9.10 Cats & Sf 1.20
Dakuman replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
Thanks for the information. Your set-up is very similar to what I have in mind although I may go with an i7. I won't be building mine though I've always had Nvidia cards in my computers but with the problems they are having with the latest drivers, I may give ATI a try. I've read good reviews on the 5000 series cards as well. Thanks again. -
9.10 Cats & Sf 1.20

I look forward to your findings Phil as I will be purchasing a new computer in the next week or two and I was wondering whether to go with N-vidia or ATI. In fact the 5850 is the card i'm leaning towards. Can I ask what your other specs are? Processor? Ram? I'm looking for a good computer to run the CM2 family of games. -
What is next - after the Brits?
Dakuman replied to PeterFromLA's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I would love to see an IDF module...Merkava IV tanks roaming the battlefield. Maybe if we are lucky some 3rd party like the team that's making the Afghanistan game will make it if BFC doesn't have time for it. Looking forward to the NATO equipment as well. -
What is next - after the Brits?

I know the NATO module is next and then the Normandy game some time early next year...does anyone know what the next game will be? The Bulge game or CMSF 2 temperate climate? -
The refresh Monkeys have escaped again.

Oh well, I guess I can put my credit card away for another day -
Just wondering how hedgerows will be handled. Will there be a special tile for hedgerows or will it be a combination of hedges and elevation? I guess it will be impassable to vehicles. Will the allies get special hedgerow cutter tanks to deal with them?

Any plans to 'spice up' the mission editor features?
Dakuman replied to radioman999's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I agree the editor can be a bit intimidating at times for someone who is not familiar with making scenarios. I have started a few times myself only to get frustrated with my efforts. Do any of the experienced scenario makers have any tips for getting started? Do you start with an idea for a scenario first, or do you first make the map and then devise a scenario around it? -
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Korean Peninsula. With North Korea's crazy leader, I could definitely see a conflict happening there in the near future.

I think Steve said CM:Normandy would be out sometime this year. I hope he's right although I think he tends to be a bit too optimistic sometimes Would be nice to get an update on progress...heck i'd just like to know what the real name of the game is going to be
-
Looking forward to CM:Normandy...Just wondering how aircraft will be represented in the game. Will it be similar to CMx1 where you will see the shadow of a plane go by or will it be more like TOW where you can actually see the planes overhead? Also wondering if anti-aircraft fire will be represented in the game? Been a while since i've played CMx1 but if I remember correctly, it was possible to shoot down a plane. Would be very cool to see your AA guns open up when an enemy plane flies overhead

More Pie in the sky questions about CM2:Normandy
Dakuman replied to silverstars's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I may be mistaken, but I don't think the Bulge battles would be included in the Normandy game or any of it's modules. I think Steve said there would be a completely new CM2 game covering the Battle of the Bulge and other battles along the German frontier. I can't remember the order, is the CM:Battle of the Bulge game next or is the CM:Modern Temperate Setting next after CM:Normandy? I'm still hoping there is an eastern front game in there somewhere -
Could this be the first pic of CMx2 WWII ? [Edit] Yes!
Dakuman replied to Cpl Steiner's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Great pic! I still say the Tiger is the coolest looking tank of all time. It's going to be agonizing waiting for the slow traversing turret on the Tiger after getting used to the super quick modern tanks in CMSF Please keep the pics coming! -
If you could simulate any set-piece battle

I'm looking forward to seeing how Rune's "To the Volga" scenario from BtB translates in CMx2 -
The road ahead... a recap
Dakuman replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Any chance of getting an IDF module for CMSF? Israel vs Syria would make for some interesting battles. -
Excellent! Now if we can just talk Battlefront into making an Israeli module maybe we can get the Merkava too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO5X_xTR6k0 Cool video...looks like the Abrahms is ranked #3...the Challenger #2 and the Leopard #1
-
Nice!...Can't wait to try some Brit vs Marine battles:) How does the Challenger compare with the Abrahms? Is it a better tank? I've seen some videos on youtube that rate the top ten tanks in the world and the Challenger is actually ranked higher.
-
Some great looking models there...thanks for pointing them out Moon. That Jackal is one wild looking dune buggy Can't wait to see them in action.
-
It's been a while since i've seen anything posted on the Brit module. Any new information or screenshots going to be posted soon? Would love to have this under my Christmas tree Any chance of a pre-Christmas release?

Yes can't wait to see what magic Kwazydog can do with the TIgers

The magic is back! (2nd try at CMSF)
Dakuman replied to istari's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I think if "triggers" of some sort are introduced to the AI plans it would make for a much more interesting game against the computer. Such as if a certain casualty threshold is reached units could fall back or if an objective falls the AI could mount a counterattack. Any chance of seeing something like this for the WWII Normandy game? -
Great news! It looks like the western front will be completely covered over the course of 2 games and some modules. Thanks battlefront. I'm really looking forward to see what the new engine can do with WW II.

For some reason a Carly Simon song keeps popping in my head...."Anticipation is making me wait..................it's keeping me waiaiaiaiaiting."
