  1. Considering the main cause of concern for Russia now is China, I'm quite sure they will have to adapt their quantity tactics, for quality themselves, and they cannot hope to match China man for man. Its ironic that during the entire 'cold' war, most of the russian troops were deployed towards china.. It's always been weird to think that russia needed more land...considering what they got..even in their diminished form now... However they have a VERY hungry neighbour, who would love siberia for themselves Janster
  2. Close assault ,is a thing of WW2.. Engineers might have C4 charges, but I seriously doubt engineers today will charge tanks.. Mostly you just wait for AT support Janster
  3. Shrug, I tried the beta... But I got quickly tired of rebuying troops ad naseam as they got constantly wiped in barrages.. Way way way too much artillery and nukes flying about in that game for me. Otherwise the consept is sheer brilliance... Online ww2 persistant front with Combat Mission unit system anyone... Janster
  4. Hm I remember this too..I had a hill with 2x SU 122 and 2x SU 152... Upon seeing a column of PZIV, they retreated...down the hill towards the enemy ...got shot and ended up burning against some houses... It was very funny. Also, the words that include 'thanks' are to be used after we see 1.03 imho. Janster
  5. Wow, Elmfudd. I think he proved a point, and that you just basically got your ass handed to you. Haha talk about bitter child. Janster
  6. Very poor review, even in a review technical sense.. don't like it. Janster
  7. Sadly NO here. I have yet to be able to play a single battle as its way to choppy despite being played on a beffy machine. But I Guess its because I refuse to rollback drivers as I don't have time for that really. I will wait ever so impatiently. Janster
  8. Focus on direct download sales...being present on major gaming sites(wargaming in this case) Know that most pirates who download your game would never pay for it in the first case.. And you can rest assured that the game will sell as much as it would sell without piracy. Then its all up to the quality of your game imho. Janster
  9. well... I still can't play the game, its on my relativly good pc completly unplayable..not to mention the sacrifice of QB points buying in favour of a totally screwed up TOE system which is just as unrealistic (4 squads 14 cars ????) I paid good money for this game, and not happy..is that ok with you? Janster
  10. Not convinced no... That the map looks deserty, doesn't mean you got Sahara under there.. The countryside might still be very much green. Janster
  11. Well, honestly I still have the feeling the devs actually haven't looked at real pics of the place. It just doesn't look right. While I don't think the country is all lush as above pic, its NOT all sand desert at all. Considering this is actually in places considered VERY fertile soil aswell. Janster
  12. Yeah, now I just wish the makers of this game saw these pictures before they envisioned the desert that they think Syria is. I've been to Lebanon ,and it was not even remotly deserty... Our vaunted game however is mostly desert ...desert..and desert.. BOOORING.. Janster
  13. Bah, I bought the game, and after a few days of trying to play it, I gave up and shelved it. I feel that when a game makes that impression, it needs HELP. I'm a fan of these types of games, but not even I can see the fun factor here sorry. I will try it once with every new patch, but its most likly gonna die a slow shelfdeath It's a shame they didn't stick to what they were good at . Janster
  14. When a game is 'this' broken....a few months is not the wait time.. It's more like a year or so... Bought space empire V a good while ago, its up to patch 30 or so, and STILL not playable by far Janster
  15. Tried worldinconflict. I found it seriously lacking, its a simple rts with nice explosions.. And since everyone got nukes/heavy arty you basically do nothing else than request new troops.. Gfx are good though, and map runs completly smoothly and looks way better on my machine though. Janster
  16. Well, I had more than enough troops.. Altough at -40 force I was stuck with 12 vehicles and 1 platoon (1 flag + 3 squads which I think is a platoon) Again, enemy showed with 2 jeeps and probably 1 platoon, I didn't find them all methinks... I think force composition is not putting in troops correctly. Janster
  17. Been trying to get a QB going so that I can whack some syrians. I choose Republican Guard, I choose mix of inf and stuff.. I choose Tiny map. Here is the result for +150 force. WIN ! 130 men left 0 lost enemy 13 men dead 7 wounded. Ehem...thats all he had.. I had tons of troops and tons of vehicles.. Janster
