  1. Rune Thanks for your e-mail. Sorry to hear about your fingers, (I guess that's two less you could stick up my nose). It's easy for "Spec" Taters, "Comment" Taters and "Dick" Taters like myself, (who aren't even smart enough to figure out how to get a briefing into a scenario), to sit back and make smart remarks without ever contributing anything to the community, and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will be more than happy to play-test or provide feed-back/constructive criticism on any scenario's you have in mind. Best Regards, (King of the "Tater" People) Ken
  2. Rune Obviously I'm too busy making smart remarks in the Forum to have time to make my own scenario's. My apologies for suggesting my pet peeve/opinion is somehow a "flaw". I was way out of line. Please encourage the young man to keep at it, as I think Approach to S.. is one of the better scen's on the disc. Hope you got my e-mail. Did you guess which Tater Person I am? Best Regards, Ken
  3. AMEN! Brother. CMBB walks the fine line between "fun" and "realism" like no other game. (And at a reasonable price too).
  4. Approach to Sevastopol is a fun scenario but has a common flaw found in too many scenario's. That is: Reinforcements spawning in plain sight on predictable turns. Which also leads to.... Opposing forces forced to set-up in enemy line of sight. While it may be historical, it's not much fun to start taking damage right from the start because your unit couldn't start out in cover or dead ground. All the designer needs to do is provide a slight drop in elevation on the edges of the map where units set-up or spawn. Also, making reinforcements random allows some replay variation. Sincerely, Ken
  5. Unfortunately, what Liam reports is a common occurence, but only among a few bad apples. My advice: Save all your unfinished games. If these people ever come back for a game, just smile and tell them you don't care to start a new one since they appear unable to finish the old one. If they persist, spring the unfinished game on them. Sincerely, Ken
  6. alexey I forgot to mention: I checked your player profile and noticed you're from NZ. If you log-on to the Opponent Finder Forum and check for who has sought a CMBB player in the last few weeks (a bit tedious, I know), you can check their player profile to see if they list their home country. You will soon find several CMBB gamers from NZ. Send them a friendly e-mail (with times you are available to play). Even with the time difference with the USA, you will still find opponents for either tcp/ip or pbem on the opponent finder forum if you are patient. Warning Besides the time difference between NZ and the States there is also the seasonal difference. Many of us in the northern USA who don't participate in outdoor winter sports will soon be turning off their computers and getting their golf clubs and fishing tackle ready for action. But the weather/job/wife does not always cooperate and we come back to CMBB for a quick fix. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Ken
  7. alexey Don't forget to update your game with the latest patch. Sincerely, Ken
  8. Remember Comrades, "Adversity is the Foundation of Victory" Let us pull ourselves together and show the world what real men are made of. Take my own example: Laid-off since last June and unemployment funds have been exhausted. Do I shirk my duties?..NO! (Waves goodbye to wife as she leaves for work, puts on pot of coffee, signs up for Combat Mission Meta-Campaign, logs on to opponent finder forum). All for Victory! Sincerely, Konstantin Jarehyevich Fedorov
  9. Now let's all chant the mantra that Shaka was kind enough to share with us..... "It's a game, not a simulation....It's a game, not a......(and continue 'till the mind, body and spirit are one). Sincerely, Captain Unconscious
  10. I thought this was fixed with the new patch. Now I will have to check. Thanks for the heads up. Ken
  11. Don't bitch at the scenario designer. As long as the game is not "tournament saved" you can open it up in the scenario editor. Then you can alter the scenario anyway you want. I alter scenario's all the time. Not only does it help give me ideas for my own, but it's faster to alter one with a few minor flaws (or even major ones) than it is to build one from scratch. Common Reasons for Altering Scenario's 1. Units locked in place. 2. Reinforcements "beam down" (Star Trek style) onto the battlefield in full view of the enemy on a predictable turn.(no random entry out of view). 3. Force mix not to my liking. 4. Terrain elements need tweaking. (hedges, bocage cross roads, Water at high elevations instead of down low, Railroad crossings, Houses in road, etc.) I appreciate all the scenario makers sharing their work because I can learn from any of them. Sincerely, Ken
  12. I have been able to get firing slit penetrations with ATR's against wooden MG bunkers, but did not finish the QB to see if I could finish off the pillbox. ATR accuracy seems to increase markedly at less than 250 yds, but it's very tedious to sneak one into a covered firing position to do this. ATR's also seemed to perform better when under control of a leader with morale and fighting bonus. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Ken
