BTW - what's that silly little yellow & red thing in your post?? hmmmm....?? [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Babra: Precisely. Thinner shell = more boom inside. Thicker shell = less boom.

That assumes the shells are equal in all other dimensions!! Since the dustbin is about a foot long and the 11" shell is about 4 foot (49" base fused, 50.1" noze fused) long it doesn' apply. Sheesh - FYI the 11" shell had either 35 or 48 lbs of bursting charge (nose or base fuse respectively), and weighed 694.4 lbs (both). You can check this Here.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Babra: It's a bigger shell (with a LOT more stuff inside) than a shell from a German Pocket Battleship. Even if it really is a shaped charge, it's still gonna huff and puff and blow the whole damn house down.

Umm....it might have a marginally larger diameter, but it is not a bigger shell!! There's almost no weight of case - the whole thing only weighed 40 lbs, and was almost all HE. IIRC the 11" shells from the German BC's weighed something like 600 lbs. I'm not sure hat the spigot diameter was - much smaller than 290mm obviously, but it had a very small propellant charge - hence the low range, and also why it could get away with not having a heavy steel shell to contain the explosive.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Speedbump: "Suggested" was the operative word

Like i said - you failed. There isn't any suggestion of thought there. Or here for that matter!
 5. Actually it wasn't a bunker buster - it was an obstable clearer, and did sterling service on the beaches. After that it was most commonly used to carry fascines and stuff. Still, a 40lb HE charge isn't peanuts - it's more HE than a 155mm shell would carry I think, so it should have a fair bit of effect!
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Speedbump: edited to suggest some thought was placed into this post

You failed. Why bother in the first place?
 7.
quote:
Would you honestly spend a fortune on a Tamiya Kit, only to blow it up?

You're certainly living up to your new name Madam Moron - no of course I wouldn't spend a fortune on it. Someone bought it for me! And I hate making up plastic models! I like to break things.
quote:
If so, In comparison I would be the 'ballroom evening dress' - expensive and well presented with an amount of flair,

Flair?? That's what gets done to pipes so they fit over nipples! If you want to be squeezed out to a larger diameter then perhaps you could use Mouse's 380mm supository, but please don't tell us any more about it! Otherwise I'm glad you admit to being women's clothing. It's the first step to a cure.....personally I'd shoot you - quicker, more certain and less messy! But Dolly would miss ewe, and we can't have that! [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Mace: You obviously haven't had the joy of putting together a Tamiya kit,

Don't be such a twit - of course I have. But it was so much more fun blowing it up with fire-crackers!
quote:
but then again you probably keep both hands firmly placed on your namesake!

Jealous are we? Have trouble finding yours with both hands do you?? Otherwise of course I do......especially when I'm thinking about Tanya! What sort of prevert-weirdo-sheep-shagger are you that thinks it's an insult??!! Oh..of course...sorry!
quote:
And next time address me as Sir moron,

I think Madam Moron sounds better - it's certainly more appropriate since you're a big girls blouse! 9. Who's going to do the textures for the coconuts??
 10. It burned branches?? Gas powered - petroleum/ombustable or compressed air? 2/ Basically no - I still haven't go a clue!! Actually I thought it might be a flamethrower too at one stage...but see item 2 above..... [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
 11. Baaaaaaabra's just kidding. They're really not in there so the IS-3 can be!!
 12. That assumes I've got the rest of the info!! Actually books on Russian medals don't interest me that much, but knowing what that ugly F**Ker is has got me hooked!! For those who want to know, there's a quiz on the !Russian Battlefield. Knowing what this thing is, when it was developed and it's calibre is 3/8ths of the answers
 13. I don't know whether that's supposed to be a BT-7A or not - the gun seems far too long for hte 76mm howitzer, but is much larger calibre than the 45mm on the adjacent a/c. Although possibly the a/c could be armed with a 37mm gun, and the truck might have a 25mm AA gun on it, which would make them a bit better scaled to the 45mm on the BT 7?? I do recall vaguely that ther ewas an a/c with a 37mm gun, but I can't find anything about it. the common BA-6 and BA-10 had 45's only.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Joe Shaw: As to the GOR books ... I think there really SHOULD be some place where scantily clad doxies are eager to uh ... please ... their lords and masters. I think we need fewer damned SSNs and more Scantily Clad Doxies.

Wouldn't SCD's be SSN's by definition? I propose that all the old farts (who can't get it up anyway so SCD's are wasted on them!) should bugger off and leave us young, virile SSN's at the SCD's. OK - which of you needs his bag changed now??......
 15. Can anyone identify this - probably Russian - I have thought it may be a dismounted a/c cannon, but really have no idea!!
 16. For those who need to know, the Russian armoured car is a BA-10 with a 45mm cannon, and next to it is a truck mounted 37mm AA gun - unfortunately for het Russians it wil not be a gamey superweapon!! One question I have - there was a model of the 251 (and 250 I think) that had a 37mm pak mounted in place of the mg - it was supposed to be the platoon commander's vehicle in a Pz Gren platoon. Will it be in there?
 17. Originally posted by BTS:
quote:
BTW, if there was "no real difference" then why did the US intelligence reports LIE about the effectiveness of the gun? What I mean by that is on the one hand there is a report stating that the MG42 was not to be feared (har-har...) and on the other hand the US Army made a special training movie to help troops get over their fear of this SPECIFIC weapon.

I don't see anything inconsistant in this. There's often a difference betweeen perception and reality. The troops may well perceive the MG42 as a fearsome weapon due to it's RoF, while the brass may have assessed it as not so fearsome and so produce the movie as education. I'm not saying they're necessarily right - personally I fear anything that shoots metal at high velocity and yuo're not going to convince me otherwise, regardless of rof!

Perhaps hoping Seanbeanwannabe would no longer be here? And then what in the wandering cess should appear? But another of Squeaker's blasts of hot air! I knew in a moment that the kay-nig-its weren't here, So I thought I'd write crap and be their nightmare!

Bwah ha ha - here's another piss poor peng pool poet - only this time he's writing while you're all sleeping over there in lala land!! Sweet dreams scatalyrical suckers!! [ 06-20-2001: Message edited by: Stalin's Organ ]
