  1. Am definitely interested, but have a deadline to meet at the office and obligatory social obligations for my wife's work in the late afternoon. Is there a time frame? I have fond memories of playing my first few moves of CMAK and CMBB at casa de Rune.
  2. I'm going to have to get one of those headsets so I can converse while playing. For the record, I've never ignored a post from somebody asking for advice or help or even just saying 'yo'. But I know for a fact there have been times when I've been too busy to answer right away, or heading to downstairs to get a beer or take a leak when I have missed comments. On the other hand, I was heartened by the fact that there were games with 5-6 players pretty much whenever I looked this weekend, hope thats a taste of things to come.
  3. the game arrived. Nice to have a hard copy of the manual.
  4. Jumped onto the servers last night, and there were a few players on (I think it was 3 on 3 plus the bots). Had a lot of fun, even if the Archipalego map is a tough one for a CTF scenario. Two things happened that I thought were a little strange, however: -at one point I was in a damaged, slow Thor trying to get a flag back to our base. I was able to manuever close to a bot Paladin and drop the flag, intending to take over the bot for the run back to our base. However, after I dropped the flag, and switched to the bot, the flag 'magically' transported itself back to the other teams' base - it hadn't been touched by the other team or anything. -in another game, I was running in a 76mm Paladin when I crested a hill and was running full speed into an enemy Thor MBT. I assumed my fate was sealed, so (like that Sherman in Operation Goodwood who ran into a pair of King Tigers), I got up to ramming speed and hit the Thor on its flank. I was sort of expecting some sort of deadlock at that point and my quick demise, but instead I found that I could pretty much push the Thor wherever I wanted to. In fact, I think I pushed it around until the other player extracted (was it Jung?), in part because I was laughing so hard I couldn't shoot the Thor enough to kill it. Anyway, I don't know about the relative mass of the vehicles in the game, but it seems to me that the Paladin shouldn't be able to ram and have its way with a heavy MBT. Lots of fun last night, though, I hope that the multiplayer action on the servers will be heating up.
  5. I've found resupply to be a pretty nifty way of increasing the ammo of indirect fire weapons. If you leave the drop ship connected to the vehicle, as you use the mortar rounds, the ship replenishes the supply. Obviously you have to be out of open view of the other side, but with its a decent way to lay down a barrage with the indirect mortar vehicles.
  6. Had a good time playing the game this weekend. Most of the comments I have already have been made, although I'd add that I don't find the movement to be too unfair or difficult - there is a learning curve but not too steep. One thing came up the other day, though, that I'm curious about (and maybe the answer is in the PDF, but I've missed it). Anyway, I've enjoyed the sound and fury of the artillery barrages sent from the Command Tracks, and have had some success in killing the enemy with them. However, there was one game where I dropped a Command Track, but was unable to call in smoke or artillery barrages because I was not the commander and I was told that only a commander can call in artillery or smoke. The commander was controlled by the AI, Collins*, I think, and that bastard Collins* didn't call for any artillery. Is there a way to reassign or take over command status? This has only come up once, in other games I haven't had any problems dropping a command track and utilizing its assets.
  7. V-22 Squadron becomes operational Thunder Chickens, heh.
  8. Exactly. A German flamethrower HT that ran right through one of those archaic CMBO ambush points of one of my Piats. The Germans also had crappy Renaults that wiped out my Stuarts. Was there some ammo adjustment by WBW for that one to account for the Tetrach?
  9. Hmmmmmmmm, isn't there some CMBO ROW I trivia involving the Tetrach and a substitute? I'm kicking myself for not remembering the scenario, although I was playing Enoch I think....
  10. I'm still trying to absorb the whole CM:SF thing, and I've read most (but not every word) of this thread, but one thing I don't know that I've seen mentioned is the ability of the 'other side' to use CM:SF also. I guess its easy to see the use of CM:SF as a training tool for US/NATO forces, and I hope Battlefront makes a mint this way. But on the other hand, I imagine that the US has pretty good intellingence on the capabilities of the Syrian (or similar ME country) militaries. I'd also guess that the opposite is not necessarily true. Then wouldn't CM:SF be a pretty good training tool for how to take on a Stryker Brigade? I mean in the same way Flight Sims might have been used by 9/11 hijackers? Sorry if this has been mentioned before.
  11. What about Operation Dumbo Drop? Best kid-oriented elephant-based Viet Nam movie ever.
  12. Email sent to Sleekit, but looks like it may have been bounced by a spam filter. Sleekit, please email me.
  13. Try the movie Tae Guk Gi. It has subtitles, but otherwise should fit everything you might be looking for.
  14. Files sent to dangerousdave, who will be taking over Cuzn's spot. Let me know if these games aren't up and running soon. Sleekit is next on the replacement list.
  15. Email sent to Dangerous Dave regarding replacement status.
  16. Don't worry, the name isn't really accurate. Its more of a 'gully' than a 'valley'.
  17. Section 8: Sripe M. Dorosh Other Means Grimthane -has been sent the files for the first two scenarios. Please let me know if anybody does not receive them.
  18. Maybe this was mentioned before, but wouldn't this also need to be adopted for each side/nationality/era? I suppose this is theoretically possible within the 'module' concept as I understand it. But surely a Russian casualty in Stalingrad or even Berlin would be handled differently than an American casualty in 1945?
  19. The US Government trademarked 'Stryker'? If John Wayne only knew... On the other hand, maybe we could trademark all possible future cool task force or operation names and sell them back to the DoD at a premium.
  20. My main reason for not drinking is that I am just not in a financial position to spend money on alcohol when it could be used on other things like food. </font>
  21. I'll check where you stand when I got home this evening, David. Suffice it to say, however, that at this stage willingness and ability to jump in and complete games in a timely manner takes precedence over any strict list.
  22. Nobody else is at least curious about this? They were out of the book at the store I stopped by today. I'm sure its unrelated to p. 63, but perhaps I'm wrong.
  23. Red Robin has replaced Sgian Dubh in section 3. He has been sent files for all games. Let me know if those games aren't up and running again in the next few days. JDSU and Zveroboy are next on the replacement list.
  24. Replacement list: On deck: KTN In the hole: jdsu And then: > zveroboy > Redrobin > JC_Hare > Bootie > David Chapuis > Bulldog > Wunsche > BDW > ng cavscout > Michal Roszkowski
