  5. i would like to use 76mm, 122mm, and 152mm batteries in a direct fire role. my understanding is that the soviets had a fondness for direct artillery piece fire. certainly the 76mm was very common. andy
  6. i recently fired up riesberg and lost 3 times as amis, then twice as germans. oh the humanity. i had the computer experience set to +3 and - especially when playing germans - wondered if that +3 setting were somehow making the 88s less accurate. andy
  7. it seems like a lot of the features people are asking for here are going to be delivered in the next release after cm2. my understanding is that cm2 is going to be the same engine as cmbo with units from the russian front. then later on there will be 'cm2+' with trenches, different soviet command structure, mine dogs (just kidding), etc. does anyone have a list of what changes we might see in the first cm2, with its, 'same engine as cmbo?' i mean, will there at least be some new terrain tiles or 'somefink?' andy
  8. generally, i will fight until the ai surrenders for me when my troops' morale drops below 20%. having said that, in my opinion it's always better to formally surrender than to simply stop sending turns. andy

  10. i don't know about this whole debate, but having once played a lot of squad leader, here is what i do know: i miss the 'thing' in squad leader where a couple of machineguns could literally wipe out a platoon of enemy infantry in a heartbeat. in cm, it seems like infantry are almost never in that kind of danger from machineguns, particularly at longer ranges. in squad leader, even at longer ranges a platoon could get hosed from time to time. i miss that aspect of squad leader. andy

  12. I'm wondering if anyone here thinks that the Shermans are given too much AP by default. From what I've heard it was an infantry support tank. W hy does a default Sherman then get as many as 40+ AP rounds by default? It would seem that 10-20 would be more realistic. Andy

  15. in addition to the at rifles, i believe that the soviets fielded a lot of 76.2 mm guns of varying lengths. i mean, from what i've read the 76.2 mm was very common, either as an artillery piece in direct fire (short barrel, probably HE or 'c'), or the longer AT gun firing HE/AP. then there were the 45mm and... andy
