  1. Everytime I enter and start to read the thread my eyes will cross and there's ringing in my ears but it's a pleasant sound and leaving you wanting more. That's why I'm convinced these are aliens who've created these threads to scurry us along a certain path that is already planned for us by a higher form!
  2. The original BFC bmp is already available to you in the CMMOS folder and it defaults back to the original bmp in MCMMM as well because it backs up the original when you overwrite, but at least for me I would make sure to take the time to make sure which mod I have installed whether it was CMMOS or MCMMM before I overwrote a mod that was not an original bmp.You can easily look in MCMMM to see which mod is installed and compare what's installed to what you are attempting to install and you can look in CMMOS under configure and click on any mod and it will show you a picture of what it looks like in there,so you'd have to be careful to make sure what mod was installed albeit MCMMM or CMMOS.It's really not a problem for me but I understand what your saying and maybe these guys can answer it in a more technical way but I use both and haven't had this type of problem,I'm careful with what I install and from which it is installed from.Anyone got a better answer?
  3. Your right GaJ MCMMM and CMMOS work fine together,it's amazing how much these two improve an already great game into so much more.I'll try the Pacific mod as soon as I get some time to d/load everything, looks like it would be fun to try.
  4. Mike, Just want to thank you for sending me the files for CMMOS V4.05.I followed your instructions and it works perfect,I now have 4.05.Don't really know why I couldn't get it to install but this way was pretty simple too!CMMOS is a great tool along with MCMMM and I can now get to d/loading all these great mods again. As a more silent member that reads more of the threads than posts, I again want to thank you for all the time and effort put into this for us all to enjoy.Keep up the great job,it really is appreciated!
  5. Mike, I e-mailed you my address if you can send me the CMMOS file I'll install it that way.I've tried to d/load this zip again and it locked at 14 sec and then it ended but the file was not complete.I'm runnig windows XP by the way and we have quite a bit of anti-virus protection running, maybe that's it I don't know. Thanks for your help.
  6. It just does not override version 4.03.I've redownloaded the file and unzipped it and it will install fine but it does not overwrite version 4 .03.Has anyone been able to get it to do that? I have Gordon's v4.03 and it works fine and all the upgrades he did worked over the older versions he had, but this one doesn't work at least for me.I didn't hit any cancel buttons by mistake or anything like that,if someone has d/loaded this and had version 4.03 installed already and it worked by overwriting version 4.03 post what you did since I feel like an idiot cause it isn't working for me.Sorry Mike,I think there's a problem here. The first time I d/l the file it would unpack the files and then it would lock up in my install wizard and I'd have to ctrl/alt/delete to get out, then last night I re d/lded the file and it seemed to install just fine but I still had version 4.03 with no CMAK file just CMBO/CMBB so after numerous times I quit. Then I saw someone else post about this and I did as well, tonight I re d/lded the file again and it will lock in my install wizard again right after it unpacks and it just isn't working.Anyone? or should we move this to Tech?
  7. I'm having the same problem,it doesn't seem to overwrite version 4.03 (unless I'm doing something wrong).I've opened the file and it seems to install but my CMMOS is still version 4.03.What's up?
  8. CMMOS and MCMMM are both very good tools for applying mods, and since most of the mods lately are not CMMOS compatible,MCMMM gives you the ability to d/l any mods and try them, compare them, and uninstall back to default bmps if you choose.I'd recommend both if you have time since pretty much all of the CMMOS compatible mods are great and really give you some neat options that you apply as you go.Get those programs first and take the time to add as many mods as time permits, once you got the program and the mods (though time consuming it is)your game will be so much better.
  9. Oh.... and they also stated that a Tiger once took over 200 hits in a battle as well. The show stated that the T-34 was one of the main reasons the Germans developed the Tiger, also some nice King Tiger footage as well. Thanks for the heads-up I enjoyed both programs.
  10. What I thought was interesting was the amount of deception that was actually successful for the Brits.I mean blinding the bombers with those rotating lights all along the Suez, and the lighting in the water away from the harbor so the German bombers thought they were bombing the port at night, but instead dropping their payload into the water, was as amazing as the actual idea to try something like that. What it showed me is that without these masterful tricks it may have been a differant outcome in Africa. The other program about the Tiger was pretty good as well, hell, I get scared seeing 'um in a scenario, just think what the real soldier felt like when they came rumbling towards them! What I did notice was that air attacks were pretty successful at times against these big cats at least on the Western front, and that the Tiger was better served on the Eastern front in long range tactics. They did mention the Viller's Bocage battle and Wittman's heroic and (IMO) fanatic roll through that town with some great footage of the devastation that took place.I believe they said only 1300 Tigers were built? Thank God for that!
  11. I've also noticed that the AI doesn't place fortifications like mines, roadblocks, and barbed wire very well either.I've had instances where a roadblock was in a ditch and barbed wire in the woods.I will usually "lock" these in place but then I know where they're at,any way to resolve this?
  12. Try Der Kessel's Hastings Howards with the terrain mod applied,it's one of my favorites and use Magua's Normandy terrain set as well.
