  1. War's over. Have your troops stack arms and head homes to their families.
  2. I must be really slow tonight. I had to read that three times before I got it.
  3. It also depends on where in the 25 year or so cycle a particular plot is in. I was cruising timber with my brother in law this weekend on their north Florida farm. There were sections that had been recently thinned and burned and you could see clear through them, easily 200m. You wouldn't want to be a deer walking through those trees. Other areas that hadn't been thinned and still had all the undergrowth blocked visibility at ground level within first 30m or so.
  4. Bil does seem to have figured out GaJ's intentions, but it's shaping up to be a pretty even fight on Bil's right. Bil will be sending a company+ along with 2 Stuarts and 1 Sherman. If I remember from the earlier turns, GaJ's got a company over there plus he's sending both PzIV's to that flank. If the Sherman that will be attacking from the center to the right gets taken out, Bil may be forced to sihift one of his remaining Shermans to the right. That will only leave one Sherman and a few troops to hold back GaJ's infantry on Bil's left.
  5. Danger in the Morning is a lot of fun. Beautiful map as well.
  6. Asus Transformer here, Tegra 2 chipset, running ICS (4.0)
  7. Will the additional QB maps be included with the v1.10 patch?
  8. I believe they also had a series of glass bottomed boats in order to review their naval fleet :-)
  9. There are no perceived negatives when bad things happen to the AI. It's just our brilliant tactical planning coming to fruition!
  10. For CMBO, one of my first "Chance Encounter" games. I barely knew what I was doing and ended up getting an American squad isolated in the church. They bravely fended off multiple assaults before eventually running low on ammo and succumbing to one more German push. I think they ended up with around 30 kills. For CMBN, played "Last Defense" as Americans and managed to pretty much mangle things up from the get go. After mauling my troops outside the village, the Germans were advancing a Tiger and a StuG right up the main road into the village. I had one bazooka team left but they had already panicked once. I was stalking the German armor with that brittle team when, unexpectedly, both German AFV's turned down two parallel side streets surrounding the building that my AT team was standing behind. I went down to view level 1 and watched as they rumbled right past my team, without either AFV spotting my team. My guys pumped one rocket round into the StuG and then turned their attention to the Tiger. They hit the Tiger from the rear, but to my horror it rumbled on. Still, the turret kept pointing forward, so my team had remained unnoticed. I waited on pins and needles for my team to load and fire another round. Just when the gunner was ready to fire again, he took a hit and fell backwards and his assistant threw up his hands?!? I rotated my view to see what could possibly have happened and there stood the StuG crew, taking revenge for the loss of their machine. It was like the best 30 seconds from a great action movie!
  11. I've only had one encounter so far. Playing as Ami's, I was out of AT assets when a German StuG came calling. I had a platoon hidden behind bocage very close to the StuG's position. While the StuG was preoccupied with some unlucky troops a few hundred meters away. I split a squad and had each team approach the StuG from the rear (taking slightly different approaches). The squad got behind the StuG and tossed every grenade they had, seemingly with no effect. Shortly after the last grenade was tossed, however, the German crew bailed. The StuG was listed as "knocked out" and the assaulting squad was credited with the kill in the AAR. Whether the grenades truly damaged the StuG or just forced the crew to bail, I'm not sure.
  12. That one is a hoot! The 2nd time I fired it up, I sent Barkmann straight up the road he's facing to see how much damage he could cause. He got immobilized early on, but was left in a perfect spot where he could see the road and the field to his left. He ended up causing 61 casualties and bagging 15 tanks. Had a couple close calls, usually when he'd turn the turret to bag some escaping crews and then a new tank would appear to the front, but he always pulled it out.
  13. crc failed, Nuts. Will try downloading again or from different server. Got this one from the gamefront link in original post.
