  1. Mike, I realize that this is not real time strategy game that's why I said it was kind of slow. Cause I would plot a move and then I needed to wait until the AI does, then view it and then once again I plot the move. I'll look into the game though. Is there a CMBB demo out?
  2. WOW this is a really active community even on saturday? Thanks for the help. How is CMBB different then it's previous version, other then better graphics and physics I hope. Also, does the game engine in CMBB count multiple hits? I played WWIIONLINE and for some reason the guys there modeled the system to count one hit only. Meaning, if you shoot the tracks of the tank 5 times, the game counts it as one shot. So basically you have one shot to damage a tank and have to keep working on different parts of the tanks. I hope i am making sense here. At first I though CMBB was a sim.
  3. Slow meaning, it took awhile to get some action.
  4. Hi, I'm new to the whole battlefront.com idea. I remember downloading a demo of Combat Mission and really hating it, because I twas a strategy game and I really like strategy games but this one was really slow and the menus were annoying. I decided to check back in and saw a new eastern front software coming up. Can anyone tell me more about it? In other words, will it still be handaled as previous version of CM? What will be the main difference between CM: EASTERN FRONT and RTS from UBI. Thanks for the help guys.
  5. I just found this sight of WWII plastic model tank movies. I just watched the JagdTiger movie! Ya gotta see this: http://www.incl.ne.jp/~hinoki/mov1.html Each movie is about a MB, so cable-modem or DSL only. Richard Kalajian
  6. I have DELL Inspiron 7000 w/64 MB and PIII 450 and that glitchy ATI Rage Video and the DEMO runs beautifully. Wait time is a little high when setting the opposing force to 150% - results in the CPU needing to calculate three times as many moves. However overall turn calculation and playback is only slightly different than my desktop with all the bells and toys and whistles. I am not a big fan of DELL, but I would have to say the game runs perfectly fine with the DELL laptop. Any laptop will have a significantly slower hard drive (5400 rpm or less) resulting in basically slower performace than any comparable desktop. My PIII 450 DELL is no faster than my DELL Celeron 366. Currently, with all laptops, the bottleneck is the Hard Drive. Richard Kalajian
  7. SPOILERS: Why couldn't they just make a historically accurate submarine movie and include the capture of U-505 within. Why show such an unrealistic concentration of depth charges? Why have non-Germans fire a U-Boat deck gun and knockout a radio station with 1 shot? Why have an underwater sub-fight with no less than four near misses and torpedo's crossing each others path? Why include Keitel in this movie? How in the world could a small crew (6 or so) Americans pilot a German Sub? God that is so stupid! Why use a Balsa-Wood German Destroyer for the end-scene explosion? Why does law allow this movie to make claims that it is the best sub-movie ever? I will applaud hollywood for at least continuing to provide some form of WWII entertainment, albeit significantly beneath mediocre. Richard Kalajian
  8. BTS, Yikes mu last post was a little misleading. I was only in Costa Rica a couple months. No laptop. No phone. Just beer, surf, sand, locals and a few tourists. No I am in Milwaukee (67 miles from Chicago). To answer your question I have no experience logging in to the WWW from Costa Rica. However, I am having a great deal of trouble with the phone company here in Milwaukee just gettting a clean 28.8 for the first couple weeks. Thank God I'll have cable-modem in 21 days. Can't wait to see them Tiger Tanks rolling on my screen. Richard Kalajian
  9. Great, I leave for Costa Rica, move away from Chicago, return to this board only to find out that Rune was showing CM just down the road from me. Richard Kalajian
  10. Some more beautiful things: The Costa Rican Resort is owned by a friend from Kindergarten and I stay for $15/nite. Actually owned by his Uncle. He also is starting a charter fishing company and wants me to fish with him. The girls in Costa Rica are world class and very kind. Beer is $1 in the bars. Food is good and cheap. It is said that a person can have a home, chef, maid and food for under $10,00 per year. Things ultra-wild: Saturday, I had no intention of moving, quitting or selling my house. Five days later my house is sold, and I'm headed on a 6 month wirlwind ultra-low-cost getaway. Also: No debt. No bills. What about my stuff? Public storage is dropping off containers in my driveway on December 3, I fill em and they store em. Total cost for all this for 6 months is $540. What about work? I have 437 hours of vacation, money outstanding from past sales and several recent sales to a couple of physician billing services in Iowa and Illinois. I expect to receive around $4,500 from tax return. So the answer to your question Fionn is no i didn't win the lottery. Not even close. But I figure at age 34, doing something like this and seeing a punk rawk show will be therapeutic. Sincerely, Richard Kalajian
  11. Guyz, Having thought more about the inclusion or exclusion of something like the SturmTiger, I have changed my desire from wanting to see it in action to not wanting to see it at all. The problem I see with adding the Sturmtiger follows. Whenever I play a game with ulitmately powerful German Armor, I am always most happy when the scenario includes ridiculous stuff like Maus's and Panther IIF's. So I don't play with lesser creatures like the Stug III, which due to CM, has gained great admiration by me. I hope that CM doesn't add the SturmTiger and stuff like that, because I will always be more focused on scenarios that utilize that big junk. User-created scenarios will invariably include more and more unrealistic quantities of rearely-used supposedly super-weapons and I would play em. And now I have tasted the CM fruit, seen the effects of coordinated attacks, watched and learned as the Stug III chews apart the defences, and experienced almost first hand the effectiveness of this magnificent creature. BTW thanks Thomm, Madmat & Fionn for the answers. Sincerely, Richard Kalajian
