  1. So, playing the Hill 525 battle and ran into a confusing result. The briefing indicated that the hill was worth 300 points, meaning that if I captured the other objectives I would at least have a draw. However, the AI was awarded 600 points instead and to make matters worse I had numerous units in place to contest the objective. I have replayed the last few minutes and received the same results. I can not continue in the campaign so it is kind of frustrating. Any thoughts?
  2. Possible small spoiler: The defensive setup in battle two was a pain to unravel - well done. I can only imagine how long it took with the size of the map and number of units. Just getting into the third battle and already a surprise. Thanks for your work!
  3. Through three battles so far and it has been fun. With the mods and the setups it really gives the desired feel of urban warfare. Plotting movement paths at times is just like moving through a maze, reminding me of written accounts. Thanks for doing this campaign!
  4. Lille Fiskerby: I hate to say, but I won it the first time I played it, major victory . That is impressive! I won it on second try, but could not imagine winning on the first - I was totally stonked! Let us know how you do on the next mission at Werbomont. It is also a challenging mission in a different way.
  5. Spoiler: Highlight to read. I got through lifeline, but only on the second try. After clearing the first objective I used the approach down by the river heading straight for the bridge and used the tanks to screen. Smoke helped get them close and then a close assault against a somewhat light force in the bridge area. I was then able to work back up towards the town objectives. Unfortunately (depending on what you have left of your forces) the next battle at Werbomont is not any easier. Pieper is destined to fail today just as he did in 1944. That is one of the things that makes this campaign so interesting. You really get a feel for the desperate situation facing Pieper's forces.
  6. Spoiler: I thought that by taking the speed over fuel option I would see fewer American forces. That was certainly not the case.
  7. Just starting the 5th mission and I have to say that this campaign is awesome. Based on all I have read this campaign truly captures the feel of what Peiper was facing. The maps are outstanding! The decision options between battles only add to the immersion already present in the battles. I know that creating campaigns is a daunting task, but I think this one is going to spoil a lot of people.
  8. No resting. Time is the key element; or as we shall see differently when I run out of fuel!
  9. Through first three missions and really impressed. As has been mentioned in other threads, playing this campaign allows one to clearly see the reasons why this attack was blunted.
  10. I am finding that you have to unbutton first to fire from halftracks.
  11. 2 hours ago, JSj said: Ok, so the release has been imminent for, what, a month now? More than that? Have we had any substantial news since Chris posted the thread "Final Blitzkrieg release update" on Jan 21? Again, delays are not a problem, unexpected things always happens. But then you need to be open about it. A weekly forum post, listing the current issues, describing the reasons for the delays, perhaps a short video of a bug being worked on, that would have made a huge difference, compared to the almost total silence. +2 (First time I have ever commented on a late game so hopefully it will come out tomorrow.)
  12. Really enjoyed this one. I like the large scenarios and think this size gives a better feel for the Russian Front. Makes recon forces more relevant too. All of your work is great!
  13. From the Battlefront post: "Also in the near-term mix is our first ever Battle Pack, which is a collection of Campaign/s and/or Scenarios designed to extend existing game content. The idea is that when a Family is complete, or nearly so, we should do our best to make sure there's high quality content for it. Yes, there are lots and lots of fantastic player made battles to download, however you guys have made it clear to us that that neither player nor BFC made scenarios are substitutes for each other. This is our first test of that theory! The first Battle Pack is for CMBN and ties together the content of the Modules and Vehicle Pack." Oh well. I just needed to read a little more! Life is Good!
  14. I am not what you guys would refer to as a fanboy, but I have purchased every Combat Mission game Battlefront has made. (Along with many of their other games.) So needless to say I really enjoy this game and spend a lot of time playing it. I think the scenarios/campaigns are excellent, but I do agree that the campaigns are somewhat short and it seems like they have been getting progressively shorter. Maybe occasional releases such as those in Squad Leader (yes,I am that old)days with scenario/campaign packs would help. I would definitely buy any and all such packs. The community does a great job with player created scenarios/campaigns, but it is a lot of work. Just saying..
  15. Really enjoyed this one. Different tactical situation than most scenarios. Time was close, but I was able to exit. Keep them coming!
  16. Really enjoyed Rolling Thunder, but....... SPOILERS: I think you might have underestimated the impact of those ATGMs, in foxholes, in almost impossible to spot concealed positions and able to dominate the entire battlefield. I achieved a victory, but only after cursing you the whole time! Sort of evil genius on your part. Keep them coming!
  17. SPOILERS: I think the UAVs are the key. If you use them to spot so your artillery can take out his armor with precision strikes, it becomes more manageable. The Russians are also moving aggressively, which makes it easier to set up ambushes. You end up destroying so much of the Russian armor that it will lead to a surrender, meaning you don't have to possess all of the objectives.
