable modem so it doesn't take long. I probably won't use any extras while I'm learning the nuances of the game but just thought it would give me some more insight into the depths of this gem of a game. Super thanks. 10. easytarget... Maybe so but I've never played anything online before. Not even in my pc golf sim hobby. Treeburst155... Man your boots and tracks site is stunning. While I'm waiting for CMBO to arrive in the mail... (Does it really come from Albania?) I wonder if you could give me some clues as to what I should be downloading in the way of scenarios and add ons etc. I know I won't do much with that for awhile since I'll just be getting to learn the bells and whistles in the game but I have cable modem so it would give me something to do in reference to the game while I wait. Sorry long sentence. Take care fellas...
  11. I finally purchased CMBO after enjoying the demo from time to time for several months. Decided on that version because I want to play the Americans. After 9/11 didn't think I could get into CMBB too well. This game rocks but I'm not too swift with the ol' brains so I'll have to take my time learning the finer points. You got him one heck of a Christmas gift.
  12. If I figured this right at some of the CM sites you can dl replays of turns and install them with pbem or something. I installed pbem and have the CM demo. But I can't get the files to show up. If this isn't difficult and wouldn't take too long...(and if indeed it's possible) is there a way to watch replays from other players with CMBO or CMBB demo's? And if so...how would one go about doing it? I'm very close to purchasing CMBO after playing with the demo for over 8 months. Think I'll go with BO because I would want to play with the Americans especially after 9/11. Thanks for all your time and consideration. Fantastic game.
  13. Thanks guys. I'll get CMBO as soon as I can. If there is one thing I've learned through these varied forums for the past few months it's that this game has great support...mods...etc etc. Have a great weekend. God bless America !!
  14. I have enjoyed the CMBO demo for sometime and I like the CMBB demo. I've finally decided I'll have enough time to enjoy one of these games in the full version. I am tempted to get CMBB but frankly I want to play as an American. For those of you who have both games (or either for that matter) is CMBO a good enough game to enjoy playing with American troops? I won't get to play alot but I'm 57 and after 9/11 last year when I would play I'd want to work with the good ol' American GI's. Thanks for your time
  15. Thanks Count Zero. I also meant to ask but figured the answer would be a resounding NO... any chance there are new scenarios for the demo?
  16. I discovered the CM demo several months after it came out but then later changed PC's and it got lost in the shuffle. Well, I've rediscovered this amazing wargame and intend on getting CMBB. In the meantime I was wondering if there are mod's for the demo? Thanks