  13. My problem was that after I purchased some units I didn't know you had to go back in the map preview and set the units there, thanks for the help. One other question,I've set up my predetermined set up zones but if I take a VL flag say in a town that was previously in the Axis set up zone, will that Axis set up zone move back in relation to the amount of territory I take when the 2nd battle takes place?
  14. I've created a fictional map that I'm testing out a scenario on but I'm wondering how or even if you can place the defensive positions on the map. This would be a typical Allied assault on a heavily defended position.I've done my set up zones and I was testing how the AI does on setting pillboxes in key areas and I'm not getting the results I'd like,it's putting them in very odd areas.I have some VL on the map and it will deploy troops and some armor decently enough but can I somehow place the defenses myself? I can't find anything in the manual. This is for CMAK but I'm reading the CMBB manual, should be the same. Thanks
  15. My Father was in Co B,8th Armored Inf. Battalion,20th Arm. Div.and although he would talk rarely of the war to me,(he will be 81 yrs. old on Jan 14th) lately he has given me all sorts of war related articles and items that he had.I do know that they liberated Dachau concentration camp and that he was in Hitler's eagles nest at one time.He gave me a German dagger that he thought to be SS that he picked up in France somewhere(he had the full uniform that was left behind by retreating soldiers but left it in France) but I've found out that it is a Luftwaffe dress dagger and I've displayed it at our history center from time to time but I don't know the whole story behind it.The one ironic thing was that my father got a phone call back a few years ago by a man named Charles Schultz,(Charlie Brown creator, they called him Sparky during the war)and he told my father that he was in France recently and was filming some kind of documentary about his war years and came upon my fathers name scratched into an archway at an entrance to some estate that they holed up in at one time and he tracked my father down and called him to let him know it was still there. He sent pictures of the place with him standing, pointing to my dad's name, and also invited my mother and him to California to visit his studio and such,we were shocked to say the least! My dad told me he remembered Sparky drawing all the time but really didn't realize that that was the same Charlie Schultz he knew back in the war,it's a great story but I won't drag this on.My dad's brothers served as well, one in Artillary somewhere and the other in the infantry, and he was wounded in Germany and I got to see his Purple Heart and news article about it once when my Grandparents where still alive(my Grandmother had it).I was going through my fathers articles awhile back and found that had the Pacific war dragged on, Operation "Downfall" was planned and the 20th Armored would've taken part in Operation "Coronet", which was the invasion near Tokyo and the most heavily defended area and expected losses/wounded of American lives in the invasion to be in excess of 250,000 just in the first phase alone.I'm thankful the war ended when it, did since myself and probably others on this forum wouldn't be here right now.My father told me he believed he would've been killed had the war gone on.Today my one uncle is 83 yrs. old,my other uncle is 80 yrs. old and my father soon to be 81,and all in very good health and mind.I hold the utmost respect for what these "kids" went through and I truly believe what Tom Brokaw said when he called them the "greatest" generation.I owe them and I'll never forget as will my children never forget.

  18. Do your existing mortar and artillary teams get resupplied when you do this? I d/loaded a map that I'm going to try this out on and so far by testing some parts of this it works pretty good.I especially like the idea of moving the dates ahead right up to May of 45.
  19. Gordon, you are the master of the masters, when will that be available?
  20. When you have a HQ having a LOS to a target and your mortar team is in command range but out of LOS to the same target,do you issue the target order to your HQ and then will your motar team fire or do you issue the order to your mortar team directly? Kinda confused on this.Does the HQ order the mortar team to fire when you use the HQ to target?
  21. Your confusing me Mike.I have 4.03 and am able to use CMBO with all the CMBO CMMOS mods without a problem.I don't have any U.S uni mods mainly because I don't see any that are CMMOS compliant.I have a ton of CMBO mods as far as terrain, vehicles,German unis, etc that work very well.I have used CMMOS since it first came out and have upgraded each and every time without a problem.I know that 4.03 keeps CMBB files in zip form to save space but I believe it still works for the old CMBO CMMOC compliant mods as well.I think Gordon cleared that up for me way back when..........
  22. Everybody had a pony, my sister had pony,my brother had pony, even neighbor had pony, you don't like pony?
  23. I have to agree with Astrocat on that one Gordon.CMMOS is still my choice because of just what you posted. It takes away from me having to go through every single vehicle just to say, get the right comp/division markings on them.My point was that I hadn't seen any major updates on CMMOS lately and I haven't been floating around here for some time and it looked as if it was being replaced.Matt stated earlier that he was working on some things and hopefully it will be updated with CMAK mods that will surely be coming up.You helped me back when I first installed cmmos and it's been absolutely perfect for me.My point was if I can have both, then it will help me using a non-compliant mod that I may like that isn't available in CMMOS.I, like many , would truly appreciate CMAK mods and rulesets for CMMOS,but I know it's allot of time and work and I'd hate to beg you out of "retirement".
  24. Since I already have every CMMOS mod for both CMBO/CMBB I'll d/l MCMMM and use that for CMAK and then eventually d/l some non-compliant CMMOS mods for CMBO/CMBB.After awhile I may just use one but as long as I can have both and I've got allot of time into CMMOS I'll use both. Thanks
