I have a friend (who is a neighbor) that loves wargaming as much as me. For some weird reason, I have never introduced him to CM. A few months ago, he was diagnosed with a medical problem. This has left him at home with a lot of time on his hands do to taking time off of work. I decided that it would be an excellent gift to buy him a copy of CMBO. With all the spare time he has right now, what better way to pass the time than with CM! And his birthday is in March anyway!! Here is my beef. I plan on buying him the gift one way or the other, but I was wondering if you fellows at BTS had any plans of reducing the price on CMBO with CMBB just around the corner. I figured that CMBO would have dropped to a $29.99 price tag by now. Like I said, I'm going to buy it one way or the other, but I cringe slightly at dropping another $50 on CM after I've done it twice already (My daughter destroyed my first copy of CM) So are there any plans to drop the purchase price of CMBO? [ February 28, 2002, 12:20 AM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

No, I've found out that the real life units of World War II often used large, brightly painted bases so as to let their enemy know where all their hidden units were. -

Roads in the Ardennes Mod
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to pritzl's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
TRL, I have to disagree with myself too. My post was a bad combination of fatigue, respect for the modders, talking on the forum when I sould have been in bed, talking out my arse, feeling bad for all the pressure we put on the modders, additional "thanks" to the modders by showing my support of their efforts, and a lack of beer in my system. Your right, some mods can have minor tweaks like you and I both do, but the roads would look funny useing cut and paste. My bad. [ February 26, 2002, 11:13 PM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ] -

Bruno, I didn't realize it, but those are the Wirb/Osts I use. They look pretty decent for low-res'ers, so I left them in. Position them close to pines on a tile that has a lot of see through soil (less snow) and they almost disappear!! Nice camo! Gotta turn on the unit bases so my opponents can't suprise me with'em! -

At least once a day. If I don't have ant PBEMs going, I'll be playtesting or just having fun vs. stomping the AI. -
Roads in the Ardennes Mod
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to pritzl's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Tom has spent probably a lot of his own time developing this mod for us. While the old saying is true: "You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time," he included several options with the mod (including a very cool set of tree bases after the initial post). We put a lot of pressure (no matter how playful it was) on Tom for him to finish and release this mod. As consumers of these mods, we speak from time to time about how we want this or that; and this is fine. Many modders like to hear what the CM community's opinions are. The modders probably understand that we all have personal tastes and wants, but to be honest, it is slightly un-cool for us to requset little extras for ourselves after so much selfless time has been put into these projects. They did the best they could to please as wide an audience as possable. I have found a very minor solution that works for me at least. I have made very minor modifications to some of the mods using Microsoft Paint. As long as you keep the changes to an extreme minimum, it is a great way to customize your own mods. You could use the cut-and-paste option in Paint to "fill" the middle of those roads. Try it. You might find (like me) that you'll be changing lots of small details to several of your mods! Bruno, I didn't even think about de-winterizing the Wirb/Ost! I gotta do that one now. I don't think there are any other winter mods for them asside from the low-rez white zebra pattern. -

the reverse (inside) of the german flak guns? The reason I ask is now that Tom's mod is in my game, I am de-winterizing some of the crappy low-res winter mods I was using. It no longer looks odd to have an AFV in normal colors like it used to with the old Alaskan winters. I de-wintered my flak wagons, but the insides of the quad 20mm and 37mm gun shileds are still white. Anyone know this one?

Dug-in tanks: why are they immobile ?
BeauCoupDinkyDau replied to dima's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
With that being the case (being able to move tanks out from their immoblie dug-in positions), will we still be able to immobilize them in the manner that they are now in CMBO? The reason I ask, is because this will probably be how scenario designers will simulate the German late war immobile tank turrets that were set up as AT guns in the last weeks of the war. -
