For instance over at Buntaland you can learn about the old gamers.
Like this one:
Lucky Zebra aka Herr Zebra or Lucky Elephant or Lucky Hippo or Lucky Zorba or Lucky Beaver or Arjuna
Spam phenomena emerging in 2003 with the sole intention of wrecking havoc. Zebra used to play a lot of SC tcp/ip but got frustrated and quit SC calling it a waste of time. However instead of moving on Lucky Zebra set out to ruin the board by spamming it. His first attack filled two pages of threads before the moderators could catch up. His second attack with a new id “Lucky Elephant” was the most successful spam-attack in the board's history, stomping in 20 padlocks before banning.
After this the spamming stopped but a new person “Lucky Zorba” signed up. This person was not spamming the board like Zebra or Elephant had done and Zorba denied knowing who they were but the word “Lucky” was by now not a good name to chose in the eyes of the moderators. So after some rather strange posts suspicion arose both by the members and administrators and Zorba was banned. It’s not clear to this day if this really was Lucky Zebra or some one innocent or perhaps a copycat.
Time passed and it would take until 2004 before the next attack followed. Lucky Hippo emerged for a brief moment and spammed the board before moderators could threw him out. After this a short time elapsed before “Herr Zebra” joined the board telling everybody he was Lucky Zebra and back to finish his work. However this the fourth time around moderator Moon acted swift and “Herr Zebra” was immediately disposed with just a record of 1 posts.
After that incident no attacks have been conducted. A new player has signed up with the name “Lucky Beaver” but apperently with no intention of disrupting activities. As with Zorba no one knows if this is another of Zebra’s reincarnations.
Lucky Zebra is known for his humorous and hillarious style which is easy to recognise. Together the different lucky characters holds the record for most pad-locks.

I actually think that Bill and Matthew's Poland 1939 scenario is totally overlooked. Playing that one with large map and divisional sized units is where I think sc2 waw got huge potential.
-
Don't know if all you new guys have visited the SC Community fansite yet but feel free to do.
You find the link at the bottom of this post.

It should be changed now...

Bill:
I also found out the hard way that experience is a killer and need to be reduced. Have you worked with tech-levels and combat values to reduce the impact of combat?
-
Hey guys, if you already have joined facebook, how about we start a strategic command group there?
-
Historical reason, the unit-size here is corps or larger. Russian artillery-corps arrives when it did historically. So does the german artillery-unit.Originally posted by John DiFool the 2nd:Kuni, any reason why Russia has to wait until Spring '43 for artillery?
-
Thank you for your kind words. Feel free to come up with more suggestions. I 100% agree that this is the right scale for corps-sized scenarios, hopefully more will follow.Originally posted by PanzerMike:3- Why can't I strategically move units in/through occupied Russia?? As long as I have a rail line this should not be a problem, right?
4- Are there any real consequences if Moscow or Leningrad would fall (national morale drops or something?
That's it so far. Kudos for HC and all the others for making a fun game!
to answer your questions:
3 - Yes you should be able to move, but the cities might not be up to strength. When they reach 5 I think then railroads to that destination works again. Historically one of the absolute key factors on the eastern front was disrupting the enemy's railroad net.
4 - Leningrad - no consequences. Moscow - you will lose supply in all russian cities as a result of losing a vital communication-center.

The media-folder for the WaW scenario Battle for Russia now at cmmods.com. Just unzip into your Battle for Russia campaign directory.
Included is for example Goebbels Total war speech, Churchill's comment on the German invasion, and Hitler's admirable speech about the Finnish war effort...

Man can you imagine it's been 5 years! I really think Battlefront should plan for a community gathering next year.
What do you think, anyone would like to meet up for some gaming and party next year?

Rambo+Terif:
Guys do you ever think for yourself: "here I am +30 years playing sc2 all night long. God I need a life"
-
If I had the time to play I would beat Terif for sure.
But I never committed much time to sc1 and never played a mp 1939 game in sc2.
But from experience, all strategy games Ive devoted time to like yahoo chess, yahoo chinese checkers, axis and allies and others I always reach number 1.
It's all about devotion, sure I have a lot of IQ(130+) but it's all about training hard. For me at least.

Are you a spy?
1. Yes
2. Yes click and move, very easy to understand
3. Dont play AI you bastard
4. Good enough for people to kick your ass
Now go get your camp Kuni soldier kit and on to battle, you maggot!!!!
-
Are you still playing at your mom's house?
-
I'd love to see a great winter war scenario on the regiment scale. Is anyone doing it? I know someone tried long ago but I think he quit.
Anyone up for the task?
-
Oh it's finally ended. We are free! Free at last!!!

Well is'nt that what the current president from texas are doing in a way? Seem pretty realistic to me...Originally posted by Frost:Powergmbh,

I found this out:
Rambo is a mix of Capitalista, Ferrous Cranus and
JerseyJohn is Ente
Biowizard is Perv
Desert Dave is a mix of Artiste and philosopher
Madmatt is Admin
Targul is Centurion

so now this turned out to a dating thread?

Yes I could import the old map with resources, rivers and terrain. But due to the expanded resource and terrain file(lots more buildings and nature  ) things will not always appear correctly. For example mountain in sc2 show up as marsh bitmap, but you can easily just shift this back. Some features can't be imported but I don't see this as a big problem. My scenario was imported and fixed pretty quick.Originally posted by J P Wagner:Kuniworth, excellent map..One question, were you able to use your original Battle for Russia map as a template to add all of the new additions, or did you have to remake the map from scratch?
So no way you can escape making that russian civil war scenario!

Great.Originally posted by ev:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Kuniworth:
It's now possible to have a cap on experience(set in this campaign to a max of 1) and chose how expensive upgrades should be.
Can we set different experience caps for different units. Say "1" for infantry, but, "3" for air fighters? </font>

One my word, no I'm not Lucky Zebra. But I went through all the threads from 2002-2005.
