@Hapless makes excellent videos.  This one is another great example of a well done CM video.

I think for that exact reason they'd be included as part of other modules, similar to how additional Syrian formations were included in the various CMSF modules.

@Double Deuce, ah okay. Understand that now. So the player would still play that other assets issued by the battalion, but it is only added to the core force to keep track of the losses.

About the thread: is it possible to get a AT-4B Spigot Team as a single unit in the "specialist teams" category? For now only the AT-7 Saxorn is available there, while AT-4B Spigot is only available as a Battalion asset in some formations.

I'm thinking about designing a campaign that sort of uses a US Battalion Task Force as the core unit BUT, the player will only command a single company/team during a mission. The rest of the Task Force (portions of it depending on the storyline) will provide the supporting assets for that company/team in their mission.
Another option would be, the same core task force concept but, the player takes command of different parts of that task force at different times during the campaign. There would be decision points where you would select your force for a mission from one of the tank heavy or mech heavy company/teams.
There are other options/configurations I'm considering but the player's active force would be  be basically kept to a company/team size.

So, because this was becoming a rather vocal issue, and I began to doubt us for a second, I exported 19 of the standalone scenario briefings (both Blue and Red) out of the commercial scenarios and cut and pasted them into Word.  That came to 20727 words in total.  Scrubbing through them all and using the Word spelling checker, we come to a grand total of 15 real spelling mistakes (not military slang or funny abbreviations) out of the sample.  This yields an error rate of about .07%, which in just about any industry standard is well below the accepted manufacturing rate errors (outside of the nuclear and space industry).  It is even lower than accepted experimental error in engineering. (https://courses.cit.cornell.edu/virtual_lab/LabZero/Experimental_Error.shtml#:~:text=Engineers also need to be,analysis techniques to get any).
The worst offending scenario had 5 spelling errors and the writer is not a native English speaker, but we can make sure we get help with that.  So now I am going to do a grammar and punctuation check but from that I can see so far (again thank you MS Word) we are doing better than a lot of adult students I know.
Now we will continue to try and get better in all things in order to continue a solid wargame to you all...thank you for your patience. [Note, I am sorry but I cannot share the Word Doc here as it is company IP etc.]  Oh and as an aside, I hold a Master's degree and still managed to spell "Frankfurt" wrong in Valley of Ashes, so human error happens.

I just pulled out a Tactical Victory as the Americans in the Mitteachsenbach scenario by the skin of my teeth.
This was one of those games that keeps me coming back to Combat Mission. At first it seemed hopeless. Then reinforcements started tricking in. You threw them in to the line hoping they'd hold. Some did, some didn't. The battle was in doubt right up the the very end.
There was one M60 that found a keyhole position in a village the Soviets bypassed and managed to take out 7 T-80s in the flank as they rolled past before getting knocked out!
The biggest threat to the Americans early in this battle is despair as the sheer size of the Soviet assault becomes apparent. I really didn't think I had a chance until about the 50 minute mark.

Logic would say you're never going to see Swedes or Koreans in this game. I'm not even sure they could fit US Marines into the title, though BFC loves their Marines. I suspect any Arab-Israeli battles are going to have to be cobbled together via the NTC region setting. I don't think Steve is particularly keen to invade Lebanon in 1982

I become concerned whenever I seen an over-enthused newbie announce their first scenario is going to be a historically accurate downtown Antwerp map, or something similar. Because I know they're going to burn out and never build another scenario. When starting out making scenarios start out small and simple and just for fun. Don't start out ambitious. Build yourself a couple playtime mini scenarios just to see the AI move the troops around the map, then work up from there. I'm especially concerned about Cold War. Green players will be attempting 3x5km maps first thing and its not gonna be pretty.

I got to West Germany in May 83 so this game is slightly before that time frame however, my battalion was one of the last to get the M1s. When I left in 87 they still had the M60A3s and M113s (no units in our brigade had been upgraded). With what's available in this module, I can easily make 83-87 scenarios and a campaign. Time to dig out my old Steel Panthers stuff and get cracking on a conversion. 😁

I just now read that by our timeframe the US has converted TWO THOUSAND M48A3 tanks to 105mm gun M48A5. That's a lot of tanks! Far more than I had imagined.

I first saw "Connie" in the late 70's or early 80's in Blackhawk, Huey, and Armor PM series on turbine engine maintenance when I wrote engine maintenance manuals for GE Aircraft Engines. I have to say, the clothing changed greatly. In the ones I saw, "Connie" was dressed in "Daisy Duke" shorts and a halter top.

Some people consider TTRPGs a variant of the wargame and I guess that's true depending on the game/genre. Having said that I run a weekly D&D game online and have for years.