  13. SC stands for the game Strategic Command which has it's own forum. You can sign up in the competition thread there.
  14. Hubert created the monster.... Now he must continue to feed it....hee, hee. Sincerely, Ken
  15. There are a certain number of scenario's on the CMBB disc that can be quite frustrating. If you go back through the Forum you will find many threads on these demonic brain cramps. My Advice: Have fun with it (Assualt on Moon) and move on. There are many scenario's out there. Don't let one turn you off on the game. Sincerely, Ken
  16. For what it's worth, I have also had some incredibly bad Tech. luck, (mostly against the AI), but against humans as well. I see I'm not the only one. On the other hand, I didn't complain when I got to L-4 jets with one chit against Shaka! Sincerely, Ken
  17. It means: Super charge the flag! he, he. Ken
  18. When your ground unit is next to a friendly port, right-click to select transport and move next to shore hex. On next turn, (if shore hex is empty), right-click to select unload. You cannot move/attack into an occupied hex from ship to shore. Hope this helps. Ken
  19. Yes, CMMC2 looks almost overwhelming to me. I am looking forward to a CMBB Team Multi-Player function on a smaller scale. Sincerely, Ken
  20. kenfedoroff(Axis) concedes to Terif(Allies) Bid was 100. Congrats to Terif and thanks for lesson. Sincerely, Ken
  21. Thanks Double Deuce. I found a site (CMMC2) and this is exactly what I'm talking about. Sincerely, Ken
  22. Apologies in advance for this brain storm/fart scribble. I have just started reading "Zhukov's Greatest Defeat", (The Red Army's Epic Disaster in Operation Mars, 1942) by David M. Glantz. Except for the unfortunate "Borg Spotting", it's incredible how realistic CMBB can model this Battle/Operation. All the things we bitch about, such as green/conscript troops, Soviet forced to use pre-planned artillery barrage, attacking in terrain unsuitable for offensive operations, bad weather, etc., etc. are all in this book, and I am only on page 124. Which leads to... CMBB Team Multi-Player in the Future Just imagine when we have the computer power and software to model the huge operational scale of battle described in "Zhukov's Greatest Defeat" in a huge Team Multi-Player game. I envision ("I have a Dream...") the day where an overall front/army commander would delegate his battalion commanders (with support troops) a certain amount of frontage to attack/defend and where each and every battle has an effect on the following battle. The Front/Army/Team commander would have players of various ability and would delegate their mission accordingly. (Put the "Brain Dead Newbie" in the perceived quiet sector and post the "T-N-T chuck'n Grognard at the strategic cross road, etc.) When all battles are finished the results are computed, given to the Team Commander, and he again delegates reserves/reinforcements, ammo, artillery, air support, etc. for the next round. You could even make it so that when an actual battalion commander is killed in the game, an alternate is forced to take his place. Any other ideas besides "shut up and get a life"? Sincerely, Ken
  23. I am in a game right now where my Allied opponent has taken both Ireland and Portugal. (He attacked Ireland on the first or second turn if I remember correctly). It has reduced USA war readiness but the USSR is ready and England is too strong for Sea-Lion. Sincerely, Ken
  24. Shaka LoL, You crack me up. Sincerely, Ken
  25. You might want to include who was Axis/Allies and bid. Sincerely, Ken
