  1. Hello fellow ROW'ers! It's been a while since I played this marvellous game and tell you the truth, haven't yet played a single game of CMBB (have bought it though). I also owe Holien a rematch and as soon as I find time I will contact you and you can try to revenge that dreadful night fight. Still afraid of the dark? KR, I also received my Wines and they costed me about 3$ a bottle. It seems our Finnish Customs is a bit more merciful than yours in Australia. I said to Customs that it was a gift, so I only had to pay the Finnish Alcohol Taxes (or something like that). KR don't worry. Not the prices, but the FAME and the CHICKS that follow after the ROW victory :cool: Holien, are we going to hear what British Customs charge after these finals?   2. I haven't yet wrote my AAR's, but I will try to make them after the holidays... I have a slight problem, coz I play at work too (don't tell anyone). At this point my turn files are in two computers and I have to move all my files to my home computer, so I can make an accurate AAR. Cheers, Ali

  5. Hi Frunze! Good point! Yes there where troops at the side (okay, they were in the middle, but side of the right side road), but they were given away when they tried to shoot my HT's. Even a Shrek couldn't fire at the Halftracks coz they where driving too fast. Not a single shot was fired. Trucks came in so late, that they were out of the danger zone. I already had scouted right side at that time. Cheers, Ali
  6. This was my favorite scenario and only one where I could do my favorite mission, Attack! When you attack, you always have the ball in your corner. You decide where you want battle to take place and defender tries to guess where you're coming from. I chose to ram trough the right side road (from allied view). I'll post my AAR to later, but let me say that in this scenario I did my best and luckiest move with my greyhound. I will remember it for a long time. I did drove it to the end of the map and took out a JdgPIV with side shot from 20 metres or so... Left road is too risky IMO. That is why I concentrated only on the right side and it paid off.   7. I agree, night fights are pain! Outcome is always a mystery. Still I don't believe that front gate would have worked or would be a best choice. I had foxholes placed near the gate and MG placed on the building so that it couldn't be seen from the wall, deep inside the building only facing the gate IIRC. Wise defender can place troops so that wall don't help. Suppress fire from attacking MG may still rattle the defender inside the building, but odds are still on defenders side IMO. I've seen what defending splitted squad can do in the dark. And MG can be protected with more troops inside a building (inside enough) that they can't be seen from the wall. Another thing. Defender had couple of sharpshooters far out, near the trail (don't remember could they be moved in setup?). Those sharpshooters surely see if enemy is coming. Other snipers were browsing the corners. If enemy gets inside through the gate, it surely will get enough casualties that you can keep the big house and atleast contest one little flag...Unless somebody sets fire on your big building IMO, gate can be defended good, but outcome is still determined by random factors of night fight.   8. I will make my AAR's later, but here are my thoughts about Lab Rats. I agree with Holien that it was a pity that this night fight decided the victory ...Though I would have whipped you in another scenario anyway H Just kidding Coming through the front gate wouldn't have worked against me (atleast I think so). I though you were coming from that direction and I had MG + platoon leader + squad + half squad guarding that entrance. Main thing for defender is to know where attacker is coming. There was too few troops to cover all the area so I had to split troops and try find out where the enemy is coming. I managed to do that pretty good, but still few attackers did get inside... Scenario was really boring as a defender. First 12 turns nothing happened! Holien did try to bluff me with MG's supress fire on the other side and REAL attackers on the other. I did think that he is coming from MG's direction but kept my cool and left my upper guards at their place and drove in one MG to help (truck that brought MG was shot down by something (my own troops?), I thought it could be that MG area fire (over 200 metres away), dunno?. Then came the attack and it failed and that was the game...really boring, sigh. 2 Gammon bombs did more damage to my troops than entire platoon of elite troops...Other Gammon bomb was throwed at the big building that got fire and my squad + MG's run out and were butchered. At the end I attacked with Platoon hq + 9 men squad (all in tiptop shape). I was against 1 man squad + 3 man squad. 3 men squad throw a Gammon Bomb and immediatly after that they surrendered. Gammon bomb (Or was it satchel charge?) landed and took out building + platoon HQ + 7 men from my squad. Sigh...This scenario tested players luck, not skill If I would have attacked I would have used splitted squads to find out a weak spot and ram with massive force through the cap using small mortars smoke...maybe :confused: Or I would have used same bluff tactics that H did. Maybe a bit differently, I wouldn't have attacked the big building which is easy to defend even if enemy gets inside (check the vision range and you see that it is ideal place to defend). but it's all speculation and easy to say now... Btw, defender did got nice places in buildings. You could but troops in, so that they only see barbwire and enemy couldn't use wall as their cover. Later, Ali (edit: I added an attacking style...)   14. Hi! I don't mind being underdog and I like the fact that you can't be sure what you are up against. If you know the strenght (points used) of your enemy, IMHO you can calculate too much. Risks aren't really risks anymore, coz you have some clue how many points your enemy has 'left'. I like the current system I don't like 'wet' ground conditions and night fights. Too much random involved...hmm..wait a minute...maybe that's why I always do well in those scenarios Cheers, Ali

  19. Yeah, we made a dark pact with Mr.Lopaka! I'll be driving my army there in no time...Too bad some of Lopaka's men haven't heard about the pact yet.   22. I think this scenario got better during time. Start was boring, but that's probably because I played it quite safe and maybe a gamey way When I started this scenario,other scenarios were almost finished. That is why I didn't believe my briefing and expected more troops being on the Axis side. I was right, I dont think this scenario goes into 'assault' category. Or do you feel different fellow Rumblers? First I attacked ONLY from right side of the map, so enemy can't use guns + can't take a direct arty on my men. I advanced quite steadily, keeping my men closely together so they can outnumber any opposing forces. It worked fine, and I took the Hill When I finally took some action to left side of the map, I already had my tanks covering the hill where infantry was advancing + arty barrage was ready to clear the way. Arty hitted fine + tanks helped, so I got quite an easy ride to the flag. I didn't care about the flags, I only wanted to take out those guns (as briefing said there would be, this part I believed ). I run 1 platoon towards the big flag from right side of the map, and guns started to pound at them. My platoon did make it with few casualties. But main thing was that those guns were now exposed. The guns were IIRC about 300 metres away, but still they started firing. Does anybody know, that if they are hiding, do they start firing at that distance?   23. I liked the scenario! It was something different. Most of all I enjoyed the fact that I had to use those Haltracks transporting men in to Lucio hill. Honestly, I don't remember any other scenario that I really HAD to use Haltracks carrying men FAST into another location... That was a nice thouch and those Haltracks did their job perfectly! I lost my convoy, but surviving escort men (how ironic that THEY did survive!) + 75 mm spotter took out the Axis ambush party! Revenge is sweet At the end of game I checked one squad in Axis ambush party. It had 30 kills + 2 vehicles or something like that... Those big rockets killed about 10 men, but wasn't much of a problem. gotta go now, later... - Ali
