  1. Thanks very much, I'll make sure I've got directX8.1 or better and go download the driver you've noted. I too have the VIA KT266a chipset.
  2. Greetings Schrullenhaft, last summer I throughly enjoyed my Prophet 4500 until all the problems with CMBB. So I shelved it awaiting a better fix/driver/etc., and use a G2 GTS. I've just checked in and found the post I'm replying to. How did you ever get the 4500 to work? I tried the fixes posted at that time and got nowhere. It's a great card for everything but CMBB in my experience last summer. What happened? Tracy
  3. I actually got a response email from Hercules inquiring about the nature of the problem with the 4500 and CM. It's really amazing how hard it is to put into words. Did my best and refered them to this web site. We'll see.
  4. I truly do not mean to be a pain about this, but when would one normally expect to hear back from Mad Max on this? A week? Month? I really have no idea how this sort of thing works. Tracy
  5. Thank you for this, I shall try it as my resolution is very small 680x680 or some such. I've noticed serveral folks refering to setting the resolution in CM. Where and how is this done? I know how to use display/properties/advance (whatever comes next) to set resolution, but when CM starts is just starts in the extreme close up mode. Does CM have resolution controls?
  6. Thank you very much Schrullenhaft. Yes I did scour the board and I do hope MadMax will shed some light on any Hercules contacts he may or may not have had. My old TNT2 was second hand when I got it. I see a GeForce2 GTS 32mbDDR for $90 and may go that route. It probably won't be up to part with the 4500, but at least I'll be able to play CMBO again which I really enjoy. Is the MX400 above or below the GTS? Thank you again for any advice or thoughts on this.
  7. At least twice, I've found references here to anticipated new drivers from Hercules for the Prophet 4500 Kyro II chipset. Includeing one thread that sounded somewhat well informed about the "Black Opal" folks, whoever they are. Does any really expect the next Hercules drivers to fix the problems with CMBO? I've seen articles that say Hercules is putting out 65,000 of these cards. (Nvidia has a nice anti-KyroII piece on the TomsHardware site.) Do the Battlefront and Hercules folks actually talk? I don't want to yank out the board I just put in, but is there any point in waiting? Can someone from the publisher of CMBO respond to this?
  8. Thank you Maximus. Aren't those cards like the most expensive out there? If that's the price of fun with CMBO, I guess I'll just have to ante up.
  9. Slider, I have the same drivers and DirectX8 loaded up, using the Prophet 4500 and the regedit4 fix you provided didn't solve all problems. Are you telling me it is possible to run CMBO in all it's functionallity on a Prophet 4500? With normal/good speed?
  10. Where and how does one delete "perfs"? Schrullenhaft, do you think this will help with the Prophet 4500 KyroII's?
  11. Schrullenhaft, I don't understand your comment above about KyroII Prophet 4500's haveing potentially the best performace around on CMBO. I know you've participated in the posts on problems with this card. Has anyone used this card without major problems on CMBO?
  12. I just removed a failed Gigybyte GA-622 using a TNT2 chip set. Let me tell you, Windows went bye-bye. I finally got it to SAFE MODE and spend four hours on the phone with Microsoft $35 an incident support. Changing drivers can be very problematic.
  13. I tried the fixes mentioned by Slider in the string above and got some improvement. But, the text and moral info was still incorrect. And as Schrullenhaft points out, the 3d is very poor and game very slow. I hope I corrected the reg files correctly. I copied Sliders fix to a Note Pad file (Word won't work later when you try to import the registry file.) The imported the Note Pad via the Registry/Import Registry as Schrullenhaft suggested. Got a reply that said registry files had been updated and used the Registry/Exit to exit. But still not working right. Have latest Driver on new card. I just think CM is not gonna work on the KayproII Chipset's in the Prophet 4500 cards. Does anyone have a fix for this?
  14. I purchased the Prophet 4500 on the strenght of the reviews and am sorry I did. Have tried the registry fix and i did not work well. Some improvement, but not enough. Yet I see many issues with ATI, nvidia and matrox. I'll put this card aside and buy a new one, but what? A GeForce2 64mb? MX or Pro? DDR or SDR? Anybody REALLY know what works? My old TNT2 32mb worked great until the RAM chips gave out.
