  1. I can play a lot on Sunday and would love to try it. Hickmanj@email.arizona.edu
  2. Just like the line says (wouldn't let me post without text here)
  3. In an earlier post, Gunslinger mentions how the German planes pounded a mine instead of low units. I noticed this last night while playing as the Axis. I play with all the "pro" Ally choices on, so taking Russia is a long process with partisan activity, no war in Siberia to tie them up, and scorched earth taking away the spoils of victory. As a result, the United States and Britain landed a sizable invasion force in '42 in western France, complete with two HQs (the best landing I've seen the AI make to date). The Brits had Jets 2 and then 3, and had about 10 planes (mixed - Free French, USA, Brit) pounding France and the Low Countries. However, they always would move onto a stronger unit instead of pounding one unit into oblivion. They could have completely stalled my eastern front, if they had finished off the 2-3 units a round that naval and air power reduced. Instead they would get them to 4/5 strength and then choose a different target. Is there hopes of a patch that would cause the computer to focus on finishing off a unit? It is always more expensive to buy a new unit then to just reinforce even an inexperienced entrenched one. In Russia, I focus on finishing off units, even if they have lesser strategic value because it drains Russia's resources much faster to fill the "gaps" in their defensive lines. Any thoughts? J
  4. hickmanj@email.arizona.edu Those are amazing - I would like them as well! Wonderful work! J
  5. In the forum people keep talking about "level", like intermediate etc. And default settings. What exactly does this mean? I am at work and cannot access the game, but do they mean the setting on the screen where you pick Axis or Allies? And what do they mean by "default" - is this where you select scorched earth etc.? I tend to zoom through the settings to play, since I am only playing my second game and still learning the ropes... just curious if I was missing some way of tweaking the AI (which so far has been aggressive in my games) Thx J
  6. This was addressed under "Major Complaint" and is such a valid point that I thought it needed its own post. To the developers of Battlefront You have given us a GREAT game - is such a patch possible? If so, you would be worshipped even more for adding it to this incredible game! Thx- Jason
  7. Thank you for... 1) Making my wife want to divorce me after yet another night of me coming to bed at 3AM (...just... one... more.... turn....) 2) Turning my day job into a non-productive haze, in which I mainly think about my newest strategies 3) Causing my one year old to think that daddy is a cyborg since he's always attached to that funny looking machine all night, yelling and banging the table in triumph and defeat What a GREAT game - I have never spent money so well - all of you who developed it have my sincere THANKS! Peace, J
  8. I keep reading how people have huge tech levels and have managed to conquer most of the countries around Germany (Axis posts). How do you do this? I am playing a game now and have pushed Russia back to the Urals by 1942 - by early 43 I will have probably taken their second capital. BUT, my techs are low and the Brits are eating me alive with Jets. I invaded Greece and Yugo early in the game, and, of course, have Denmark, Norway. How do you up your techs so much and field the armies you need to progress? Or am I pushing too far too fast? Do many of your advances come 42 and after? I would appreciate hearing vets share some of their resource distribution strategies after taking, say, Poland, Denmark and Norway - what do you do then? How do you distribute your forces and resources?? This game is amazing - I have waited sooooooo long for a WW2 game that plays at this level without being to "beer and pretzels" like Axis and Allies. Thanx for any help! Jason
  9. I have played 3 games through as Axis (on easy) and have yet to see any landings or combat take place in Africa/Middle East. Usually I just maintain a small Italian fleet and this seems to keep the aircraft carrier and ships at bay in the east - even though they could probably clean up if used right away. What has been others' experiences? J
  10. It sounds like the game truly makes big decisions differently from game to game (which is a GREAT thing!) I played on easy as the Axis and was whipping Russia (had almost defeated them by September 1942). I hadn't attacked Britain though so that might be the reason. The Americans showed up in France (I had a corps in every city, an army, an HQ and two planes - so it wasn't exactly empty!) and landed about 10 units over three turns with combined assaults from ships and aircraft from Britain. So it may be that your taking Britain made such a huge shift. Also, how were you doing against Russia? Were you slower going against them? Just curious Jason
  11. I've read the documents - but the research seems rather arbitrary in how it works and I am interested in hearing from others. For example, as Germany, I had 3 points in Jet Fighters right after defeating France in May of 1940. By 1941 I had 5 points there (max) - and yet by the END of 1942 I still had not received Jet Planes level 1 - yowza! I also experienced this with heavy tanks. It seems that if I put one or two points different places EACH TURN the computer actually checks - I'm wondering if points that are left sitting don't register? Anyhoo, please share your experiences with research and if it works steadily for you, randomly, not at all etc. Thx - Jason
