    Dave,

I intend to return to the chateau tonight and will remedy the situation as soon as I've wined, dined and chased some young crumpet around the bedroom.

I'm eager to see if I can secure anything better than a tactical (although I doubt it - you've turned things around nicely in the last couple of minutes).

I did wonder if the file was OK - the info panel of PBEM Helper was giving me a very strange read out. I sometimes think all this technology is a Very Bad Thing.

    Chin chin,

Ed is fine, Sergei. And that's a very good point ... my steam-powered personal computer is running Win98SE. I've not actually tried the gamma correction either (I'm more of an alt-G man). I'll reinstall and try again, but maybe I'm just going to have to live with it.

I didn't remember, so I checked CMBB.VBS source code, and yes, F5 works for normal games as well, if you are using numbered file names (with exactly three digits in the end before .txt). It does not close CMBB, because some people want to keep it running, but it sends one mouse click, and then sends the next numbered file name.

Although everything else appears to be fine with PBEM Helper, I can't get this "F5" feature to work with any games - has anyone got any tips? Assume nothing is too obvious.

    Thanks,

    Teddy

Speaking of which, Dave, has turn 60 of our BDLRM contest plopped into your inbox yet? It's now been sent on 26/09, 30/09 and 02/10.

Although all my other games are progressing nicely, I fear it must be something at my end - I seemed to encounter similar problems with Axe as we neared the end of our last encounter.

If there's still no sign of anything, you can join the viagra adverts, willy extensions and free porn subscriptions, and I'll send via my hotmail account.

I've tried, believe me I've tried, but none of these maggots (well, Davey or Mikey) will take the plunge :D

I have the latest version, and even a shortcut residing on my desktop. According to PBEM Helper the status of Teddy_BDLRM is "wait". But now I'm wondering if I entered Dave's email address correctly when I set it up. But I'm also wondering why if I didn't, nothing's bounced back. So this leads me to wonder if ntl might be at fault, because in the last week I've had people complaining mails have been arriving twice. But I wonder if this can really be the root of all my problems, because it is - in effect - the complete opposite of the problem I'm having with Dave, who has not received a jot for many days. But most of all, I'm wondering why life is so damn complicated

Nuts. I thought I was waiting for one from you ... I even resent it a couple of nights ago, just in case. Damn MI6 systems ... I'll try again tonight.

Apologies, Dave. I think Soddball must be on commission and has signed me up for a constant stream of filth ... the dirty little maggot  I don't even understand half of it

BTW Have you taken a little breather from the BDLRM tournament, or are you still waiting for a package of TNT from me?

  9. I'm not sure a CMAK forum is a good idea ... us Cheery Wafflers will have to dilute our hilarious witticisms and pearls of wisdom by spreading them across a couple of dedicated threads.

I fear that doubling the exposure may not result in a two-fold increase in quality and, worst-case scenario, could lead to an erosion of standards that will temper the USP of our special contribution to the world of Combat Mission.

    Yours, slightly concerned,

    Teddy

  10. Not that I trust any of you maggots further than I could throw you, but do any of you use Fuerte's witchcraft to PBEM?

I've only got a few games on the go at the moment and would like to fit in a new one in "Fast and Trust" mode before CMAK arrives, but would prefer someone to hold me hand while I do it.

Anyone up for a quick encounter (small map, 20 turn limit, 1,000pts) to put the technology to the test?

    Teddy

How about one lovely Word document (or something similar) for all your wondrous prose (so I can play at being a hack while honing my cut and paste skills) and jpegs for your wittily annotated piccies? Send to my private address, nothing larger than a MB, and hopefully I'll get it up ASAP - before we all desert the godforsaken Eastern Front and head for warmer climes (kind of like Soddball, but without the pert, bikini-clad slappers)...

Both side threw in the towel just to end the game and is considered a draw? Thoughts?

I reckon it still counts, maggot. We only called it quits to prevent a few more turns of clicking "go" in extra time - the result was never in any doubt. The only time I'm not happy to offer or give a ceasefire is if flags are still in dispute. Congratulations, you hurt me bad and you can join Martina in my sig. Roll on CMAK!   :D

We're nearly through and it has been a TNT-packed encounter. With only a couple of turns left, there are probably still three flags in dispute (one at the factory and the pair at the Axis map edge) so the result is still far from decided. I reckon I should be first past the post, so I don't know if Dave wants to reveal the outcome to give you other maggots something to shoot for?

In other news, I actually received a turn from MG last night. Wonders will never cease, but he is, or course, still a maggot.

No problems, Axe. To be honest I'm finding my role as an international man of mystery rather taxing at the moment too, which is leaving me rather less time than I like for the more trivial (yet more entertaining) things in life.

It'll be done when it's ready, etc, etc.

    Cheers,
