  1. Run and hide them or disband. Seriously, with the mandatory interception, if you don't have the superiority or even if equal and they attack 1st, you're airforce won't survive. They attack, you are forced to intercept and lose at a seemingly 3-1 or worse rate... you try to build back up to an attacking strength, next turn you are forced to intercept again... same cycle and all you do is waste MMPs while they pound on your ground units.
  2. mwenek, how did you get HC to run on XP? I've tried everything I could think of and it still won't run.
  3. all intercepting is good for is destroying the intercepting airforce.
  4. you are using your airforce and reinforcing units right? Multiple air strikes on units followed by 1-2 ground unit attacks works well. And reinforcing is cheaper than buying new units and you get to keep some of the experience.
  5. The intercepting units already suffer a 'terrible disadvantage'. From the beginning of the game, my interceptors are losing 3 to 1 in terms of strength. I guess this game is just designed for the allies to crap out in airpower until '43 or so... run/disband your airpower until then, cause it's useless. Sorry, but my air charging straight into certain death and I can't do a thing 'cept run to do CAP over Iceland is 1 thing that comes close to ruining the game for me... I gotta pull back perfectly fine airforce or lose them at ridiculous percentages because they are all stocked with Kamikazee pilots.
  6. The RAF was going to relocate because the Luftwaffe was directly going after the RAF... they stayed because the Luftwaffe started hitting cities. I have no problem moving my UK airforce back if the German airforces are attacking that unit directly. There are plenty of instances in WW2 of holding back forces in preparation/buildup for a counter-attack. I just wish I had the option of saving airforces for using them in an attacking manner. I don't see giving us the option to turn off interception to be so bad for the game. Those who don't believe in it can turn on interception and the game plays the same way it is now. If someone you're playing PBEM with turns it off, you get free attacks without having to worry about interception. This is a game of 'WW2 what if' right? What if I could chose to intercept or not? Would that change the outcome if I could use my full strength, 'not weakened by interception' French airforce unit to counter with a couple of French armies and destroy a Panzer unit or 2 before France falls? Would that greatly effect Barbarossa? This point may all be moot because it may be to much code/work for them to implememnt in a patch, but for SC 2, I'd hope they'd at least consider it.
  7. I don't see that another turn needs to be added, just a check box or something. It may not be easy enough to do to add to a patch. I don't know, but I'd turn off intercept for most of the early part of the game when the Germans destroy most of my airforces just because I'm intercepting them. If we were allowed to turn off intercepts, maybe the French airforce would have enough strength to actually do something in the beginning of the war.
  8. Well, I'm always worried about Germany and have most of my forces aimed at them, so I take them out 1st. Italy never has any air power, so once the Germans are gone, you can demolish them easily.
  9. US rockets would only be used in an invasion of the US/Canada. I'd stop production/research of them if I were you.
  10. yeah, I liked the diplomacy & resource options in HC... too bad I can't get the thing running with XP. It was the best $5 from a bargain bin I ever spent on software.
  11. I only play at Normal, +0, but I've wished I could turn off the interceptor feature. My full strength airforce does no damage while losing 4 points while my defending ground unit hurts the enemy while losing only 1-2 points. Of course, if the enemy intercepts me, I'm losing 4-5 points before I even get to attack his ground unit. This with normally a 1-2 tech advantage over the enemy air unit. It has gotten to where I don't attack his ground units unless I mass air units and take out the defending air through massed means. And forget about Russia having any airforce with interception going on, it isn't worth the $$ to keep the units going when they keep getting blown out of the sky the next turn. Didn't the Japanese after a while only go up after bombers? Or was that just Black Sheep fiction? In other words, they chose when to intercept or not intercept? Also, if you are the Germans, forget about trying to take out the Malta air unit. I've been lvl 5 tech vs lvl 2, 15 strength vs 10 strength and I'll lose my unit if I continue to attack. Thankfully, I can operate rockets to Sicily to seriously weaken the defending unit. BTW, what is up with fog of war and air units? Couldn't the forces being attacked recognize the strength of the air fleet attacking them? and the # of losses they inflicted? And when you go attack an enemy airforce, shouldn't you be able to tell the strength of the forces at the airfield? Maybe the effect shouldn't last past the actual attack so you'd have to pay attention during the attack to find out the size of the attacking/defending unit. But, after attacking an air unit with 2-3 air units, you'd think you'd have a brief idea of the strength that is left before reinforcements. 12. They are stuck. You cannot transport rockets. UK's only use of them would be for terrorizing the french coast or defense of Sea Lion. I've only built rockets for Germany, Russia or Italy, the mainland powers who can use them in the main battle areas. France can use them, but they have more pressing needs.
  13. I like EU2 and SC. I haven't played it multi player, but, some EU2 players liked the challenge of not changing the time scale... SC is a turn based game, EU2 isn't. You would find some fans of EU and probably HoI who would find SC boring because it's turn based. I can't say HoI will be fun or won't be, but a global WW2 game does interest me, and I liked EU2 and it's RTS element enough that unless they screw HoI up and it gets horrible reviews, I'll buy it like I'd buy any good WW2 strat game that gets decent reviews. 14. Corps attack at a 1 and defend at a 1, Armies at a 2. Corps have more action points and can move further in a turn than armies can. This is all from my memory, so the #'s could be wrong.
