  1. If you follow the Rangers for any length of time, you won't be shocked with that stat. It's the same every year. I think that the Rangers have the best hitting coach in baseball (Rudy Jaramilo) and are in a great hitters park (who's idea was that???) and they have the worst pitching staff year after year. There's a saying in baseball: "as the Texas weather heats up, the Rangers pitching staff cools off" and it's true. They start to fall apart around the All-Star break every year.
  2. I made the same offer in 2005? Damn I'm getting soft in my old age.... Ok brother, hang tight, stay safe and let us know how the ride was....
  3. GWDWD, haven't seen on this forum since the switch-over, but if you're monitoring and debating on moving up north out of the Houston area to ride out the storm and need a place to stay, post here or email; I can accomodate.
  4. We live in a war-zone so all are entitled to stock up on anti-tank mines? I don't understand the rationale. And no, I haven't even bothered to read the story yet....correction, just read the story and I say good for "the West", if that spares one soldiers life or limb, then we did our job. Come on, he had 20 freakin' mines in his house. Where's the human rights activists that go around cleaning up mines from old wars in this case? Instead they want to defend this terrorist that is stocking up on them with written intent on their use against coalition forces?
  5. The Obama campaign manager better get their boys squared away before it gets much worse. Seems that the Palin pick has them all turned-around; do we do character attacks, don't we do them, do we hit the issues, ignore the issues...lipstick on a pig, old fish in a wrapper.....
  6. You can feel the energy zapping away from the Obama campaign. Let's face it, Biden was not the signature "change" that he's been promoting and now their making (lipstick & moose shooter) quips about Palin on the trail instead of going after McCain; whom he'll be on stage debating soon. Maybe I'll call a prediction that Obama sacks Biden and pulls Hillary back onto the ticket at the last moment. That would really shake things up. I know that I'll draw snickers, but has anybody seen the O'Reilly/Obama interviews? Obama on O'Reilly. Ok, I agree, let's have McCain on Matthews or (choke) Keith Overbite's show for comparison's sake....
  7. In case it wasn't posted in this thread previously; Palin Fact Check (Newsweek)
  8. Do you only play with yourself? <snicker> If so, I have no suggestions. If not, then I'd recommend ASLSK via VASL. Once you go "manual piece manipulation", you won't go back. <more snickers>
  9. MLK Does either Sarah Palin or MLK know "God's will" more so than one another?
  10. Gen. D. Eisenhower Gen. G. S. Patton President F. Roosevelt And I can go on and on all the way back to R. E. Lee and George Washington. So is the point that her views are unique? That they are wrong in her convictions? Were the other quotes provided also "disturbing"?
  11. Is there any way to hide the "Announcements" so that I don't have to scroll down half the page before I get to the threads of each forum?
  12. Will do Dakuman. I know that the developer of COH has said that a VASSAL module was in the works or being looked into, so online/pbem play support will be forthcoming as well. Everything that I've read shows that this is a real clean and easy system to get into. You can download the rules from the companyof heroes website if you want to get an idea of how it plays.
  13. Good player review of Conflict of Heroes (this is the boardgame COH): LINK
  14. As Lars rightly points out, there's several different degrees of Assault and the penalties for each vary from state to state. Why ask here, have him get an attorney no matter how "simple" he believes the assault was.
  15. I've heard/read somewhere that if the LnL title has "Hero" in it, it is a core module; FWIW.
  16. Heh, sorry about the confusion. Bill, will do on the COH review - I've already downloaded and printed the rules and it looks like it'll be a fun little game. What will be nice is that armor will be an easy introduction instead of like ASL (which I'm still learning). I pre-ordered my copy of COH from wargamedepot.com btw. Ok, I'll turn it back over to you pixel pushers for chat about your game.
  17. I have "Conflict of Heroes" on pre-order - no relation to the game you mention here though.
  18. No problem - I'm just helping the developer with the graphics for the game and honestly, it is a bit bland of a palette to work with. However, I do think that it captures the look and feel of the old boardgames nicely, so it will be a game catered to the niche market that's for sure.
  19. Well crap, I'll keep working on the graphics for it then. Sorry that you didn't like it. Curious, do you play board wargames (or did you)? It may be very hard to please people used to FPS/RTS games with a cover of an old boardgame like this; it's obviously going to appeal to the old-school crowd and not newer/younger players (not saying that you're "newer" or "younger"....).
  20. If you do get a game going, post a mini-AAR if you will, I'd be interested to see how it comes out. I'm enjoying a beta-test game of Computer War in Europe II, not sure if you saw my screenshot post in the "Games you're waiting for" thread. The game is very simple to play, there was very little learning curve however it accurately simulates the largest board wargame ever made in both the rules and size of the map and number of units. There's a lot of units to manipulate, but I find that pbem turns take 10-15 minutes tops unless there's a big front that just opened up.
  21. Does it still combine the UK and USA's units together as if they were a single nation?
  22. Frustrating game for Rangers fan. They start down 10-0 after the first inning and then down 12-2 after the 2nd only to fight all the way back and actually take a 16-15 lead after 7. They then proceed to give up 4 runs in the 8th and can only pick up one more run in the top of the 9th. Nice effort to come back after the game seemed over so early but a shame that the bullpen fell apart so late. The Rangers have had a number of big come-from-behind games this year and it's been fun to watch. I'm glad that they didn't sell the farm (so to speak) at the trading deadline, they have the makings of a good, young team with the usual caveat for them: they need pitching. As an aside, some may recall that I mentioned my friend Ryan Ludwick (Cards). The last thing that I told him as he was leaving the gym the night before leaving for spring training was that he was going to have a break-out year and make the all-star team. My premonition came true and I'm so happy for him. We joke now that he's going to sign the big contract and then return to our little town with a "posse" all riding in a convoy of Escalades.
  23. Ok, after going a number of turns in the beta of CWIE-II as a beta-tester, I must say that this will be one finely polished game. Pbem/solo only though (unfortunately) but that's ok with me as I get tired of beating up on weak AI's anyway. The game comes with it's own "Pbem Helper" type emailer application while also enforcing all the rules of the monster boardgame. This is going to be one slick game, seriously. Screenshot
  24. Victory Games "Carrier" handles all of these procedures very nicely, especially for a game that is played as solitaire only. And I'd post a freakin' link to the game directly, but BGG.com is down yet again, which seems to be a nightly occurrence lately....