  12. BTS, What is shipping to Costa Rica? I recently listed my house (Sunday), sold it Tuesday, am retiring for a while (age 34), moving in 14 days into storage, spending December with Family, January / February and March in Costa Rica, April & May house sitting a beautiful lake home on the largest Pike producing lake in SE Wisconsin. Richard Kalajian "Soon to be unemployed for 1/2 year"
  13. Punkrawk, Come on man. You know why the mine roller thingy bobber tank is in the game. 1) The roller can provide a truly sensational spinning squashing action that crushes and pulverizes unsuspecting German Infantry. 2) It is impervious to German Artillery and Air Attacks, then again everything seemed to be in CC IV. 3) The Mine Roller offered the best combination of armor and fire power to combat the infamous German Heavy Tank. The mine roller could easily outgun all German Armor ya know. Then again I might be wrong. Richard Kalajian
  14. Mr. Punk Rawk, I second that, but I might suggest picking up some Tiger Tank prints from BTS instead. I was able the DEMO once. IT is actually uninstalled and deleted from my system. Sincerely, Richard Kalajian "May be going to a Punk Rawk show soon"
  15. I vote NO, especially after downloading last nite, a recent DEMO of the fourth version of a war game that has allowed custom mods. Weird thing is that the DEMO was able to command my attention for all of about 23 minutes, and it has already been deleted. Long live CM and no MODS! Sincerely, Richard Kalajian
  16. FEBA, Tell your wife this: "Guess what honey, Combat Mission will have more than 2,000,000,000 possible scenarios and because of that I Love you even more. Richard Kalajian
  17. Fionn, Nice picture. Hhhmm, Uhmm, Err... is that a little King Tiger lurking in the fog. Richard Kalajian
  18. Wow. I found the answer and that is really cool. I would have never guessed. Richard Kalajian
  19. Lee & Richard III, How can the SturmTiger be effective in CM with a 10 minute reload? I would still like to see it though. I am very much a big German armor junky. However, CM's board has taught me much about the lack of effectiveness of this junk. I still can't wait to witness it first hand. Richard Kalajian "wanting more and more to go to a Punk Rawk Show"
  20. Punk Rawk, I too am afraid of Libraries. I have something to whine (joking) about though. Every time I see your post I can't keep from reading the following: "We ain't got no place to go,let's go to a punk rawk show" And I want you to know it is working. Now I find myself suggesting to friends that we go to a Punk Rock show. I don't think I like Punk Rock, but I wouldn't know, because I have no reference point. Possibly you can fill us in on what a Punk rock show is like. Sincerely, Richard Kalajian "I don't know why I wanna go, but let's go to a Punk Rawk Show"
  21. Argo, That is most awesome news about your successful Windows repair. We all (probably all and certainly most) have had to resort to your most recent style of system fix, i.e., reinstall Windows to run a new game. I am sure you will agree that the effort was worth having access to the finest war game of all time. Also, Windows 98 SE full install has been a much more stable environment than any other for me. Windows 98 update from win 95 with downloaded update files was never really been a very stable solution for me. Lastly, I am sure BTS will greatly appreciate the $50 purchase and would surely miss it should you elect not to make the purchase. My guess is that you have experienced or witnessed a great deal of effort on behalf of BTS to make sure the software works well for all users and to respond to all users needs. I have never seen such great support from any company prior to BTS, except INFINITI automobiles. I'm sure you didn't piss off any BTS guys (although I can't speak for them). I had two recent horrifying experiences with Harmon International. One with Harman Kardon that took 10 months to resolve and one with Infinity speakers that took 4 months to resolve. Almost one year later I have a $4,000 one speaker surround system and am finally one day away from resolution. Sincerely, Richard Kalajian
  22. Argo, I researched the microsoft.com software error files and performed several searches. After correctly matching the stack dump to Microsoft article 12932483-23a.23, I have discovered the fix: FdReWReD = Format Disk, reinstall Windows and reinstall Drivers. Hehehehe (kidding). You did mention that you do not have a terribly over-customized PC, but I must say it is quite custom. For one, you have the processor overclocked (1% of PC's) and 2nd you have a 3D card piggy-backed off a 2D/3D card. Yikes, even Diamond doesn't recommend that. It is actually more likely that your system is confusing CM, than CM confusing your system. I used to run the Viper 550 and two 12MB Guillemot Voodoo II's. Sold the two voodoo II's for $125 and ran the 550 solo for a while. Then I replaced the 550 with a 770-Ultra. I promised the 550 to (PIXMAN I think?) and then never sent it. I lost the e-mail for the buyer. Anyways, lockups and crashes with other games are virtually gone since replacing the Voodoo II cards. Another CM'er mentioned the following in an e-mail to me regarding TNT: " First, the InControl tools won't work correctly with DirectX 7 until the next version of the Diamond drivers are released. This is supposed to happen in the next few weeks, according to the tech support guy". I might add that Diamond Drivers are typically very late (like a year late). Anyways, I hope you get it fixed. I don't know if any easy solution exists. Richard Kalajian
  23. Wanna see the multi-turreted Russian Behemoth? Wanna hear more about it? Also has some very funny stories about it's battle-field history. Here is the Russian KV-VI "Behemoth" http://www.track-link.net/gallery/data/kvvibf.html HERE is the T-35: http://www.track-link.net/gallery/data/t35vd.html Richard Kalajian [This message has been edited by kingtiger (edited 11-14-99).]
