  1. Warmaker, that must have been one of those 1000 in 1 shots. I've fired a lot of AP against troops and have never hit anyone. Gyrene
  2. The late WWII M19 had twin 40mm Bofors. Saw a lot of anti-personnel use in Korea. Gyrene
  3. Nuts to your wussy AA vehicles. If you want to include non WWII vehicles than the M163 20mm Vulcan is your vehicle. Imagine knocking buildings down with that one. Gyrene
  4. I think Microsoft's bad rep would have been greatly reduced if they had made Win2K their sole operating system and skipped on 98SE and ME. Gyrene
  5. Fritz, thanks for the translating there, but I just found it interesting that they would call the M36 Jackson "Slugger". NATO does the same thing with Russian planes I guess. Gyrene
  6. I was looking for some info on the M19 40mm AA vehicle and came across this page which has some nice pics of WWII tanks, some of them going by some strange names (Like the M36 Slagger and the M8 Scott??) Incidently I found out OS X supports cyrillc fonts. Neato. Gyrene
  7. The true cause of most tank fires was poor ventilation in tanks and excessive and dangerous build up of fart gas. The Allied forces partially solved the problem by removing beans from the diets of tank crews and forbidding smoking in the tanks after meals. Gyrene
  8. I think that the whole "Makes no economic sense" talk as not making much sense itself, and elitist. When BTS began to develop CMBO the whole concept "Made no economic sense" because there was no market for a game like this one before BTS made the market; even BTS is surprised at it's own success. The whole notion of "no economic sense" is just Windows users' favorite way to poo-poo someone else's computer choices, and if it was up to your average Windows user the Mac version of CM wouldn't even exist, let alone a Linux version. I'd like to give BTS a little more credit than just thinking of the "economic sense" all the time, after all if "economic sense" was all BTS cared about we'd all be playing CM5 by now and complaining at how crappy and rushed it was and how we'd all need 64Mb cards and Ghz + CPU's. The only problem with a Linux port is that Linux users want everything for free. Gyrene
  9. Deep snow should aversely affect mortar and grenade shrapnel disperstion, as should sand. Don't know if it is in CM though. Gyrene
  10. It would be fun to have, but with a rarity level like that we'd have better damn well see the M16 GMC frist Gyrene
  11. In wet, or light snow they bog the most while crossing side-hills (Along the slope, not up or down), in slight depressions on the ground, including the base of small bumps and on the edges of scattered trees. Steep hills? Fughedabowtit! In mud or deep mud you can get stuck anywhere. Gyrene
  12. OooooOoOooooOOoooo!!!! Purty!!!! Where to get? Gyrene
  13. Bill Wilder? Bill Wilder the designer? I play all your scenarios! Come in, come in!
  14. That song is kind of catchy... Can't wait for the "P-Diddy" cover, featuring Jimmy Page! Gyrene
  15. I agree with their #2 pick. Excellent, excellent game. Gyrene
  16. Now if you can identify the image on the first icon in the bottom row, I'll be really impressed... Philippe</font>
  17. Ted, what's the question?? The picture in the bottom row, second from the left looks like Maxfield Parish's work. Not very CM like, but an icon in his own right. Gyrene
  18. Tom, there's a long running thread here in the tech froum about a TCP/IP lock up bug and I think that may be the cause of your troubles. It may be a problem with CM as it affects both Macs & PC's. I have never had that particular problem myself. Gyrene
  19. He hangs out in the CMHQ chat room. Go find out for yourself. Gyrene
  20. Nope, you are all wrong, as usual. <SIGH> Those are the shells of North African Nazi Crabs, a popular as a delicacy during the 40's. Gyrene
  21. The best to learn is to just pick one specific Mod you want to do and go for it. If you are using Photoshop or something similar you should devote most of your time learning how to use the Layers and the Masking tools along with the cloning, airbrush, dodge and burn tools. The path tool in Photoshop is well worth learning also. Gyrene
  22. I wrote a review last night and i got the same blank screen. I think they are just pooling all the reviews together to spring them all out at the same time, with whoever sent in the first winning. Gyrene
