  1. Congrats to Sgt. Schultz on his promotion, however, I don't believe he will have long to enjoy his additional pay. Cpt. Elvis seems to be deploying his force piecemeal which will not work in his favor and will surely lead to additional casualties and disaster. He does not have the manpower to send his pixeltroopers wandering about willie-nillie. I think that a better strategy may have been to keep his troops situated and dug-in, especially since they have shaky morale and not much firepower. In his favor, he still has armor, and if deployed smartly may halt the Soviet onslaught.
  2. I believe the idea with "Hunting" is that the troops are hunched over, trying to present a minimal target for the enemy, while still moving forward. They are also moving slowly while trying to spot the enemy. Try moving forward in a posture other then normal walking, while carrying a lot of gear over rough terrain, and at the same time being aware that your life may end at any moment and I imagine it would be quite tiring.
  3. Uh oh...Capt. Elvis is sending Sgt. Schultz (this can't bode well) on a sprinting Forward Observer mission to setup some harassing artillery fire. Does not seem like a good idea at all. Wondering why he didn't have an FO hidden in place or in a location with minimal movement to a safe location from which to call in fire. Hitting the Soviets as they crossed open areas would have been a good plan, but I am afraid he has waited to long.
  4. With the amount of work you are describing, I would also be willing to pay full cost for the "new" CMSF even though I own CMSF and all of the modules. Would it be less work to create new scenarios and campaigns rather than trying to make the old ones work with the 3.0 features? I imagine that new scenarios and campaigns that take advantage of all of the new enhancements (AI triggers) to the engine, would be much more fun and challenging to play, then re-playing the original CMSF scenarios. Also, the scenario designers have learned so much and improved their craft since the early days of CMSF. Or rather than keeping the existing scenarios/campaigns, release a Pack with new scenarios/campaigns. Are you expecting a 2014 release? Are there any plans to do the same "port" to CM:Afghanistan?
  5. "...in a cruel twist of fate, MikeyD's 15 minutes of fame were not to be, when British sim rag Rock Paper Shotgun got his name mixed up with British rocker MickeyD Jagger" wa waaaaaa Oh well, it was still a great article!
  6. Here is a link to discussions of actual small unit tactics between Germans and Soviets, relevant to CM scale battles: http://www.allworldwars.com/Small-Unit-Actions-During-German-Campaign-in-Russia.html
  7. Bil, Have you noticed any morale hit to the split squads yet? If so, please let us know.
  8. You dudes are really beating a dead horse here. I am going to notify PETA. It really is sick and unconscionable what humans due to animals during a war (and I include homo sapiens in the term animals).
  9. Airpower!, purchase a Ju-87G to smack Ivan upside the head, and slow his relentless advance. Regarding airpower, has the x-ray vision of pilots been tweaked so that they cannot see into forests and buildings? The sound of a Ju-87G screaming in a dive-bombing run is something to behold, and will send the Ruski's running for their rabbit holes. Hope the sound effects are modeled accurately. Edit: Apparently the "Jericho Trumpet" was removed from the Ju-87's early in the war and was not present on the aircraft during Bagration.
  10. Oh gawd this is going to bring all of the Finns out of the woodwork. I guess that means "Winter War". Ski troops! Sergei must be half-out of his mind on Finlandia and running through the streets of Helsinki nude, yelling at the top of his lungs.
  11. Yeah Emrys, isn't it time for you to crawl back into bed as you yourself previously suggested? I imagine a man your age spends most of his time in the sack anyway. You might as well hibernate since you won't see the sun until April up there in PT.
  12. Thanks for doing the AAR Elvis. I would suggest not using AT guns, as their effectiveness has proven to be less than stellar in previous AAR's and in general. Going with mobile units in this regard may be a better choice.
  13. That is a gorgeous map, nice choice, and thanks to GeorgeMC. Bil, which Soviet units have the capability of calling in artillery support? I saw it mentioned that some Soviet squads have HQ's imbedded in them (can act as HQ's). Will you need to purchase Forward Observer's?
  14. I think you guys are referring to Matchup Rating, Pg. 102 in CMBN Manual: Matchup rating - Depending on how urgently Support is needed, the Matchup rating (see next section “Support Roster”) may be critically important. The Matchup value reflects the difficulty a specific Spotter has in getting in touch with a specific asset and securing permission to use it. A Platoon HQ will have difficulties reaching a Regimental howitzer battery, for example. In fact, in some cases, such requests may be outright denied. If this is the case, then “Denied” is shown in the Support Roster on the affected asset. Matchup - in the upper right hand corner is a symbol representing how well the Spotter and Support Asset are matched for each other. There are five states, color coded as follows: Excellent (green circle) , Good (green triangle) , average (yellow square) , poor (red triangle) , and bad (-) .. The better the match the more efficient and effective the results will be. "The CM Game Engine V2.11 manual also mentions different shapes for the matchups but I presume this idea has been dropped" - Jack Raton I will have to check and see if the game displays different shapes. It may be the mod you are using.
  15. Just want to say that your responsiveness to user requests and continuing effort to improve CMx2 is very much appreciated. So a big thanks to you and the whole team.
  16. In addition to Rank, please add a mouse-over tool tip for Nationality in the UI.
  17. Hmmmm, this was posted in another Thread. Now how would Sgt. Joch a Beta Tester, know about this? I guess he reads a lot.
  18. BlackMoria, I really appreciate the time you took to post your review of my scenarios. It makes it all worth while. Glad you had fun! To Tom: sorry you are having difficulty extracting the scenario files. Please try to use 7-zip which is free 7-Zip download to extract the downloads.
  19. Tom, I have not had any issues. What program are you using to unzip the download? What is the error message you are getting? Download the zip file into your download folder, then try unzipping the download using 7-zip or WinZip in your download folder. Once unzipped you should see the *.btt scenario file. Then move the scenario file into your Battlefront scenario folder.
  20. Not sure exactly what you are referring to, but try this: In Windows File Explorer > View > Group By It may give you the folder organization you are trying to setup.
  21. Mord, Check out this Thread : http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=111903
  22. Emrys, now is it really unreasonable for our good friend Mr. Togi to be highly cheesed off, grumpy and have a major beef with the fact that the last RAT was posted some 16 months ago?
  23. Hey, throwin' bones, is better than throwin' stones Togi. Nice job. I imagine Moon will be along shortly to present an updated Road Ahead Thread (RAT).
  24. Two more Scenario's have been uploaded. CMSF base game, U.S. Army - Recon by Fire Lyin' for War Here is the companion video for Lyin' for War:
  25. I would say that it is time for Phil to have his Brain-Jar placed on pedestal. at least in close proximity to Charles'.
