  1. kenfedoroff (Axis) lost to SandCastle (Allies) with a 150 point handicap. Congrats to SandCastle Ken
  2. It may work against a brain dead Newbie, but don't try it against the Big Boys. They will eat you alive. Sincerely, Captain Unconscious
  3. SandCastle in Pennsylvania has Comcast and he can host. I have to look into this. I don't understand why Comcast, metro Detroit can't host. Sincerely, Ken
  4. Player kenfedoroff signs up for SC Ladder. (even though he can't host) Sincerely, Ken
  5. Z-Swede I forgot to mention I am Newbie and would not clutter up upper reaches of SC Ladder. Ken
  6. I finally called my internet service provider (Comcast) about my trouble with hosting games. They said: I can't host games. Period. End of story. My Question is this: Can I join SC Ladder if I can't host? I know this would be an inconvenience for all my opponents, (they would always have to edit game for bid). But it would not be a serious problem unless I had to play someone else who could not host. As many strong SC on-line players move to the Ladder, I would miss out on getting pulverised by these people. I might even last a few turns longer if I was spotted some points as Allies. Sincerely, Ken
  7. I don't see SC located here even before I use uninstall from programs. Maybe it's another Windows ME thing. No matter, as long as the other way works. Sincerely, Ken
  8. When I right-clicked on ISP icon it said: "properties not available". I called the cable company (Comcast, metro Detroit area) and was told I could not host games. Period. End of story. For the purpose of security, this is not allowed. It had nothing to do with any firewall I might have. I thought this was strange because I thought I played against a comcast member in another state, who was kind enough to host. Sincerely, Ken
  9. What do you mean every 3-4 months? More like every single turn. C'mon Man, lets crush these Nazi's. Sincerely, "Pulverised by Panzers"
  10. Thanks for sharing, what is for me, "new" information. I have been too busy playing computer games and making smart remarks in the Forum to be bothered with the research of the "Why" and "Wherefore" of SC. Sincerely, everyone's knowledge and research is appreciated. Sincerely, speaking for myself, I appreciate it when someone shares new material that might be of interest to me. This and the movement of machine tools from threatened areas could be factored into SC. As a side note: I recall the stories the skilled tradesmen from our company told about installing an assembly line in the Soviet Union in 1975. They said it was like going back in time to the year 1919. OK, I have scribbled enough now, Ken
  11. I wonder if carriers will take less damage on the attack (as long as they are not adjacent to defender) in SC2 in this case. Or perhaps inflict more damage because the target is sitting still? Ken
  12. Another stupid question: How do I know if I have a firewall? It's possible my internet service provider has this on my machine, but how would I know? There must be a way of finding this out. Ken
  13. Sorry for the stupid questions, but I don't know much about computers and software. I select programs, strategic command, uninstall SC, (and then it goes through the motions of uninstall). But when I look in "program files", there is the SC folder with what appears to be all the goodies still in the folder. When I try: settings, install/delete software, SC is not one of the defaults for windows to uninstall. I have Windows ME for what it's worth. I like to uninstall/install game/patch(v1.06) when I have a rash of lock-ups and/or connection problems. Now I am wondering if I am doing a proper uninstall. Any ideas besides "Get a job and quit playing SC all damn day"? Sincerely, Ken
  14. I have had trouble hosting SC on my computer. Is it OK to join the SC Ladder if I can't host? I am not a computer/software expert. I am at a loss as to what to do about hosting problem. Heck, I am still having lock-ups when I hit "quit" button. Sincerely, Ken
  15. Sounds good to me. I could buy more corps to throw underneath the tracks of the Panzers. Sincerely, Corporal Cannon Fodder
  16. Arch, BtW, Rambo Many thanks for sharing strategy/tips. Sincerely, Corporal Cannon Fodder
  17. Good question.. Are they trying to clear out the Baltic so the Soviets can send help to England in its darkest hour, if the Axis try Sea-Lion? Ken
  18. Are Newbie's allowed? I have been pulverised by just about everybody but this looks interesting and fun. Or is there a separate division for cannon fodder? Sincerely, Ken
  19. I was curious why you left the French out of the bid? Is it because 130 MPP's for France as well as the other Major Powers was just too much of a handicap? If I had my choice, (in taking the Allied bid) I would dump Russia from the bid in exchange for France, simply because 130 MPP's are HUGE in Sept. 1939 compared to June 1941. I think Rambo's idea for bid/play balance is a good idea and I am just curious how it is being implemented. Thanks to everybody for helping make SC even more fun. Sincerely, Ken
  20. There was a bright flash of light, followed by a humming sound....A small, saucer shaped craft had materialized in my yard. A humanoid emerged from within, approached me and said, "I am from the planet Toronto." "On our planet, we aggavate ourselves by connecting with the contents of this disc". With that, he handed to me the disc of SC and said "Try this,.. kid". The rest, as they say, is history. Sincerely, Captain Unconscious
  21. I am still having random lock-ups, for what it's worth. Ken
  22. Will this tournament include Rambo's idea of "bidding" for what side you will play? I like this idea for play-balance and I was curious if this will be incorporated. Sincerely, Ken
  23. And another thing. Fix the Suez Canal so transports and warships can travel in either direction. This will teach you to let me scribble in your forum, ha! Sincerely, Ken
  24. I couldn't believe it when I read that Rambo took back Canada and did not get a "capture bonus", (plunder) as well as the MPP's for owning the cities. Is this for real? If this is true, then "Lame-O" Award for Hubert. Sincerely, Ken
