Full screen setting
Wolfpack replied to Wolfpack's topic in Strategic Command - World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918
Great, thanks Hubert. -
Why was this removed from the settings inside the game? (It was inside before was it not? Been a while) It's kind of annoying to have to set the preferred resolution, then exit and manually edit a config file to play full screen in a lower resolution than your desktop. Or is it in there somewhere and just well hidden?
-
If you do the manual full screen setting, and set it at a lower resolution than your desktop resolution, will it be full screen at the lower res? I tried lowering mine since detail is pretty hard to see at 1920x1080, and I was disappointed to see it shifted to a window, which helped the problem not at all.

All I can say is thank god they're going back to the 3025 era to start with. I got so sick of the Clans and their uber weapons. the game lost any real balance as soon as that stuff was introduced.

Cold War please. Hasn't been a good computer 80's Russian steamroller game since Red Lightning.

Piracy in PC gaming-Another BIG victim (old news)
Wolfpack replied to Lt Bull's topic in General Discussion Forum
I think you're missing a vital point here, in that you're talking about EA Sports. These people haven't put out a Madden game for PC with actual improvements in about 6 years. Their PC base consists largely of people playing in leagues, and since 2003 they've consistently made it more and more difficult to actually set up and run these leagues. Madden 03 had an online franchise available, 2004 removed this to try and get people to use their utterly crappy EASO service. That said, Madden 2004 was still a slight improvement in gameplay at least. What has improved since then? Not much other than graphics, they throw in a small feature of two every year, very few of which actually make much of a difference. I'm in two Madden leagues that still use 2004 because we refuse to continue to contribute to their complete disregard for the people who actually paid for the PC game. It's not piracy that's killing the PC game, it's their lack of effort. I know quite a few people through the leagues that do pirate the new games each year, because being able to create a sign or some other stupid little improvement simply isn't worth paying for, but they still want to see if the gameplay is actually any better. Invariably they're disappointed, because they've ignored their serious player base to cater to the 10-12 year old twitch jockeys who enjoy throwing 60 yard bombs or running their QB every play. You used to be able to adjust the settings so it wasn't so easy to do that when playing online with sliders, but guess what? They decided that that was simply too much power for their peon users, so they removed it last year without any warning so nobody knew that the sliders (Still in the game) didn't work until people started complaining about it in their forums. If you can't tell, I have a lot of pent up frustration that's been building up since the Football Pro series died. EA puts out crap year after year and expects people to pay for it, then blames pirates when people simply don't see the need to pay $60 for what is basically a glorified patch or roster update. I've heard that they're bringing the PC version out again next year, but I guarantee that if they don't make serious changes and improvements, they will continue to be disappointed with the sales. -
Or we could overcompensate and tip back over into that next ice age we're overdue for, but who cares about all those people up north anyway, they're overdue for moving south and getting a tan.

Vainglory of Nations Spore Guitar Hero: World Tour That's pretty much my list. I'm hoping that VGN can scratch that Victorian age itch that Vicky just never did for me. Spore should be fun, I've had some fun with the creature creator, ad want to hurry up and see some of my critters in game and see how they fare. Made a deal with my friend who got Rock Band, which is good fun. She got that and I'd hold off for GH:WT, which looks like it could regain a lot of playtime from me because their last few efforts (Even Aerosmith, which I did enjoy) don't really even come close to matching Rock Band for fun. I doubt the music maker part ever comes to much, but who knows, maybe they're smarter than they've looked the past year or so.

Hmm...at least I got my name back...though by my post count, I was in here way too much.

Best thing for me has been to try and make sure to pull as much of my forces back as I can before they die. Rather than waste money to reinforce a unit that will only die next turn anyway, I'll operate them back. Do what you can to delay them, put corps in the forward cities early so they have time to settle in, then hold for a turn or two and pull back unless the Germans don't throw enough forces at you and you think you can hold a couple of turns longer. It's usually a bit easier to hold on longer in the south than it is in the north, aside from Leningrad. If you keep your forces intact, pulling back and reinforcing, then when the winter hits, you'll have a nice sized force available to do as much counterattacking done as you can before the weather improves again.

How do I fix Romanian bug/?
Wolfpack replied to CSS's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Until the patch comes out, you'll need to go into the editor and remove the Romanian (And Swedish) ships that start outside ports. That fixed it for me. -
I like it so far, but I keep getting this error around Nov 8, 1940. I think it has something to do with an event, I think it's Romania joining the Axis. {Edit - Yeah, it's happening as soon as I get the "Romania joins the Axis" message} Seems to be a percentage thing though, as it happened two times I tried to continue, but didn't happen the third time. Advanced Third Reich Mod for SC2-WaW
Wolfpack replied to pzgndr's topic in Strategic Command 2 Scenario and Mods Forum
I'm having the same issue. Checked the folders, and everything is in the right place, and appears to be okay, but it's not showing in the menu. -
I'm still waiting for the early WWII game which at one point was on the list, but apparently is getting shoved back further and further. Seeing Normandy rehashed again is nice and all, I'm sure I'll get it, but hopefully someday, I'll get to see the game I want. Oh well, I've had a pretty big run of good luck lately, and if this is as bad as the bad news gets, I'm still way ahead of the game.

Why the Allies won
Wolfpack replied to Minty's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Resettling them in Madagascar would be interesting, if for no other reason than that it would have been the Germans who would give the Jewish people their first national homeland in over a millenium. Granted, not the one they wanted. It would have changed the situation in the middle east greatly too. In general, the jewish people and Arabs got on respectably (Not much worse than most groups settled in the same area do at least) until Israel was created and extremists on both sides inflamed things. -
Why the Allies won
Wolfpack replied to Minty's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Without the pressures of war, and if the British allow passage through the Suez, Hitler may have opted for the Madagascar option rather than the full out holocaust. if he could get France to agree with it. There was serious discussion on it, but without a way to ship people there, it wasn't practical. -
Rambo VS Liam AAR: Best VS Best
Wolfpack replied to Liam's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
I've had Spain turn in about 5 turns once, so that would be the uncommonly good side of the spectrum. Generally it's more worth it there because the percentages seem larger than for other countries. In Spain I've had it jump by over 25% or so, where other countries it seems like 10-11% is about the max. It's definitely not a bad investment. Especially since it opens up Gibralter for an attack, so if the allies are trying to put up a defense in Egypt, the "Gibralter effect" can help.
