  1. Ah, Walpurgis Nacht, you play chess. I should have known. I used to study the game. I lost too many tournaments to guys who could really play though. Therefore, I...um...retired. Assuming CMSF has PBEM, I'd love to take you on. I'll take the tanks, choppers, MOABs, jets and such. You take the Syrian teenage homicide bomber. You can have a couple rusty old RPGs too. I think that would be a good matchup for us, no? Treeburst155 out.
  2. LOL! This is how CMBO, CMBB, CMAK scenarios work. There's often a time crunch, and seldom an explanation given for it. I'm going to keep an open mind on CMSF. I seriously doubt it will replace CMAK and CMBB for me; but I'll probably buy it if the demo impresses me AND if it has PBEM. Heck, the campaign against the AI MIGHT be worth the money. That will be hard to determine with the demo however. Treeburst155 out.
  3. Given that the campaign is against the AI, I would say replay value is.....um.......practically zilch. The first time through might be great fun however. Treeburst155 out.
  4. Hehe...this is great. CMSF modelling will be well within the ballpark; and very few, if any, will be able to argue differently with any concrete evidence to back them up.
  5. Some of whatt you say just might be correct, Ivan. I predict BFC will get some military contracts out of their Syria simulation. Such contracts may even have been a motivation to do Syria first. More power to 'em! Treeburst155 out.
  6. Wow!! Thanks for the enlightenment, Matthew. I hope someday we'll have such a wargame. Treeburst155 out.
  7. I don't think the game is INTENDED to provide long term player interest. The idea being, you burn out on Syria just about the time the next CM2 game is released. I believe Steve has even said as much. Treeburst155 out.
  8. Mr Peckham wants "continuous time", I think. No pauses to grab a beer, etc.. I'd also guess one would need to have a high end gamer's mouse to play his "far more realistic game design". Of course I could be wrong about all this. Perhaps he will enlighten us. Treeburst155 out.
  9. CMSF is a near future hypothetical thingy! Good educated guesstimations are all they need regarding penetration and armor stats. Who can gripe about incorrect modelling when the realities are top secret? BFC can't be proven wrong! Hehe.... Treeburst155 out.
  10. OK, even though it violates my Alpha Tester NDA, I'll spill the beans just to shut Grog Dorosh up. CM2(Korea) will have extensive screenshot functionality. This will of course come at the expense of PBEM. We of the secret Alpha Team concluded that sending shots of your games against the AI to your CM buddies would be more fun, and less time-consuming, than playing a PBEM game. Treeburst155, Lead Alpha Tester CMx2
  11. I wouldn't do Beta-Testing for the reasons mentioned above. I am however enjoying my Alpha-Testing of CMx2. Yep, the top secret Alpha Team is where it's at. The code goes from Charles' computer to mine, then to Madmatt and the rest. That is, if I don't send it back to Charles for rework. Treeburst155 out.
  12. I'm happy to learn the computer opponent is NOT a big stumbling block to game features. As for the TacAI, if it's as good as in CM1, then it will be good enough for me. Treeburst155 out.
  13. Yes, it's a shame design decisions, development time and effort must be spent on a computer opponent. People played games long before the computer came along. They played other people; and in the case of wargamers, they often played themselves. I have no need of a computer opponent. Too bad I'm in the minority. Have you ever played CM against yourself? I promise you it won't be long before you actually surprise yourself with an ambush. It is not difficult to put out of mind the orders you just gave to the other side. Treeburst155 out.
  14. Colonel Deadmarsh, No CMBB version is available. Treeburst155 out.
  15. Yes, Exeter won on the first try; but he lost a high percentage of later attempts. He has not yet solved the puzzle. His Shermans are exploding as I type. Aaah, life is good. Treeburst155 out.
  16. GAGA, Email me if you want tips to win the scenario. I don't want to post stuff like that here. Grog Dorosh, WHERE'S THIS SCENARIO YOU MADE!? Sheesh....grognards. Treeburst155 out.
  17. You're right, Brent. This little puzzle would be more interesting to those who are fairly new to CM. Anyone who finds themselves fighting traffic jams could learn quite a bit from this one. Treeburst155 out.
  18. Keep trying, Brent! You'll figure it out...or die of old age.....or smash your computer in frustration.... Treeburst155 out.
  19. Yes, Brent, he used the "Distraction Method", something I didn't foresee players trying to do. The HQ's are there soley to make sure the gun is spotted the first time it fires. The gun also has HQ units to make sure it spots any enemy armor immediately. Treeburst155 out.
  20. Only a few hearty souls have requested this scenario. These few will soon become CM road movement experts. The rest of you will wallow in traffic jams and pile-ups, loudly cursing CM road movement, while your men on the front get overrun by the enemy. This does my heart good. It makes my day. If only you could have gotten there a couple minutes sooner........ Treeburst155 out.
  21. Zweihorn, I sent the scenario to the address in your profile. ________________________________________ Black Max has solved the puzzle; but he invented a new way to do it. His method will only work against the AI, while my intended solution will work against an experienced human. This means I will not be depressed over Black Max. He has NOT contributed to the ruination of my health and happiness. Keep trying, Black Max. Win the scenario without giving orders of any kind to your spotter units. Treeburst155 out.
  22. Now GAGA, if you're winning repeatedly, you must have figured out the puzzle. You can't be THAT lucky. So....Congratulations! You are now on the list of those people I will never EVER forgive for solving my puzzle scenario. Treeburst155 out.
  23. Walpurgis Nacht has solved this puzzle scenario. The man ruined me in the ROW tourney, and now he's ruined my health and happiness too by solving my puzzle. I will never EVER forgive him for this. Treeburst155 out.
  24. Here's another one for you. The briefing: CM Puzzler #2 This little scenario will test your skill at efficient movement along roads, a tedious but necessary CM skill. With practice, road movement in CM becomes much less unpleasant. I actually enjoy it now. A well-plotted convoy is a beautiful sight to behold. You must exit all four GERMAN halftracks off the EAST edge of the map before you get cut off (and cut down) by enemy armor. Choose the Axis side and use the default setup for the Allies. My record for exiting the convoy is 4 minutes and 46 seconds. If you take much longer than that, the enemy will probably mess up your nice little convoy real bad. Remember, you only win if you get ALL the halftracks safely off the EAST map edge. You can then rest assured that you are an expert at CM road movement. Good Luck! Email me at mikeman@cablelynx.com if you want to test your road movement skills. Treeburst155 out.
  25. Thanks, GJK, for all the hard work on this. I say do it how you want. We can all gripe about it later. Treeburst155 out.
