  1. We don't need no stinkin' demo. Demos are for those trying to decide on a purchase. We all know we're going to buy CMBB. I'm gonna pass on the demo stampede, and get all my goodies at once with the real deal. What a day that will be! Treeburst155 out.
  2. Kip, Thanks! I enjoyed it. Mike, It sounds like you're talking CMBO QBs here. I believe in CMBB you will be able to import custom maps into QBs. I could be wrong here. The maps just have to be real wide with the VLs more or less central. The German setup zone should probably be centralized, while the Russian player would have a setup zone the width of the map. Maybe even horseshoe shaped. Combine this with the right amount of time pressure and the Germans would have to put up with some flanking AT fire. Given too much time the Germans could of course run to the map edge and deal with any flanking AT guns before pushing toward the centralized VLs. I think what Kip envisions for realistic German attacks could be easily done with CMBB, probably even with a QB. Treeburst155 out.

  5. Game Updates Grog Dorosh: He exposes a squad. I blow it to hell with 75mm HE. Repeat. My only fear is running out of HE. Herr Oberst: He's busy combing the map edges for gamey maneuvers, but I'm more gamey than that. I'm going straight up the middle with everything I have. It doesn't matter that he now knows this. He doesn't know what to do with the intel anyway. Mr Spkr: He has arty spotters running all over his side of the map trying to get LOS to my troops in the WIDE open spaces. Mr Spkr obviously has not mastered the LOS function yet. Moriarty: I THINK I'm losing. I KNOW he's gamey (in a dumb sorta way). It's his turn, as usual. Roxy: OK, OK....so it's not Roxy, it's the AI. That's why I'm winning...maybe...hopefully. OK, so I'm losing. BIG DEAL!! I would have been losing to Roxy anyway so SOD OFF!! Treeburst155 out. 8. Herr Dorosh, These are completed games as of August 25th. Redwolf, Shame on you and your opponents. Somebody needs to report, and it should be the loser. That's the "reward" for losing. Treeburst155 out.
  9. Below is a list of all players and the number of games they have completed as of August 25th. This list is not a real good indicator of progress because we do not know how far along the unfinished games are. However, it does show where possible problems may be. Seventeen people have finished four games. 78 days ago the last files were sent out. On September 24th, four weeks from today, all games must be completed. This date will have allowed players 106 days to complete the five games. In the days following September 24th, I will assess the progress made on any unfinished games and decide how best to handle each game on an individual basis. I will do this by emailing the players involved. If I do not hear from at least one of the players within 48 hours, I will assign the median scores to that game. If I do hear from one (or both) of them we will work out how best to finish the game quickly. If this means I must play one side, then I will do it with short time limits, TCP/IP or PBEM, whichever the "active" player wants. If it weren't for CMBB I would let this tourney slide into mid-October, but since that is not the case we have to move things along. I was really hoping CMBB wouldn't be released until mid-October when I launched this tourney. Charles Keagle is the one exception to the deadline since he started all five games from scratch on or about July 22nd. He will have two extra weeks to finish his games (October 8th). It will probably take me this long to wrap up any other unfinished games anyway. All AARs are due by October 8th!! There will be no more replacements! If you have not heard from an opponent in THREE DAYS, without receiving prior notification of his inability to send turns, I need to know now. I will email your missing opponent. If I do not hear from him in 24 hours I will take over his games. I will be ruthless about this. I will snatch the game right out from under you if an opponent complains about you. This post will be emailed to all tourney participants. Fight On! Treeburst155 out.
  10. Tourney III, Section 3 Have any of you heard from Mikeydz in the past week? Tourney III, Section 1 Have any of you heard from Ligur in the past week? Treeburst155 out.
  11. So far (fingers crossed) we have seen about a 13% dropout rate for RoW II. Luckily, many of these occurred early on, so replacements were easy to find. The real problem occurs when someone drops out near the end. In these instances, I'm thinking I should finish the games myself. Using a timer, I would limit myself to 5 minutes per turn for giving orders. This would perhaps make up for any knowledge of the scenario I may have picked up from finishing other games for dropouts. Believe it or not, I would actually be quite blind the first time I had to finish a game. Right now, I'm playing Another Day with SuperTed and I'm blind as a bat. It is not necessary for me to study the scenarios in order to secure them for the tourneys. I get a glimpse of the setup zones, and that's it. I try to stay as blind as possible when doing the securing so I don't blow the scenarios for myself. I like to play blind. With a short time limit, I think we could arrive at a final score that is fair to the player stranded by the dropout. Feedback? Treeburst155 out.
