  1. Months after we embarked on MG's Black Forest madness, my encounter with Soddball has finally limped to a conclusion. Our men battled bravely and flung what little TNT they could find, while my opponent was both worthy and noble ... I just hope he's got room for another line in his sig. Teddy
  2. ... was giving me the eye, so I made an exception. I went to the bar, bought a couple of carrot juice and vodkas, sidled up to the sultry beast and delivered my best line:
  3. Of course not ... they're complete tossers. Thanks awfully for the tip-off, Teddy
  4. Shot in the dark ... it will be about the same as our American cousins' - 10MBish. Even allowing for the fact that CDV are the sperm of the devil, since 1.01 brought the game up to a uniform standard (ignoring Swastika/SS shenanigans) I don't see how they can possibly justify anything much larger. Unless, of course, making a multi-lingual version of the patch requires an extra 50MB or so... Teddy
  5. Gen. Longstreet, As I'm in a posting frenzy, I'll kick things off by suggesting DD's terrain mods. Teddy
  6. With all those muddy and whitewashed mods just waiting to be downloaded, you won't regret it. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I know what you mean - it drove me mad too. I found this site very useful for tracking down the missing pieces of the puzzle. Teddy
  7. markl, The "packs" you're referring to make a great basis for further additions and are simple to use (they even come on a second disc with the CDV version of the game). They look good and the winter camo fired my enthusiasm for tracking down more mods. However, if you have the time and the technology, CMMOS has superceded them and is the way to go. If you decide to travel this route, I think the results are comparable to CMBB (which will also benefit hugely from the same treatment). Teddy
  8. That doesn't sound good, Mike. In situations like those I normally pour myself a single malt, light up a Cuban cigar, book a couple of ladyboys, dig out Pretzel Logic and chill for a while. I'm sure those mods will look equally fantastic and be just as appreciated next week ... or even next month. To coin a phrase that's popular around these parts: "They'll be done when they're done." Teddy
  9. If you really don't want to go the CMMOS route (which I think is worth the "pain" in the long run, especially if you've got CMBB as well), then this is a good starting point: http://www.combatmission.com/mods/MMG.asp and this is pretty handy too: http://www.combatmission.com/mods/winteralliedpacks.asp and don't forget there are winter textures here: http://www.combatmission.com/mods/alliedtanks.asp It's not exactly a quick fix, but after a few downloads you will have taken a stride in the right direction. Toodle pip, Teddy Edited as I've still not recovered from lunch... [ February 07, 2003, 12:13 PM: Message edited by: Edward Windsor ]
  10. Just as well I'm feeling so relaxed after my usual Friday liquid lunch, or I'd have taken this as my cue to start whining. Love and kisses, Mellow Teddy
  11. Very interesting post, X. Cheers, Teddy [ February 07, 2003, 07:58 AM: Message edited by: Edward Windsor ]
  12. Partly ... I was also wondering if it has any bearing on ricochets. I suppose the best way to find out is wait until the patch is released Cheers, Teddy
  13. As I'm too stupid to understand, can anyone explain what effect, if any, changing the lower front hull slope on the T34 will have? Good read, by the way, well worth checking out. Teddy
  14. They're so much more aesthetically pleasing when the turret is hanging off and smoke is pouring out...
  15. I don't know enough about these things to have an opinion either way, but I'm curious to see if the T34 gets a slight reworking... Teddy
  16. Listen up chaps, I saw this advertised in today's Daily Mirror and for some reason thought of you. Corgi is releasing its El Alamein set in an "attractive themed presentation box". Only £19.99 plus £1.95 P&P. Throw in a few quid for beer, matches and a sandpit and you could recreate Monty's great victory in the comfort of your own home. Can you think of a better way to spend Friday night?
  17. Mike, Fantastic. I've probably missed the post, but just out of interest where will these mods be available from? Combat Mission HQ, CMMODS, or have you got a cunning plan? Teddy Edit: Doh! Just seen the link in your sig. Now I'm guessing Wargamer.com. [ February 04, 2003, 04:19 AM: Message edited by: Edward Windsor ]
  18. Hello Volker, As I understand it not all the mods can be "imported" in this way - only the more recent ones. The simple way around this is to extract the files you're having problems with and drop them into your bmps folder. This should then activate the CMMOS tab so you can select them in the game. Teddy
  19. I thought you said "gay means happy"? Teddy (relaxing in his silk kimono, drinking his pina colada and painting his toe nails)
  20. Hello Johnny, Unfortunately I can't claim to be an expert, but you might get a few pointers from far better players than me if you check out some of the Jaegermeister threads in the scenario talk forum. Toodle pip, Teddy
