I wish there was a direct link to full game downloads in my account for all my games/modules/updates. As it is now, there are only links for my incremental purchases. Maybe a new page for my account with all the full downloads with the associated keys stated next to them.
The nice thing with Steam is that once a game is in your account you only have to do one thing, click install and no worries about keeping track of keys. When I get my new rig (March) I will probably start migrating to Steam when the games get there.

    Hi all!
Now that Upgrade 4 is out and about in large quantities we have now discovered a few SNAFUs that happen out in the scary, real world that is home computing. We've identified a few issues that have similar causes which we have clear instructions for work arounds here they are:
    1.  CMRT Windows customers need to re-license their original key.  This is a result of improvements to the licensing system which CMBN, CMBS, and CMFB are already using.  To do this launch CMRT with the Upgrade and the first time enter your Engine 4 key.  Exit and then use the "Activate New Products" shortcut in your CMRT folder (or CMRT Documents folder for MacOS), then enter your Engine 3 license key.  That should do the trick.
    2.  CMBN MacOS customers must re-license all previously purchased license keys using "Activate New Products" is inside the Documents folder.  You have to go through the process for each of your CMBN license keys.  There is no special order to follow.
    3.  For CMBS and CMFB customers, you need to use the Activate New Products shortcut and enter your Upgrade 4 key.  If you launch the game and see a screen that says "LICENSE FAILURE: Base Game 4.0 is required." that is an indication you haven't yet gone through that procedure.  Provided you had a properly functioning copy before installing the Upgrade, that should be all you need to do.  If in the future you have to install from scratch on a new system you'll need to do the same procedure for both your original license key and your Upgrade 4.0 key.
    4.  There's always a weird one and here it is.  A few Windows users are not getting "Activate New Products" shortcuts created during installation.  Apparently anti-virus software is preventing the installer from doing its job.  This might not be a problem right now, but it will prove to be an issue at some point in the future.  The solution is to create your own shortcut using the following steps:
Disable your anti-virus software before you do anything. Go to your Desktop, right click on the Desktop itself, select NEW->SHORTCUT, use BROWSE to locate the CM EXE that you are trying to fix. The location is then written out. After it type in a single space and then paste this:

    -showui

Click NEXT and give your new Shortcut a name (doesn't matter what). Confirm that and you're done. Double click on the new Shortcut and you should be prompted to license whatever it is you need to license.

This worked for me in the past, but I'll put a shout out to @BFCElvis anyway.....Just to be on the safe side.

I believe, but not with such almost "lightspeed" reaction from detection to shot. To detect, recognize, assume a decision to fire, make measures, make voice commands to gunner/loader and (or) driver, they must react on orders, prepare to fire, aim, shot - all this in less than 3 seconds? Also this is touching not only the armor, but infantry too - look at CMSF2 topic, when discussed the same problem with many examples. Pair of scouts, which can not only spot, but also recognize enemy infantry in the trees from 3 km, having only rifle thermals - how it possible if AN/PAS-13 v1 sight for rifle has about 800 m of effective range?
The second - as I know the game engine have a feature - each unit makes 7 second сonsistent observation of each 90 deg. sector, but is there really commander during the battle is rotating own cupola like a turbine? Or trooper with own head? As far as in USSR time the research was provided which sectors the tank commander observates during own tasks. There is turned out 90 % of time commander spotted in the sector in 110 degrees forward. Try to move in the game RPG team to the tank from the flank - if it's not T-64, with a big probability the tank will detect them first.
Commander, of course, can rotate on 360, but, for example, in case of T-72B3, the commander hasn't thermal in own cupola, so during the day targeting he hasn't any advantages and in the darkness he can spot only at 500 m with EOP device. The thermal for 3300/5000 m of night/day modes has a gunner, but his sight "nailed" to the gun and he can observe battlefield through the narrow field of view only by rotating the turret. I'm not shure this reflected in the game.

This is not meant to be taken literally but rather it represents "Infantry Close Assault". Disregard the animations in this as the game was not designed to display the precise actions that take place in this sort of attack on a vehicle.

I would like to make scenarios more playable when playing against the AI and in H2H mode.
I think these changes would be a big step forward:
    - allow scenario designer to define that some units are included only when this side is played by the AI.
    - same thing for reinforcements

So one could design a scenario that is balanced when playing in H2H mode. Then add some extra units in Scenario Editor and possibly reinforcements that appear during the game ONLY when the AI is using those units. -> the scenario would be more playable also when playing against the AI.