  18. We used to be 4 people playing, and each one controlled a set of units for a certain amount of points. Then we duked it out for a weekend over a campaign map we made. It was truly glorious, and probably some of the most fun I've had behind this screen. I don't mind RTS, but I just had a test of World In Conflit, and it was really disturbing to play. (ie get inf to target then find you've been carpedbombed/nuked/heavy arty to death in seconds, buy new doods repeat ad nauseam) As for my harsh tone, some ouf us took a buttload of flak from people with arguments that made no sense for me, and I guess I fell down to their level fast, and I apologize for that. However the great moments that was CM was something I Hoped to continue here, but RTS is a whole diffrent ballgame, and obviously if the scale is going down from brigade battles to downright Company of Heroes scale, its clear this version of Combat Mission appeals to a whole new range of people I guess. So for the ones left behind, we have to remain with our old CM's and our chesslike behaviour of wanting to be able to use tactics over clickfest strategies. One thing I like though, CO-PLAY sounds really kick ass, and would seriously help this game. In the end, we shall see where this title goes, I have it, but for now it will remain shelfware until a day it's patched to the point where I can play it without too much frustration. 19. Cid250, I'm sure I've seen you on the WW2 online forums Remember we had that discussion about rifle accuracy hehe Glad to see your a CM fan as myself..altough this Shock Force is gonna be shelved for now, and I'll see what patches can do with it. Thanks Janster
  20. sigh. well I guess someone has to like the new system. But honestly, random QB's ..dude its just strange. Complaining about points values, yes its not perfect, but atleast I GET to choose my bloody units in a game. Is that so much to ask for...??? heck skip the points, just let me CHOOOSE!! btw this new interface don't favour RTS at all, it favours nothing I know really...its just clumsy. It just makes me want to force em to play a bit modern RTS so they learn how controls for these games are really made. As for those who wants click fests...whats the point of giving us superrealistic clickfests? And how are we to enjoy detail when we can't because we have to stay zoomed out all the time or we loose the game. Silly people, you have no defense, neither has Battlefield.. What sounded ok in your head has blown up in your face. Reviewers will have a field day soon Janster
  21. Haha, your like averagly clueless I guess. Citing realism to support RTS behaviour is just a gem to treasure. As others said, once you want to control bigger forces, RTS is gonna wear you down...and more so when you have shoddy tools at your disposal. You try THIS interface on a brigade eh.. micromanagement becomes a neccesity when the AI can't or wont do what you want on the battlefield. Basically your asking for a lasso to rope units and just right click on the enemy.. Wow, thats like...very advanced..I suggest YOU go and play football instead..its RTS too. Janster
  22. Tbh I wish they adopted the Operation Flashpoint style. Take random island....Blue ( nato ) Red (Pact) and duke it out. Syrians are unless boosted rather crappy RL style. As is gear availability and general cheesyness of story. It's better then to avoid realistic stories and just let us duke it out with modern military hardware. Steel Panthers III did this atleast Janster
  23. Damn, there is a lot of pissants here. RTS can also stand for REAL TIME SIMULATION. The way you treated OP was really sucky, and several here should take the a word to the post. This is an RTS game now, there is no avoiding that, saying its not , just make you look like an idiot. With that , Battlefront has decided to test their mettle against a whole new slew of games. Thats their choice, but what happened was abysmal at best. PBEM is NOT an option for LAN, and moving files is a BIG step back, its like a tad too old school.. As for now, this game is a clickfest, with a clunky interface to boot. Thank you Janster ps to the poster above. Interresting fact, but you must remember, your asking the player to be 100 + men on the field, and thats just not gonna be easy in a detailed sim. The AI will NEVER replace real men, and it will NEVER do anything but a semi-ok job. Good example is Compoany of Heroes. It has a seriously superior AI, but leave your men to defend unsupervised...they are but that much dead meat. Thus I have to be there micro'ing them every step of the way..and so will I have to do in this game too.... It's asking a lot of people who enjoy strategy and tactics.
  24. Sigh.. For my case, its NOT the AI nor the pathfinding I really worry about. Its the lack of respect for CM1 and the lessons learned there.. AI and pathfinding takes time and effort to make, so I'm very understandable, and anyone complaining about these two, might want to take a step back. But when it comes to UI interface being downright ****ty and no purchaseable units...no drop down menu in combat, and generally ignoring ALL RTS development last 15 years. I get a bit upset...it means the devs are not learning, they are not including other people's work, they just want to reinvent the wheel and be deemed geniouses....and at that they set themselvs up to fail. This is dangerous if they want success and this game to do well tbh. Reviewers will NOT be kind to this game, exept the hardcore wargamers mayhaps. Janster
