  1. Thanks Schrullenhaft, I have managed to hook the 2 laptops together with the cross-over cable, my life is complete Keep up the good work. Regards, David
  2. Schrullenhaft, If I could buy you a beer I would. Your suggestion to delve into the BIOS worked like a charm. I upped the RAM to 32 MB and presto, I could select the higher resolution. Thanks. David p.s - any suggestions for how one would go hooking up 2 laptops for the live head to head, without going onto the network?
  3. Thanks for the quick reply Schrullenhaft, will check it out and get back to you, early morning here. Thanks again. David
  4. Hi guys, After months of bitching and moaning I have convinced the boss that it was in his and the company's best interest that I be supplied with a laptop, with the sole intention of installing CM onto it. The problem is the resolution, it won't let me go any higher than 800x600, despite the desktop resololution being 1024x768. I have deleted the prefs file and repeated ad naseum I have read the threads and still no clues. The laptop details are: a GERICOM laptop, with Windows XP, Pentium III, 1200 MHZ, 504 MB RAM, Chipset SiS 630/730 with an 8mb video card. What gives? Any help would be appreciated. Regards, David
  5. Jasper, Great work, keep them coming...this is the sort of stuff which makes the working day pass quicker.
  6. hmmm, 'screaming mini's'....'meamies' perhaps. I have just done a search but no links unfortunately...
  7. Anyone out there able to provide me with more information about this mean ass kicker. What sort is modelled in CM? Anyone know any good sites/books covering the 'moaning mini'?
  8. Yes, Combat mission has also had a HUGE influence on how I manage my time...but even worse, although I love it, are the dreams...the sounds of the MG-42 opening up, the thumping of the grenades, the howling incoming artillery. My God, the other night in the pub after a few beers, I found myself tracing targeting lines out of my slitty eyes... Great stuff BTS, you have made my childhood dreams of wargames come true.
  9. Thanks for the info guys, have managed to secure a copy of 'The Forgotten Soldier', which judging by the first couple of chapters will set the tone for the next combat mission chapter. Thanks once again for the input.
  10. Any one read it? Any other suggestions for books covering the 'Beyond Overlord' period. Any good German narratives out there?