  14. Ha, checked the forum for the first time today at 11:40 and see this. What timing! 90/365MB complete, 4 mins left!
  15. I'm currently reading "The Steel Wave" by Jeff Shaara for the second time and am enjoying it. http://www.amazon.com/Steel-Wave-Novel-World-War/dp/0345461428
  16. Peter Jackson can only afford one crewman?
  17. My expectations are that the cd itself will have a jagged edge that cuts my fingers when I try to take it out of the case, that the installation program will infect my pc with viruses not yet discovered, that the graphics will be bested by Pong and the gameplay will be eclipsed by an alpha version of EYSA. I guess I'm aiming too high.
  18. It is depressing. I got a chuckle, however, at some of the innefective communication in the wording of the first quoted section above, which speaks of effective communication. Specifically, the following: 1. 75% of adult Americans with chronic health conditions scored in the lowest two literacy levels assessed - Without telling us how many literacy levels were assessed, this doesn't tell us too much. I assume it's four or more, but if there were, say three levels, then you would expect 67% to fall within 2/3 of all assessed literacy levels and 75% wouldn't be unexpected. 2. 41.6% of American patients could not comprehend directions for taking medication on an empty stomach - Ha, could they comprehend directions better after eating? :-) Also, I'm not defending the level of education in the US or anywhere else, but the two stats regarding dropout rates and college degrees instantly registered as suspect on my "BS" meter. Sure enough, a quick look at wiki (using US Census Bureau figures) shows a college degree level in 1999 of approximately 25% (about 30% for those 25-29 vs everybody 25 or older). Not sure how the 15% figure was derived unless it included all population including those < 25 years of age. The dropout rate of 25% doesn't seem to jive with the wiki stats either which show a 1999 high school graduation rate approaching 85%. Here again, it's possible to twist the stats to make a point. If a person drops out of school and then takes and passes their GED exam, they receive their GED (I think it stands for Graduate Equivalency Degree or something similar, too lazy to google it). This is treated the same as a high school diploma. So, if you're writing an article on how many people drop out, you could use the 25% number, but by not disclosing that a sizable portion of those dropouts, say 30% of that 25% effectively have a high school degree, you're distorting the reality of the situation. All that being said, medication directions are pretty confusing for this college graduate!
  19. ha, I also slowed down after their 6 minute course, by a good bit more than 6 wpm. Went from 479 to 424. I attribute it to knowing what type of quiz was going to follow, and therefore studying certain parts of the text (i.e. movie titles) more carefully. I recall glancing back up at the intial list of movies in the "After" text to see if they were the same as the movie list given later on in the text.
  20. beta tester gibsonm's comments in this thread make me think not: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1228071&postcount=8
  21. With 160,000+ combined views and counting, the two DAR threads have easily been the most popular threads on the CM:BN forum. I check in multiple times per day to look for updates. It's been entertaining and informative, but this battle's almost over. I'm dreading the thought of no further fighting. I'm sure the AAR discussion will be interesting, but it won't have the suspense and anticipation of the DAR. Are there any add'l DAR's planned, perhaps using a newer build of the game? Would be cool to see what all's changed in the past month or so and just to watch another battle unfold.
  22. 1) During "Bloody Omaha" scenario, when (and if!) the DD tanks come ashore, both propellers are rotating clockwise when, in fact, they should be counter-rotating with one clockwise, the other counter clockwise. 2) "Into the Night" scenario, can't add waypoint for gliders over impassible terrain (i.e. flooded marshes). Should be able to as glider is flying over this terrain, not travelling on it. Otherwise, this scenario is really taking shape. Watching the paratroop squads slowly drift apart during the descent really ups the ante. On a side note, allowing the Rangers to scavenge the grappling hooks during buddy aid ("Over the Top" scenario) is working great. Was too easy to get stymied at the base of Pointe du Hoc before. Thanks for that change!
  23. Perhaps it was inspired by a well known US politician who stated in 2008 that “If they [the political opposition] bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” Perhaps it was caused by a well known US partisan political website adding Giffords to their "target list" as one who "sold out the Constitution", bolding her name and selected others for their political views. Perhaps it was triggered by the same website publishing an online letter just 2 days prior to the shooting under a headline that read in part, "My CongressWOMAN ... is now DEAD to me!", referring to Giffords.