SlowMotion reacted to Erwin in Shooting through bridge structure
This is a very common issue whenever a gun shoots through such structures including trees.  It's common that the shell will hit the tree or bridge structure, but the gunner will not adjust or stop, so will continue to shoot and waste shells until ordered to stop.   The 15 second target fire command is useful as that way one only loses 1 or 2 shells max.

Unless someone else has a specific suggestion, I would start with trying the smallest scenarios.  I was a veteran of CM1 and then CMSF1, but when I started CMBS it was shocking how much more deadlier it was.

I would love the camera positions that you can assign to short cut keys be persisted with the game saves and email files. I would love to use this features but the fact that it does not persist means I never do.

SlowMotion got a reaction from Glubokii Boy in PIAT team icon
    A feature request:
would it be possible to show some kind of anti tank icon as the floating icon for units that have PIAT weapon?
This way it would be much faster to find those anti tank teams from a big map with lots of infantry.
It would save lots of time when planning moves.

In fact, I do not need CM3. I will be more than happy with just few enhancements :
    1. Ability to split squads inside vehicule to dismount only the needed team.
    2. Ability to keep damage on a map like the old Operation of CM1 (a modern urban battle could be splitted In several scenario on the same map)
    3. In the editor, increase the number of AI groups - 32 instead of 16 (to allow more flexibility)
    4. In the editor, increase the number of Terrain objectives - 30 instead of 15 (to add more AI triggers)
    5. In the editor, allow Setup of AI group to be linked to an AI trigger (to add an AI group on the map depending on the location of the other side not only of a time period)
    6. In the editor, allow more control of AI indirect fire missions (duration, smoke or normal rounds, initiated by AI triggers)
    7. Add more default flavor objects

But, if one would like a wish for CM3, introduce machine learning for AI so that it can learn battle after battle the best way to defeat you (both for StratAI and TacAI).

    Two player campaigns!

I just don't get why (comparatively) the easiest thing to implement and the change that would bring maximum joy to this game for most of the more serious players, still isn't a feature.

Granted with the size of CAM files, Head to head campaigns would not be best served up as huge packages of lengthy sequences of scenarios. But a campaign with a mere 4 or 5 scenarios would still be engrossing progress from the present play limitations. Come on BF!!

Lots of designers have Anglish as a 2nd language so they should be congrachulated for what they can do.  Am less vorried about grammer and speling than about breefings that are either inaccurate, to complex and/or hard to unnerstand or omit important info dat the player needs in order to plan proper.

I once bought one of the Total War games - it kept me mildly entertained for about 45min before I got bored.
Combat Mission in its various permutations has had me hooked for around 15 years (since CMBB came out, whenever that was) - and I'm still finding new aspects to explore (currently enjoying designing QB maps and adding AI plans).

If you like tactical (realistic) war games...Buying one of these titles will be the best value for money you will ever spend...😎
The majority of players here have spend several 100 if not 1000 of hours playing these games...
    They are addictive !
Choose the theatre wich intrests you the most...the WW2 titles might be a bit more forgiving when it comes to making mistakes compared to the modern titles...
    ps...I guess the 100 dollar is a typo ?

The film The Winter War from 1989 is good too. The other films, about the continuation war, are ok and don't have so very much action, except maybe Tali Ihantala.

I tried to interest a guy on Youtube a couple days ago (he had a video about his Marx WWII play set) so I figured hey CM is toy soldiers all the way. Dude pretty much completely ignored the part of the conversation that involved links and info on the game. I was like WTF?! That's right up your alley, man!
Had another guy tell me he wasn't really interested in CM when I brought it up because the engine was getting old. This statement was posted under his video about the update of John Tiller's Panzer Battles. I didn't even bother to respond after that ironically moronic statement.
I guess I must be getting old. Earlier today I sat and marveled at the fact I'd just turned a lamp on and it produced light. LOL. I think I got lost in thinking about it for about five minutes. I find being truly thankful for the (seemingly) tiny things enriches your life just as much as something like a new car or a vacation can. There's a quote of mine I have been repeating for about 20 years now: "Give me a brand new Bic mechanical pencil and a clean sheet of paper and I am happy". If you can find joy and contentment in the little things you'll always appreciate what you have and not worry about what you don't.
