  1. Talking about the total conflict in the East from 41-45 and the enmormity of the losses in life (both civilian and military) is mind boggling. You have to remember the CMBB will provide engagements that represent isolated pieces of the entire conflict. I dont believe that you will see scenarios depicting the entire battle of Kursk for example. Trying to realisticly represent casualty ratios as they occurred in the actual conflict will not happen in this game. Unit experience, weapons, and the skill of the player will most likely determine total casualties at the end of a CMBB battle. The game would be no fun if one sided battles and ops were all that was provided.

  2. Believe it or not, most German Heer, Waffen SS, Fallschirmjaeger and other misc ground units, featured an excellent rapport between the enlisted men and most junior and senior officers. Most German battalion commmanders led their units from the front, and knew a lot of their troops by sight and name. In reading accounts of the war written by German survivors a common thread runs through all of them. These men were willing to go through extreme measures to get back to their original units, if they were returning to the front from leave or convalescence. This indicates that in spite of politcal indoctrination from Commissars or whatever, most men fight for their friends, officers and units, and not for some political ideal.

  3. Information is very helpful, guess there is no way to determine the absolute minimum based on all variable factors. At least I know I dont need a CRAY to play CMBB. I guess it would be a matter of personal choice, pocketbook, and how great you want the graphics to look. I really just want to PLAY the game, although hi-res graphics add to the immersion factor, I can enjoy the game more if my battle replays dont freeze, and my mouse control stays true. Cant wait to battle it out in the Tractor Factory, I hope there are a few Stanlingrad scenarios.

  4. Commissar,

Thanks for taking the time. I know you are right about the mass market machines. Its nice to just plunk down the 700 or 800 US for them, and just hook up the periphs', but as you say they are obsolete in two years. I've gotten lazy in my old age, and I havent really gone wild over a computer game until CMBO came out, lets say I'm hooked now, and if this game could also give oral favors I wouldnt need anything else. All I need is a machine that will run CMBB without impairments and I'll be happy. I'll take your advice though and check out the custom built stuff. Thanks again.

  5. Commisar,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately right now I dont know the card type for my PC. Im thinking it might be built directly into the motherboard and not in one of the slots, but I am not sure. I have had some performance issues with CMBO, and I have a mixture of Hi&Lo Res graphics in my game, so I know I may have a problem with CMBB. Can I get back to you?

  6. Great job, love the detail. I hate to be a wet blanket at this great party, but what are the PC hardware requirements going to be to PLAY CMBB, do I have to go out and buy a new machine? I just dont want to look at the graphics, I want to rock and roll on the battlefield. I'll buy a Cray if I have to, I have an HP Pentium III 700mghz 256 RAM.

    Cant wait for September.

  7. Hello all, my first post ever on this site, although I have been following it since starting to play CMBO last year. "It Never Snows in September" is an excellent compliment to "A Bridge too Far" for one big reason. It explains and details how the Germans cobbled together an effective defense comprised of disparate and widely scattered units. The difficulty of the terrain and the numerous bridges wouldnt have stopped the Allies alone, if there were no German units in the way. It is an excellent read.

"Soldiers of Destruction" is an excellent East Front book dealing mainly with Waffen SS formations and their actions in the East.