  12. LOL! Hey, great idea!! We'll get that Carrot fella in there too. We'll call the tourney RoW III: Holien's Hell. Hehehe Treeburst155 out.
  13. We're sorry. Due to forum crashes some years ago all member numbers are invalid. Please take your place at the end of the line. Treeburst155 out.
  14. This one is simple. They should process CMBB orders based on the date of a person's pre-order/order of CMBO. Since I pre-ordered CMBO sometime in mid 1999, you can all step aside. Well, most of you anyway. Treeburst155 out. [ August 25, 2002, 11:45 PM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  15. Yeah, Cpt. Carrot knows what he is doing, I think. He was a perfect replacement for that difficult slot. Treeburst155 out.
  16. Redwolf, Yes, I have a new job that will be keeping me very busy. Add to that the RoW II work (lots coming),and possibly TacOps 4, and I'm booked up. I think we'll be lucky if BOTH of us are in possession of the game by mid-October. There's going to be a processing lag I think. Treeburst155 out. 17. Hi boys! Hi Lars, you sweetie. Thanks for taking me with you on your little boat ride. I don't mind that you "checked" me twice, since I know THE check is in the mail. Oh, don't forget my wine coolers, and the cake I'm supposed to pop out of! Love, Roxy [ August 25, 2002, 05:17 PM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]

  19. You're on, Redwolf! No download of demo. We install the full version on the same SUNDAY and do an immediate TCP/IP. I'll be so busy it will be easy for me to hold out. Treeburst155 out.
  20. Roxy does not shop. She shoplifts....and she certainly wouldn't do any favors for Treeburst. ______________________________________________ Hi guys! I've escaped from the POW camp by posing as a French kleptomaniac super-model. Mr Spkr, also having escaped, was last seen headed for the Peng Challenge. I will give him a swift boot in the posterior to get him going. Mikeydz is apparently MIA. I'm not too worried yet since his performance thus far has been great. As I understand it, his games are very near completion. However, I WILL send a patrol forward to look for him. Thank you, Kingfish, for holding down the fort. BTW guys, Kingfish is currently working on an RoW page on the Boots & Tracks site. Wild Bill's Rumblings Of War results will be posted there, among other things. Thank you Kingfish and Boots & Tracks! Fight On!!
  21. Aaah, Treeburst155....how uninspiring, and he smells bad too. Edited because, not only does he smell bad, he spells bad. [ August 25, 2002, 03:21 PM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  22. To BFC and the community, I sincerely apologize for using the forum to conduct a personal attack on a member of the community. This act showed flagrant disregard for the forum rules I agreed to when I registered to post. I promise I will never violate these forum rules again. Thank you Madmatt and Battlefront for giving me this opportunity to make things right, and to rejoin the community. Sincerely, Treeburst155 (Mike Meinecke)
  23. ....about Fionn. To be banned for this reason is an honor. Thanks Madmatt! It's been a fun couple years guys. I'll see ya around the web. Treeburst155, martyred for speaking the truth.
  24. You're right, Swamp! I'm sorry. I forgot I've been moving assembled battles to a different folder. I have two purchases from you. Well then, if I get purchases from Swamp and Ghost, and Skelley replaces Fionn, I have only GravesRegistration as a problem. Just maybe, this thing can still happen. I have to do some honey-do stuff now. I'll be back in a couple hours. Treeburst155 out.
  25. Hi Michael, Titans know who they are. I am almost certain the CMBB Titans will be the same group of people I now consider CMBO Titans. It's the way they choose to enjoy CM that makes them very strong players, and thus Titans. The stereotypical Titan (IMO): A Titan plays more games in a month than the rest of us do in a year, and they win them. They do lots of TCP/IP. Titans are not only wargamers, they are gamers in general. While others read books on WWII history and tactics, a Titan is studying the game to discover the strengths and weaknesses of every unit and the tactics that work IN THE GAME. Titan's will be the first to discover ways to exploit the game engine. Titan's are not grogs, but you can bet they know what penetrates what at at any given range in the game. Titans will play any even battle they are challenged to. They will play historical, ahistorical, gamey and non-gamey. It is second nature, and part of the game to work out "rules" with their opponents. The game begins with these negotiations, which don't take long because they all know all the tricks. While we are posting, the Titans are playing. While we are sleeping, the Titans are playing. While we are losing games, the Titans are winning. Treeburst155 out.
