Yep, tried it and its nice. There are two patches for the demo which I needed to apply, cause the demo CTD .
This is definitely more a simulation than anything else. I think I will buy it, when its out.

As I understand it, the US missile defense is targeted against single missiles. Would´nt it need to be much more massive to counter a full russian ICBM strike ?

Command HQ was my first networked game ever. Programmed by Dani Bunten - rest in peace.
And what a great game it was.
So EOS will be a mix of Empire ( units ) and Command HQ ( wego ) ? I buy it ...

IMHO ,in 90% of all things CM, quantity beats quality. So as a rule of thumb, its better to buy more green units, than fewer crack units.
One of the reasons is the greater mass of shooters and ammunition you get with lower quality troops.
AFAIK the only drawback of lower quality troops is the response time for orders.

Deploying AA DOESNT preclude arrival of aircraft.
Aircraft have a chance to arrive each turn of a given battle if theres AA or not.
All battles I´ve fought, in which I bought AA, did have aircraft. AA does help with f00king up the aiming of those planes, though ....

I cant honestly understand people, complaining about an eight year old codebase, having issues with one year old hardware and software.
Do you also complain about your old Dos/win95 games not running on Vista ?
Apart from Vista being crap for various reasons, CMC was always intended for the hardcore/fanboy base of Combatmission. And those people will jump through every hoop to get their hands on CMC.
Me included. I´ll buy three copies of CMC ...

Bought it from Amazon, was here in germany in 13 days. I have also an Army at dawn, and both books are very good. Atkinson is an amazing writer.
Highly recommended.

I play the guy, I went up against in one of the ROW games with CMBO, from 2000 till today ,on a daily basis.

A new record in Hetzer killing ....
in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps

A lowly, immobilised M4 Sherman 75W killed four Hetzers of my old archenemy ( whom I play for years ) in just sixty seconds !
After speeding over a bridge, he was immobilised in the first seconds of the turn. At about fourty to sixty meters he shot at the sides of a pack of Hetzers, killing one with each shot. Outstanding !
I dont think he will survive the onslaught, but I wish to express my gratitude to my valorous pixeltruppen .
