  1. So the starting quarterback and head cheerleader made Homecoming King and Queen again ... Not that there's anything wrong with that...
  2. Yet another reason why CMBO and CMBB are the only games on my computer. Yes, Virginia, there IS a company that puts its customers first. As was stated before, you guys seriously rock!
  3. Ummm....Any news on the MasterGoodale vs. the world battles? I thought there'd be at least someone with molten TNT on their faces by now...
  4. What a wonderful wife you have! To have gotten you possibly the best Christmas gift ever! You owe her big time...
  5. Ahhh, I'll bet that's it! Do we both get the option or only one of us, because I don't remember being asked?
  6. This is a question regarding the second battle of the Desobry Operation on the CMBO disc. Is there one??? My human opponant and I fought the first battle, 15 turns I think. Then the second battle set-up came up and we both repositioned our troops in the new set-up areas. I just got the next turn back from my opponant and what was looking like a second night battle immediately became the end of the second battle and new set-up positions in daylight - the second day! What happened to the first night battle in the operation??? Is that the way it is supposed to play out or is there a glitch? There was not one turn of fighting in the second battle. Just a re-positioning of troops. Then daybreak and more re-positioning. What the...??? Thanks for anyone's help (I'm hoping that there are still some CMBOers here that have played this operation). 7. Rats. I was hoping for a Superman patch, because he's about the only one who can help me win once in a while...
  8. Hello, This is going to sound wierd, but I'm pretty sure that only with CMBB are the game sounds, explosions, voices, etc. reversed: an explosion on my left comes out the right speaker and vice versa. I know this isn't the case in CMBO or the FPS shooters I have and diagnostics say that the speakers are functioning properly. My sound system is: Altec Lansing speakers with TBS Montego II drivers. My system is a P3 600 mhz with 128MB on the board. Thanks for any help you can give me.
  9. Is there supposed to be a movie? I had to do the 'alter-install-due-to-crash' installation (thanks BTS, BTW, because it works great now!) but I don't get the intro movie at all - just goes to the main screen. The game runs fine for me so far, though.
  10. Sleeping in Rockford, IL - as opposed to staying up all night tonight. Maybe it will come tomorrow...
  11. I like to get realistic scenery. I'm not as versed in uniform and vehicle markings as are many CMer's - I like to get my #4 view and gaze across a majestic panarama of smoke and fire in a land ravaged by war. And now with the trees swaying in the breeze, the landscape is going to be even more appealing.
  12. Sorta the same feeling I had when I opened this thread...
  13. I'm hoping for non-life-threatening-non-property destroying winds and rain Monday night - I've got TB's defense in my fantasy league and another shut-out would pretty much rock!
  14. It was probably the same issue that turned me on to CMBO - "100 Greatest Games of All Time." Which would also explain why our member numbers are relatively close. I'd never played any war games, but figured if it was as good and revolutionary as they said it was I should give it a shot. They were right. I played the demo for about an hour before ordering my copy.</font>
  15. Actually, quite a few of us have observed mortars firing smoke on their own initiative. sometimes quite irritatingly. Not long back, I gave a mortar instructions to shell an enemy position. Before it started using its HE though, all on its own it decided to fire off all its smoke. Then it began firing HE, but only got off a couple of rounds before the smoke obscured the target, which broke LOS and it couldn't continue firing. Michael</font>
  16. Hi Sarge, I'm just curious as to using the 2 types of morters, light then heavy. I'm a newb and still learning. Thanks!
  17. Hmmmm...smells like sour grapes. You know in hockey at the end of a playoff series the two teams line up and congratulate each other, most of the players sporting the black eyes delivered by the very hands they are shaking. Give Witko his due - he won.
  18. My biggest mistake stick was to run my infantry to the point that they are winded most of the time - I've seen that they seem to suffer from a good amount of reduced firepower and am sure that they suffer steep morale penalties, too. Now, I do quite a bit more extended overwatch allowing my guys to relax a turn or so. And not so much running.
  19. People talk about this all the time (e.g. there was another similar comment on this thread) but I put zooks and shrecks in buildings all the time and have them fire at any targets that come along and have hardly ever had a problem with it (maybe once or two times in literally hundreds of CM games.) Am I just lucky or is this problem overblown (at least in CM if not in RL terms)?</font>
  20. Before deleting 300 I would just rename it to _300 - that way if you want it back you won't have to go searching for it on the CD, just rename it taking the "_" out.
  21. Holy cows, Ted! What an ordeal! You Wisconsinners are every bit as tough as we Illinoiseys think you are! Your bounce-back is fantastic - quite a few pros are done when they blow their ACL (hmmmm, maybe we can get Miller to blow out his...) I have every expectation that you'll be back out there kicking and head-banging that ball in no time!
  22. You have to ask yourself: what was life like before you got your first taste of CMBO? Do you remember things like the feeling of the sun on your face? The smell of grass and vegitable gardens? The sound of the wind? What did your wife look like? Remember well. Pictures help.
  23. OK. Thanks for the helpful tips - I'm starting my 'tank basic training' with these in mind. One thing I've noticed and it is a little annoying: I've acheived hull down with a shermon, say, on a panzer and have a nice flank shot all lined up. I see that the panzer's turret is pointed away from me so he hasn't seen me yet. So what do my guys do? They start in with the MG. The panzer starts to take fire and I see the turret coming my way and what should have been an easy first shot with my main gun turns into who is quicker on the draw. Now, I'm assuming that the reason my sherm didn't open up immediately after making visual contact with the panzer is that he's adjusting turret and/or loading up the big guns. But why in the world is he giving his position away by firing a MG? Should I have gone into the hull down all buttoned up? Would that have kept my over-eager gunners from giving away their location? Newbie question, I'm sure, but these battles sometimes really hinge on you keeping your armor alive and I'm seeing that the sherms have glass jaws! Thanks
