  1. Hello everyone, good to see we are back in the fight again. I was yet another one who bought but did not really play SF and it's modules just to speed CM-BN along LOL! Thank goodness I am going back to shore duty and the timing is almost perfect. Time to learn the new interface. R/ Jhereg
  2. Hi all, been a very long time since I have posted or even checked in on this forum. I just got back to VA, from six months of Navy schooling in San Diego and was surfing and said "Hey lets see what Battlefront is up to.". I felt burnt by CMSF when I bought the CE version, seems like they have finally worked through the most egregious bugs at last! The only problem is I can not find my disc LOL. So, therefore in a vote of support for BF, I will order the Combo Pack with the Marines. Please keep up the good work BF! Now hurry up with the WWII title Downloading now!!!!
  3. I keep coming back to check and see if the problems with 8800s are fixed and same ole same ole story. I have not even been able to get a feeling for this game as it does not work correctly on my main machine. I too bought the collectors edition.....Yaaaaay....right. Certainly will be my last pre order. I have lurked on this board for years and until this title have never seen this kind of denial of reality from BFC before...Hell I even bought TOW just to send money their way(played once meh!). There is no reason a 3.3Ghz quad core with two 8800 GTX's running well above Ultra levels with 8Gig of RAM should run this as a slide show..all the above watercooled so please do not tell me its an OC problem. This system runs STALKER, SH4, Supreme Commander, Quake Wars demo all fluidly at 2560x1600 resolution. God I am frustrated with this title. Even if the framerates are fixed will the pathfinding be...the TAC AI? I bought sets of the first CMs for friends to get them into strategy titles. I have been asked by them about this title and have had to tell them better to wait, but how much longer?
  4. Deluxe on the way...Wheeeeeee! LOL I've been waiting so long and just checked the site today as I was getting disappointed from before. All is forgiven...Heh!
  5. Currently serving in the United States Navy. 1987-1991 and 1999 to present, 9.5 years till retirement.
  6. I for one, am happy to have another modern title other than my old SP 2. It is interesting to contrast the effectiveness of a light mobile strike force vice the cold war MBT juggernaut. I for one cannot understand the reasoning behind the whole MBTs "bad"! Light vehicles that can get wonked on by a 14.5mm "good" LOL. Guess I will have to enjoy learning new tactics. Give to me the DEMOOOOOOO!
  7. ROFL @ Joshik "I pissed him off on purpose so he would growl and show his teeth..." that was one of the moments reading this board that helped keep me sane on deployment! Thank You Joshik!
  8. Good point about manuals, never thought of it that way. I love big old manuals with historical data or Sci-Fistorical data such as the size of a Space Lobsters cave etc.
  9. Yeah the only problem with Steam is the need to be online to use the software. When we are underway and tooling around for six months plus, there is no internet available for personal PC's. Thus any sort sort of online verification is a no purchase for me. Like yourself I often go back to play older strategy games when nostalgia hits me. I have two full CD-R's of maps for Close Combat III, even by todays standards my fully modded up install for that is large That is why both my machines have 500 Gig of storage each. I have not run into problems with Starforce as of yet either. The only game I really ever play with it is Silent Storm Sentinels which I had to order from the UK to get due to lack of distribution over here. Its the only one worth leaving in the drive. It just irks me that the modern CPS screw the legit customers but really do nothing to deter warez types. Starforce can be defeated in all its versions by the pirates. Ahhhh erm what is the world coming to. I am certain I will buy CMx2 regardless of the route BFC takes as they have given me a product I love as much as the old Harpoon Classic! Long live BFC! Maybe I need to learn to use spaces LOL so my posts are easier to read!
  10. In response to Immacolata, I use Daemon tools and Alchohol 120% because of the convenience of using images vice having to search thru 5 CD cases that hold a total of 602 CD/DVD and the tower of 25 jewel cases on my computer desk. I have never pirated any software, all are the original CDs. The titles with Starforce are the only ones I have to deal with the discs and as such they are played significantly less. Hell I can not play my old copy of Aces of the Deep due to having lost the manual during one of my moves, while serving this country in the Navy. Talk about PITA copy protection, 3rd word on page 122 AHHGHHAGGAaahhhh! I have bought multiple copies of BFC's products to give to friends and family. Yes copy protection is a burden mostly to legitimate users, especially Starforce and Steam. With Steam I could not play Half Life 2 for the first three days after purchase due to not being able to activate the software, because Valve did not have enough server capacity to handle the launch. There are still people who have gotten around Steam and Starforce. So in the end the titles I play most are the ones I can run from images when the mood hits me to play something dfferent/older. I did not buy Silent Hunter III because of Star Force even though I own all previous versions and enjoyed them a lot especially SHII. It boils down to basically how many hoops I am willing to jump thru just to play my game.
  11. SLI support is driver level and works with any program, no need to program for it. So all good there, widescreen would be loverly tho! [ August 28, 2005, 02:15 PM: Message edited by: Jhereg ]
  12. Steve, thank you for the reply. I understand how licensing etc can be a real PITA, not to mention you would not have control of the code. It would be cool to have a house or barn fall to pieces and realistically trap or not even hinder an AFV. The hardware looks to seriously be capable of upping the playable poly count. Are we talking the oft sniffled (by me ) over, pioneer of 3D? This looks to be the next big hardware genre for the PC, even if they go the route of 3DFx. I will probably be an early adopter....I am a hardware addict Heh! I have bought all three games for myself, and as gifts for friends, as soon as they came out. I will certainly continue as you guys have spoiled me rotten these several years. Keep up the fantastic work!

  14. I know I am like an Uber'Lurker but has BFC looked into the use of the AGEIA's NovodeX Physics SDK and their PhysX based hardware for poly acceleration?

  16. I fully agree and heartily wish BTS would integrate this feature. It would ensure that players have a more realistic, and tactically enjoyable game. In every game I play they always end with a last minute rush of vehicles, crews, FO's etc. This methodolgy is extremely frustrating for any one who has legitamately fought and won the VLs but is stymied at the end when in the last turn the VLs are in contest because of a SDkfz7 prime mover that just drove up. Adding this feature will improve the game tenfold. We currently have this ability with the BadCo End Game Randomizer, however it would be easier for the Non-PC guru types who just want to play the game if this feature were integrated within the engine.
  17. That show was totally riddled with errors, the one that tuned me out was, "The T34 when introduced had an 85mm main gun.....". Sheesh get a clue. That was early on before the King Tiger SNAFU's. So I went back to stopping the XXX Corps breakout LOL.
  18. Yes I agree that those commands would be a worthy addition. One other thing needs to be put in, a "not one step back command" or the Tac AI needs tweaked for AFVs. I no longer have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times that the Tac AI has done some thoroughly outlandish things with my tanks. I have placed Stugs with great hull down positions in ambush, they see a Church VII's flank and decide they need to run away. Mind you they are unsuppressed and the Church does not see them. So they decide it is best to advance towards the Church coming out of hull down, and thence bringing themselves to the attention another Church and his pal, instead of sitting there and picking them off. I have also had Stuarts do this and it is way more important for them to stay hid, etc....etc. Thus the need for a Stay Right Here command, or Tac AI tweak for AFV's in all occasions the tank in question could easily have defeated its opponent if it had stayed put.
