  1. David--thanks for the new mods. I thought that you might want to know that you you double posted the PAK 38. I think you need to correct the PAK 43 download.
  2. GJK--as a CMBO, CMBB, CMAK pack rat, I have a large collection of battles and ops for all three games. If you find that you are missing any specific battle and op, send me a list of what you need. I can get on it in about a week, when I return to the land of Antone's, Chuys and the Horns.

  5. As I recall, they planned to call it quits last year, but the site was automatically renewed. This year they must have given notice. In any case they will be missed.
  6. Only the battles and field orders are newly available today at the time of this posting. But it's a good start!
  7. I don't think so. I would love for a spirited Kursk campaign to end in the form of an operation involving combined arms and lots of tanks; the 1941 campaign to end in an operation to take Moscow; the Berlin campaign to conclude in an operation to take the Fuher Bunker; and so on. If it is possible to include operations, the feature could add great depth to CMC/CMBB. But at this stage we are all operating on limited infomation about CMC. On the other side of the coin, it's also a stage where they may be able to incorporate new ideas or at least leave a space open for them to be added later.
  8. We can play current CMBB battles and ops in multi-player. SEE: http://www.kampfgruppe-cm.com/kgmultiplayerrules.htm Will CMC change the way that CMBB battle files are created, so that the ability to play a battle in MP will no longer be available? If so how will the files be changed?
  9. According to the FAQs the tactical portion of the integrated games will generate CMBB battles to fight. Will it be possible, either upon initial release or later, to produce operations instead of battles?
  10. It's a very odd choice for the first CMx2 game. I'm less than excited, but will keep an open mind and check out the demo.
  11. Gautrek would you mind sharing your BMP bible? Some of the guys at KG are mod makers, but have been frustrated about not knowing the correct BMPs for what they want to mod. While all three games are of interest, CMAK and CMBB are the top priorities. Thanks.

  13. I make annual contributions to the site (and others I use). As I mentioned in the original thread that begat this thread, I much dislike the adds. I keep hard copy binders on the various downloads I make. It is now impossible to get a clean print of the two standard text pages for each mod. Further the ads make the site look very trashy.
  14. What's with the recent addition of "graffiti" that recently appeared on the CMMODS site? It really distracts from a bare bones but clean & great site.
  15. While no poll is perfect, this seems to be a legit attempt to guage the preferences of the CM community. It is hosted and located at a site that is now the premier place to be of all CM scenario designers and those wanting to download those battles and ops. This site will apparently replace the lost and lamented CM Scenario Depot. The battles and ops offered there are not limited by type of play and indeed represent all types of play. Of course those that bought a copy of one of the CM games, played it for a week or two and then put it on a shelf now coverd with dust are unlikely to participate in the poll. In any case its results will be more persuasive and instructive than "we know because we know" opinions that we have heard thus far. As I recall from business school that is how the Edsel was designed. Consumer market surveys were used by Ford shortly thereafter.
  16. Just because Battlefront owns the forum and can do anything it wants, does not mean that their decision is exempt from being wrong headed arrogant and even rude. I recall a similiar "vibe" when some of us provided criticism of the CMBB demo. Palantir's points are all well taken and he is not the only person who holds those same views. He is perhaps the person who has expressed them in a manner far more polite than most others who hold them. Just because Palantir has not graced us with his presence around here, does not mean that he is some CM rube to be dimissed as an uninformed newbie. He is the long time CM forum coordinater at SZO, has designed and run tournament for CMBO, CMBB and CMAK. He is also an accomplished CM scenario designer.
  17. If Battlefront loses the "hardcore" it will lose the "hardcore" of its customer base, as well as its way. This is not a mass market game series. For years it was available in the country of its origin (the largest single market) only by purchase by way of the net. Such games cannot afford to lose their true believers. Most of the true believers play other humans, and do it most frequently by PBEM. The AI is lousy, especially on the offensive. It advances infantry like lines of ants. I hope to be proven wrong, but I can't conceive of the new game engine moving the AI forward enough quantim levels to make it truly competitive in all circumstances against a decent player. The best games are against other humans. The only way that we humans with real lives can play against other humans on a consistant and frequent basis is by PBEM. It is also the only way to play opponents located half way around the world--indeed in all the time zones spanning the USA. [ August 31, 2005, 04:13 PM: Message edited by: KG_Jag ]
  18. Put simply PBEM is a critical feature in accomplishing human vs. human play. I am in the great state of Texas and am playing a fellow in New Zealand and another fellow in the UK. With such great time differences and the demands of real life, we simply would not be able to play one another without PBEM. I would rather lose some additional features over dropping PBEM. At KG we have very large CMBB multiplayer games--both in terms of map size and number of forces. As I recall the files can grow to as large as 3 MB. We have not yet had problems sending them back and forth in an unzipped format. Of course hi-speed internet is a big plus, but is not required to play these large games.
  19. Please add: 1. More choices in types of cover arcs (e.g. all vehicles and all armored vehicles). 2. Multiplayer--it's becoming more well known and popular, and it's great fun.
  20. Thanks UT. However, it appears that the T-37 & 38 non-winter mod that was posted was actually a dup of one of you BT mods.
  21. Yes--it seems to be a perfect fit. I would add that once the final decision has been made, the locaction of the new scenario depot needs to be promoted not only here but also at such places as SZO and Wargamer.
