What a bunch of rubbish. Steve, you seem to be very fond of doing sweeping generalisations and patronizing statements lately. I cant possible see what you want to achive with this.

That's the point I keep making that you aren't apparently grasping. Look at the all important words "in my eyes". For a fact, recorded on this Forum, the Steel Panthers, SL/ASL, Close Combat, HPS, etc. fans said the same exact thing about CMBO as you are saying about CM:SF:</font>

You joined us because of that vision and in doing so moved on from the games you had loved before that, correct? Now CMx2 is doing to CMx1 what it did to Steel Panthers and other games like it. That is progress, whether you agree with it or not. Staying with CMx1, and not moving forward, is stagnation. Those who emotionally oppose progress and favor stagnation could be called "reactionaries".

No, I would say that there is *movement*. Movement does not equal progression. Progression implies a movement for the better.

The paradigm shift to CMBO et all was a clear progression in my eyes. CMBB is *the* best game Ive ever played due to its realistic modelling of tactical combat, its interesting setting, and its endless replayability features. Which include random gen maps, a huge unit selection, ability to buy your own forces and WEGO TCP/IP multiplayer capability.

Now, CMSF is, in my eyes, a dispersed movement from CMx1. It does somethings for the better, its does something for the worse and it just plain lacks much of what CMx1 such an excellent game for me. Future support and patchng will decide, for me, if this is the end of the road for me or not. But I have to say, that the inability to play WEGO multiplayer TCP/IP is a real stinker for me.

Playing the AI gets old fast (and esp with the tac ai problems that we are experiencing now). Playing humans is what kept me playing cmx1 for 7 yrs. Playing PBEM is not my cup of tea, and playing RT is out of the question with the akward UI that there is now (complicated by rather poor pathfinding).

I hopeing I will be seeing WEGO in TCP/IP mode in the future, but from your previous comments, chances seems slim. Is this correct?

Molotov_billy, the manual explains some of the things you're wondering about. Only Emergency should screw with your accuracy. Time Delays are there to coordinate with other things you might want to do.

Most users don't read manuals, especially when they're 200 pages. It's a reality I wish you guys would accept and adapt to. </font>

What a load of BS. I guess that seven yrs were not enough for me to *relaise* that all the fun I had was just imaginary, and the canned scens, that I did not like as much, was somehow superior.

Dont try to pretend that your way of playing the game is somehow superior to the others, and we that do not accept your preposterus claim, is somehow not enlightend enough. What an arrogant p***k u must be.

I agree, and I played cmbo/cmbb/cmak almost excusivly (after learning the game) on TCP/IP. Unfortunally, the WEGO system is now N/A for rhis mode, effectivly, making, for me, CMSF a single player game. And as such, even iof they fix the problems with it, it will go off my HD rather fast.

Anyhoo... we're not deaf to the calls for some improvements. So expect improvements. But I'll never accept the argument that it is as broken as some say it is. If it were I wouldn't be able to kick so much butt when playing RT :D

    Steve

I kick ass playing RT also, in fact, I prefer RT in single player. However, that has nothing to do with how good or bad the UI is. I dont see your point here at all.

I can pretty much win any scen (as defender) by doing *nothing* also.. what does that tell me?

Anyways, its good to hear that improvements will hopefully be here in the near future.

  8. The reviwer tells you how he feels there is a disconnect with what was advertised and what is actually included in the game. I dont see why thats such a hard concept to grasp.

BTW, MD, Im curious, is there *anyhing* that is bad in CMSF? Or perhaps, mediocre, in your eyes?

It seems like he was struggling for ways to criticize it with a lot of his comments and just pulled stuff out of thin air.

Right on quoue(sic), MD is here to the rescue.

What did he just pull out of thin air? And how many of them? Must be a lot, you say so yourself. </font>

  10. The relative spotting thing is cool, but this does not seem to be the problem here. Rather, Ive experienced things like this myself. Tried to move a stryker forward, no go. Tried to change command to hunt, no go. Tried to reverse it, and then move forward, worked.

I think you just experienced a bug and when it finnaly moved it was just a coinsidens that it got killed.
